i mainly prefer inFAMOUS over Prototype for 2 reasons:

1. inFAMOUS has better graphics, and thats of course the most important thing in SW.

2. in Prototype, theres FAR too much going on at once. sometimes you dont even know what hits you/where it came form which gets very irritating, and the slightest things always get the military on your back, like falling from great distances.

idontbeliveit

see I thought the opposite with prototype on that second aspect, the military is too stupid, I will be a military man and running up walls and throwing cars and they wont do anything about it it felt unrealistic to me in that aspect :P

But that was the funny part. I mean, where else can you leap from a 30 feet tall building right infront of a military complex, consume someone and not be noticed by a single person lol

sold better becuase it sells on TWO SYSTEMS instead of one

Just shows that ps3 owners would rather buy Prototype over Infamous.

yeah, the military is stupid in that regard. but i just found that a lot of the time in the game, the action just gets to chaotic.

Both did pretty good especially for new IPs. Prototype managed to be on top of the NPDs. Did Infamous do that? Both are good fun games but I think Infamous is just more polished since the devs didn't have to worry about putting it on more than one platforms.

I really don't get people saying inFamous's graphics were great. The character models were TERRIBLE and the city wasn't anything special. As far as PS3 exclusives go, graphically it was subpar.

idontbeliveit

yeah, compared to other PS3 exclusives inFAMOUS's graphics suck, but compared to Prototype's, they're good. Prototype looks like a PS2 game

Prototype looked pretty damn good on my TV.Graphically I prefer it. And Prototype's animation for everybody was far better. The enemies in inFamous looked like they were ice skating all the damn time. It was terrible.

You are 100 percent correct in that regard. But by the end of the game you are more than capable of dealing with it.To be honest I preferred the chaos of Prototype's battles to being sniped by infamous' enemies that shouldn't even be able to see you.

[QUOTE="themyth01"] Yet Prototype sold better...WilliamRLBaker

The masses and infact gamers in general do not like good games they buy crap constantly only one person buys good games and thats the person talking about the game thats better then the other game. Sales never matter to them...till their game they are voting for sells massively...

@silvveran ^^^^

That shouldn't matter a good game a truely good game should be able to outsell any thing no matter its advantage in reality Prototype is an amazing multiplat it beats otu infamous as an exclusive game and because of that it sells more.

we all know ps3 exclusives dont sell well though. but even besides that, theyre both 2 brand new ips. neither of them had a fanbase to start with. all they had to go ff on was the hypetrain so with that said, 2 no name games, one an exclusive and the other a multiplat.....the multiplat will win since they both have equal hype and is sold at 2X the rate of infamous

I'm one of the few that thinks Prototype is better then Infamous. I couldn't even be arsed to replay it again on the bad karma side. It was ok. The story/ending was weak, and the lightining powers only got old.

Prototype is off the wall crazy. I like how the city actually has sky scrapers an feels so much more dense. There are more missions, and the powers are crazy. I wish it was a little more polished, but all in all I much prefer Protoype.

I gameflyed both for the PS3, and I sent Infamous back after one playthrough. Prototype I'm gonna buy for my PC after I end it in PS3. Much more fun to me!

So far I'd say Infamous = 7 and Prototype = 8. The replay value in Prototype seems to be much higher becuse of the crazy GTA rampage style side missions and off the wall powers.

yeah, the ridiculous sniping range the enemies have in inFAMOUS is pretty irritating too, and using precision takes an annoyingly high amount of energy, but i prefer that to being surrounded by super fast mutants, tanks, helicopters and soldiers all attacking you at once. i'd rather have the space.

Seriously, this video really sums up visually what makes InFamous so good. I know it's old, but many seem to have missed it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpVgxYt6QyU

El-Visitante
Why would I care about the visuals over other things? Better looking does not mean better game automatically, and from what I have played of both games (not a whole lot since I am broke), I prefer Prototype for its game style.

True, true. Prototype is the one case where the gameplay outshines the graphics in every way. I just picked Prototype up last week and I can't get enough of the balls-to-the-wall action and intensity you feel throughout.

I dont understand how you guys can like prototype :P In the whole game you only ever need to use one attack. Its exactly like the spiderman 2 game for Xbox. Great potential, terrible execution.

er no, just no... there are hundreds of attacks you can and probably at multiple occasions, need to use. It has a far deeper move library then Spiderman 2 and i think infamous (not sure didnt play it too much to see it at its full potential of moves.)

Dont kid me dude i played on the highest settings on PC and even then it was abysmal at best. That game might have a great gameplay scheme-meem goin on but the graphics are horrendous.

oh well even so, it isnt like you can just keep on spamming that move you have to charge a meter up all the way before you can use it, and trust me that isnt going to happen very often as you can only get it charged when your at full health I believe :P

yeah, you actually have to have more than full health to use the devastator attacks and they are almost impossible to use in a boss battle.

I played both. But, i enjoyed inFamous more just because i was more attached to the characters and thought it was polished more then prototype by a whole lot. In prototype, most of the times, you don't know what the **** is going on and most of the missions contains of destroying things, where as in inFAMOUS , most if not all of the story missions felt different and varied. The only thing that stayed the same were the side missions, they were mostly(Not all of them) the same but with different settings since the city is divided into 3 parts. Not only that, but the ending was epic. Everything felt smooth and great. The game was also challenging and it felt awarding when you get new powers and all that. All in all, both games delivered the fun and both games were great. But for me, i prefer inFAMOUS.

Both awesome games but Infamous is just a better rounded game, it's more polished, the story fits much better, controls are a bit more refined. Prototype is still a very cool game though.

I personally feel Infamous has more staying power, Prototype was amazing and all but it was alot of instant gratification and not much else to come back for. at least infamous has a good/evil sidequest and small differences to the powers to make you go through another playthrough. Infamous definatly has more polish to it as well, giving it an overall more imersive feel to the city, breathed more life into it. In Prototype nothing you did could dynamically effect the game at all. Even destroying infested buildings and army bases you could check your map 5 mins later and they would magically reconstruct themselves.

True gamers get to play both while lemmings are stuck with prototype

swamplord666

Yeah.. where's crackdown on ps3 btw?

give it up man... crackdown is a fun game but its production values a terrible. So many glaring problems such as no story, sniper accurate enemies, glitches, arcady feel. I enjoy it for the B game it is. If you had played the games you would see that they have very little in common with crackdown apart from being able to climb buildings. If anything prototype resembles crackdown in gameplay the most.

They're both excellent games and deserve the credit in their own right. If anything those 3 games have redefined what I want from an open world game.

haven't played prototype for the sole reason that it looks too similar to infamous and I'm completely burnt out on infamous right now infamous was good though, addictive gameplay for sure... shame it had the worst characters ever assembled in a videogame
