Insomniac: No more Resistance titles from us

Insomniac really proved their worth with Resistance 3's single player. I can't say I blame them. You can tell a lot of love and care went into making the single player and then the game just sold like crap with only the few who actually bought the game saying it was great and worth your time. Insomniac, sadly, really ruined the reputation of the series with Resistance 2. It's a shame because Resistance 3 has one of the best single player campaigns this gen. It's perfectly paced and has a lot of attention to detail, more so than any other insomniac game before. Ratchet and Clank CiT and Resistance 3 prove insomniac still got it. It's a shame we'll never see another Resistance game like 3 though...hopefully they can replace it with something great!

Good. Let's hope they have something new for us next gen.

Sly Cooper changed from Sucker Punch to Sanzaru for Sly 4: Thieves in Time.

Some games switch developer from the console developer when Sony puts it on PSP/Vita.

Can't say I'm surprised with how R3 ended. A really fun game, but at the end it just felt like Insomniac wanted to end the series completely.

Resistance burning skies is made by Nihilistic Software never heard of them. Resistance on psp was made by bend studio.p4s2p0

The single player was pretty damn good. The multi player is garbage.

I bought all 3 Resistance games + the PSP spin off. The problem was the game was set in some bizarre 1940's alternate universe that did appeal to gamers. Resistance would have done much better IMO if they got rid of all that alternate Universe garbage and just set the game in modern times.

That's quite disappointing but at the same time, a relief.

RESISTANCE franchise had everything going strong, in my opinion. The problem is with Insomniac's inability to FULLY maximize the games' potential, more specifically it's STORY and Characters. Nothing has really been fleshed out. You have your character in all 3 games wondering around, not just shooting, but searching aimlessly for hidden Files......for the sake of expanding & understanding the (back) story, which is frankly ridiculous. The SP campaign should be at least longer, like at least 12 hours. The last entry was really bad. Not abyssmally, but the levels were bad. The Penitentiary was really really unnecessary and had absolutely no bearings to the main story, it just had Malakov killed.

Overall, in my opinion, the Resistance series just needed the extra kick to the story line to keep it going and to keep it interesting.

Sad, really, it had so much potential in a genre often too formulaic and too saturated these days.

That's a shame. I always enjoyed the Resistance series. I guess gamers are more interested in modern military shooters than inventive and unique sci-fi ones.

I think Resistance is a great example of how marketing can make or break a game/series and how Sony is f*cking terrible at said marketing. I was always surprised that Resistance never achieved the level of success that Gears did. I mean, it was the killer app for the PS3 launch with tons of great multiplayer features that some games didn't incorporate until well into this gen; highest rated PS3 launch title and the first PS3 game to surpass 1 million sales. It hit all the right notes for a killer success and it started that way. How the hell did this series end like this? Not with a bang but with a whimper. Sony could have made this series so much more especially with how popular FPSs have become this generation.

Uncharted has 3 games, half the amount on one plaform. Not sure what the fourth uncharted on PS3 you quoted is, Ive never heard of it.

I also never once said an RTS was the same as a shooter, you shouldnt accuse people of saying things they never have.

It doesnt change the fact that 6 halo games have been made for one console. Sony have never released 6 games in a franchise on one platform.

Aw Insomniac :(, i got Resisitance 3 yesterday and after playig it for an hour i must say it could be the ebst Resistance game i play, they have done a great job but i guess if they want to let it sleep its their choice but please dont let go of Ratchet and Clank, my fav series i hope to see a new Ratchet game being announced this E3

Good, Resistance series sucked. R1 was ok but nothing special and the rest of the series was just mediocre, there was nothing about these shooters that stood out, it was just another bland shooter that had nothing going for it. Only thing people praised it was because of the 60 payer online, but that was just a gimmic (props though as it never lagged at all).

If you wanta great FPS on PS3 go buy Killzone, there is a game that not only looks amazing but plays just as amazing as well. It's probably the most advanced FPS ever on consoles and the enemy AI is really intelligent, it also has one of the best online MP this gen. The game may get some hate, but I can assure you that's from people who never played the games before, Killzone stands right up there with the other big dogs in the FPS world like Halo and COD. It's a game that anyone who is a fan of FPS games should buy. It has it's own unique style just like COD and Halo.

fair enough, I wasnt at any point saying they were the same game, just pointing out that as one franchise, on one platform, MS have doubled the number of games that Sony has ever managed.

I also said 'will have' in regards to Halo 4 not yet being available, its not out till fall I believe. I agree full heartedly that they are not the same games, my only point was in regards to a franchise, having multiple games on a single platform. MS take the cake by twice the amount that Sony does.
