It's sad that there were ~70 million PS3 and 360's (each) out there and games could barely manage a million units.

Not everyone who plays games on a platform is part of every game demographic.

Most pc games can barely manage 200k units.

Selling a million units doesn't make a game successful... especially if it costs $100+ million to make.

Just look at tomb raider reboot. SE originally considered it a failure even though it sold like 3 million copies

The same can be told about consoles. There a lot of trash on evey platform. You are just playing with statistics. PC games outnumber consoles games 100 to 1, and obviously most of them can not sell as much as multiplat titles. But all renown ips on PC sell really well, easily over a million copies.

DayZ sold over 2M copies so far.

Rust sold over 2M.

Rome 2 TW, 1.5M.

Civilization Series sold over 21M

Terraria, over 3M

Diablo 3, over 15M

Every Football Managers sells over 1M copies each iteration.

Minecraft, over 15M

Divinity Original Sin, 500k copies in one month

Star Citizen, over 500k copies in pre-orders

For every failed console game there's probably a failed mmo.

Did they ever state that Tombraider didn't make a profit or that it simply didn't meet expectations?

A potential market of 700+ million people is objectively bigger than a potential market of 20 million people (PS4/Xbone install base). Making the PC a significantly more appealing platform to developers who don't have publisher backing or quite the funds to pay out the ass for console licensing fees.

The reality is that the growth comes from places like China, and they aren't buying the latest and greatest games on steam. That's why the biggest games like GTA5 and Destiny aren't on PC right now. PC is an afterthought compared to consoles.

My lil cousin just entered his sophomore year at CUNY Brooklyn University and he just got a desktop from iBuyPOWER. I wish me, his big cousin could've built a rig for him, but I needed a buddy from the Army to build me, mine. So PC gamers will be at 1 billion eventually.

Yes, but when the muliplats on those 80 & 85 million consoles easily outsell the Pc version with 700 million, that's extremely sad. Looks like you completely missed my point. Games like CoD: Black Ops, GTA IV, ACIV, etc.. all sold way better on game consoles then on their PC counterparts. There's a lot less gamers on game consoles, then on PC. Also, there was way, way more games on PC that don't reach a million compared to game consoles. Probably because PC gamers pirate most of their games, even though they can get them dirt cheap on Steam. Yeah..very sad.

look up how many 660 or above series GPUs Nvidia has sold. Look up how many 7770 or above series GPUs AMD/ATI has sold. subtract maybe 10% as discarded and you have roughly how many systems are out there stronger than nex-gen consoles.

Barriers to entry on console are higher. On pc you simply download game. For console you have to download, burn to disc and also have to make modifications to console to allow playing of pirated games. Bluray discs are about $12 a piece for 50gb capacity. 25gb are about $1 but many games this gen will be over 25 gb.

Where would you even look that up? I've never seen Nvidia disclose sales of any gpu. Also even if they did we don't know how many were used for sli.
