WIth all that advertising you'd hope it sold well, besides, can't trust Vgchartz for the rest of those numbers anyway.

It being called Killzone "2" would mean its not a new IP. Just saying.

I know that FOUR DAYS of InFAMOUS' AMERICAN sales were measured in the NPD, but this is good news.

I'm just glad we got a new game to play, yay!

For a NEW IP, not at the HOLIDAY Season, and without having to STARVE gamers, pretty awesome.

LBP did much better due to HOLIDAY sales for a new IP, as did GeoW, but this is great news, ESPECIALLY in these HARD FINANCIAL times (Something GeoW never contended with.)

Amazing by Sony and PS3 fanboy's standards, since most (if not all) of their exclusives sell horrible.

Because fanboys think every game needs to sell like Halo or it's otherwise a flop.

1. You mean GeoW the first game, or GeoW as a series? Because GeoW 2 was released Holiday 2008, when the crisis was already started, and it still sold around 4.5 millions. 2. Besides point 1., what has GeoW to do with anything?

Well...It clearly states that inFamous is the fastest selling new IP for the PS3. It sold like 140k in its first week. That's more than I can say for equally good games like Okami have sold since being on the market since 06. Fanboys like you have got to stop sipping on Hater-Aid

So in order for a game to not be a sales flop in your eyes it has to have Halo 3 like sales numbers?

All this fanboyism of yours must make you thirsty. Try this!

Why even care? As long I continue to enjoy quality AAAEs I can care less about how many people who buys it, and Sony has been cranking them out one after another.

The other two reasons are valid.

Not the point about the date upon which it was released. Looking at the 2007 sales data, $2.63 billion revenue in November, $1.1 billion in June. Looking at the 2008 sales data, $2.91 billion revenue in November, $1.69 in June. That's an average ratio of 2.1/1 for November/June. But the sales ratio difference between GoW and inFamous is 4.93.

That doesn't change the fact that games sell more in the holiday season than in June. Meaning the release date was also a factor.

Perhaps, but it alone can't account for the discrepancy in sales.

No, the Current Economic Climate (Worldwide recession), A varied install base, The Non Holiday Release date, Marketing for each game, and the fact that SHOOTERS are more popular than Superhero games factors in though.

Not to mention, the PS3 users being flooded with new High Quality games to buy like LBP, Resistance 2, MLB09:The Show, Killzone 2, and now Infamous.

It all adds up.

Heck, the Number One Played Game on Xbox 360 for the first Year right before GeoW came out was LAST GEN's Halo 2, meaning Xbox 360 gamers were absolutely dying for new Next Gen content at that time. That Starvation isn't a variable on PS3 at this time.

I don't know about that. I haven't actively sought out information for either, and I've seen their commercials on TV about the same amount - actually about the same amount as GoW2 even. And as for ads on game sites, it seems their ads play before movies very frequently. If all I have to go on is my personal experience, it doesn't *feel* like Sony was skimping on advertising while Microsoft was providing lots.

Nor was it on the 360 at the holiday season 2008, yet GeoW 2 has sold around 4.5 millions.

Besides, the 360 gota decent ammount of high quality games in its first year.

Meaning that the only two factors are 1) marketign campaign and 2) genre popularity.

You also forgot marketing, InFamous is also marketed quite a bit more than other games, but I remember when Gears was coming out the marketing for that game was IMMENSE! On every channel you heard that same song and immediately knew what it was.

I don't know about that. I haven't actively sought out information for either, and I've seen their commercials on TV about the same amount - actually about the same amount as GoW2 even. And as for ads on game sites, it seems their ads play before movies very frequently. If all I have to go on is my personal experience, it doesn't *feel* like Sony was skimping on advertising while Microsoft was providing lots.clicketyclick
You asked, I answered. If you *feel* differently, well, good for you.

[QUOTE="SolidTy"]Heck, the Number One Played Game on Xbox 360 for the first Year right before GeoW came out was LAST GEN's Halo 2, meaning Xbox 360 gamers were absolutely dying for new Next Gen content at that time. That Starvation isn't a variable on PS3 at this time.IronBass

yet GeoW 2

I'm not talking about GeoW2, I never said GeoW2, I have been talking about GeoW, a new IP for 2006.

I only brought it up because of the poster on the same page was talking GeoW1.

very good start for an awesome new ip game.

Dead-Memories

WIth all that advertising you'd hope it sold well, besides, can't trust Vgchartz for the rest of those numbers anyway.

Huh, I haven't seen any ads for it at all. Well that doesn't matter anyways, it truly is a great game. I am one trophy away from getting platinum, I need 7 more blast shards, it's so hard to just find 7! That's why I am on here right now, I had to take a break.
