I agree. XMB is a very good start, but the PS3 still has some work to do to reach where XBL has gotten.

MOST decent games have their own matchmaking process seprate from TrueSkill. Basically its a tac on feature, but useless in the end. Oh and if you have a job making $25 bucks an hour why are you on a forum when you should be working?

This is a joke thread right?

I have never ever had fairly matched games on xbox live or psn, its always high skilled vs noobs and it never changes.

Amazing thread:roll: first lemmings pointed out that PSN had no in game features and now its the skill matching feature. What will be next Lem "well you still dont have voice chat on all your games".

The most important feature of Live, and why I continue paying for it, is TrueSkill. It's how I find games with people of my skill level, and avoid being matched up against a bunch of rookies or MLG competitors. Without it, a weekend warrior type like myself is doomed to be blown out by the truly dedicated, who don't let silly things like paying the rent get in the way of their gaming time. I only manage to fit in a few hours of online time per month, and I don't feel like spending them getting annihilated by a hypercaffeinated 12-year-old while 2 guys who don't even know which way the flag is ineffectually try to get my back.

So, Sony fans, enjoy your in-game XMB (I'll be quite happy to finally get it) - it's a nice start, but nowhere near enough.

U gotta be kidding me man, that thing is useless. I play guys on my level and still be owning them on xbox live in call of duty 4. People wonder why I am still on my first prestige and how do I get so many kills but they forget I use to be up there in top 5 in kills in PSN version of COD4. Like I said I only bought xbox live because my real friends only own an xbox 360 and so they kept asking me to come on live because everytime they came over when I use to play COD4 on PSN for so many hours they would see me rack up 40+ kills every game and I was playing hardcore team deathmatch. I stopped playing it for a while on my PS3 because none of my real friends were on PSN, of course I still made many new friends on PSN but they were people just randomly adding me and never played with them once. Now im on xbox live sometimes when I have time after work playing with some of my friends and the competition level on xbox live feels the same only difference is the new maps are still a learning proccess for me since I havent been playing much but I still rack up alot of kills.

Edit: Also on my PSN ID of COD4 I am a gold cross prestige and unlocked every golden gun on there. So to me it is a useless thing for me to do on xbox live because u do not benefit from prestige, it is just to show off and say u are suppose to be a high rank.

Um, how do you know when he should be working? Does making $52,000 a year mean you should never stop working?

I thought only specific games had their own skill match making like Halo 3 and CoD4. I've played against a wide range of skilled opponents in games that don't have the in-game match making system.

Yes I agree such a feature is absolutely vital to the experience. Who will protect me from myself? WHO I ask?

I know trueskill doesn't work that well in COD4... since thats what i usually play on live right about now.. I can't speak for other games though but I heard from my lil bro that it works well in halo 3.

The one game I have where I can say TrueSkill works is Halo3. And it's a good thing to have.

This is probably why MLG will never touch the PSN for competitions.

No, it's actually a great start. Matchmaking is really not that great, because it will still match you up with idiots and people who have done prestiege mode 5 times, who sit on a roof with a 50 cal. the whole game.

Halo 3 barely gives me "Skill Matchmaking." I go against people like 10x better than me each match.

Skill Matchmaking, I bet. :(

The Skill match up thing is really useful, I agree, but really its not too hard to just leave the game if you think you're going to get your ass kicked or if the guy you're playing has n00b stats...

a chunk of ps3 games use dedicated servers, this makes it pointless to implement such a feature...
