Installs with Multi-disc's...BRING IT ON!!!!

I don't like the direction of the installs...but it affects my life Zero...And i cant remember the last game that I had to switch disc's...so that affects my life Zero..

Prefer switching discs only if it's 2 discs, anything more is outrageous, where I would prefer install (which I hate, it's a vein of evil, on consoles).

swapping disks doesn't take much time .. a lot lot less than an install, and it's not like you're swapping disks very often .. prob just once, twice at the most usually

and load times have been generally bareable this gen

also, you can play the game straight away rather than wait .. since you're always itching to play a new game ASAP

and my question is "Why are not ALL the developers using the PS3 HDD installs?

It can be debated and talked about until the end of time that the installs have helped in games like GTA...not the question..

But if it was such a huge advantage in game performance why would a developer NOT use them?

Would you rather wait for install or switch a disc?

Its not just that all of those games have almost double the amount of reviews then MGS4. Maybe when MGS4 has 100 and something reviews its score will be higher but right now comparing it is far from logical.

Switch disc. All the ones I played are done where there is no jumping back and forth. You just work your way through each disc. Wouldn't work in a sandbox game, but there are TONS of games that aren't sandbox.

What makes gamerankings cool is that they take into account alot of opinions from proffesional sites/mags and form general consensus. Thats way more telling than one score from one source... except for EGM since their reviews use like 4 different people.

Mutli disk, installs not only limit how many games you can pop in and play at any given time, it also eats up storage that could be used for music, movies, arcade or classic downloadable games, or demo downloads, installs fro consoles are terrible

Switch disc of course... it's not like you finish a game everytime you turn on your console... LOL

Second, it doesn't load your hard drive making a tiny 20 gb 360 hard drive more efficient than a bigger ps3 harddrive... LOLOLOLL

welcome to 500gb hdds being standard. why wait 4x as long for the game to load when you can have a one off 5-10min instalation?

it takes 5sec to switch a disc, installs take alot longer

Installs improve the load times and the quality in which the game runs. Multi disks is just a way to compensate for a smaller format and in no way improves games.

dvd9 is very very very slow too. doom3 take 10 mins to load a level running off a 16x dvd, its the dev not the media

Entirely depends on how its done for me.

If a game does anything similar to MGS4, definently not a fan of how it's installs work. Honestly, why do you need to install between levels? Why can't you install in the background behind all the cutscenes (and do loading for that matter)? But I don't really have a problem if a game has the option to be installed to enhance things. I do think that forcing an install takes away from being a console game. You should just be able to put the disc in and go.

Disc swaping is far from perfect also. If a game is a straight line linear thing, no problem (Lost Oddessy pretty much just switches discs for cutscences). Or if you want to put Multiplayer on one disc and Single player on another, thats not so bad (annoying though). However, if a game like GTA had disc swaping between islands or something, that would be a pain.
