Incoming Gamepass roster is insane * RIP PS5

Coming on March 17- 24

These are my favorite picks:

• Nier Automata
• Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire Ultimate Edition
• Octopath Traveler
• Yakuza 6

These are pretty expensive games that didn't get substantial discounts these past years. Octopath Traveler is still like 70USD on Steam. So much JRPG goodness on GS lately.

Meanwhile on planet PlayStation: PlayStation owners, PSN plus not required are getting 10 free games Some PS VR some indie and horizon zero dawn. Idk which deal is better?

I already rented Nier Automata and Yakuza 6 back when they released on my subscription service. Nier is great and Yakuza 6 is solid. I'm not interested in the other two games.

When do those Playstation deals go live? Right now? or is there a date?

PS5 seems like a waste of time and money,mainly because of GamePass. Xbox is killing Sony month by month slowly.

The thing I don't get about GamePass being the best thing since sliced bread is, what about long term replaying of games? Or long term replay value in general? It's all good as long as the game is on GamePass, but when whatever you're playing is inevitably taken from the service you're going to have to go out and buy it if you want to keep playing. Unless I'm missing something, you're essentially just renting the game, right?

All Microsoft 1st party games and EA Vault games (if you have Game Pass Ultimate) are in the service permanently..

3rd party titles tend to stay in the service for a loooooong time.. I've never had any issue completing a game that was in the service, even if i started the title way after it was announced to be on board.. even then, they give you plenty of notice that a title is leaving (more than a month's time) so you can decide if you want to finish the game or purchase it..

If you do decide to purchase a game before it leaves Game Pass, you get a 20% discount..

So you get to try games before you buy them, complete the games you try, and purchase the games you really like for 20% off.. there is literally no downside..

As a JRPG enthusiast, this is tempting.

I am not interested in Gamepass myself, as I prefer to own games, but I gotta say that Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into strengthening their product's appeal. Gamepass will slowly but surely kill Playstation.

@pmanden: I am not even that big of a Xbox fan and even I can admit that this service is the best thing in the gaming industry right now. Microsoft has carved their own sector of the industry just like Nintendo carved their own sector of the industry through the handheld Nintendo switch dominating. I don't understand how the haters of Xbox can keep on underestimating Game Pass. Octopath Traveler and Nier Automata are huge wins for Game Pass.

@brimmul777: They're killing PS5 with old games and lackluster "exclusives"? Series X launched with nothing, you guys need to sit down already. Meanwhile, PS5 sales are double Series X. It's okay though, buh buh Gamepass.
