...Halo does not have any decent story, at all. And don't say it has a massive backstory, because most of it is in books :|
Seriously, I bet a book designed for 10 year olds have a deeper story than Halo. Anthony Horowitz books anyone? :|
I don't think anyone I know played the game for the story, the closest I get is 'Master Chief is badass'

the Worst thing about Halo Wars isnt gonna be the controls either...its gonna be the fact that the gameplay looks absolutly basic...like C&C1 basic.
just look at this preview video for Company of Heroes, and try to say that Halo Wars is even close to that in depth.

Good for your opinion. My opinion is that it's my second favorite story ever, following Mass Effect. Halo was very different and had multiple stories going on at once. I loved every second of it.
Story? About 50% of people I see online haven't even PLAYED the story they want it for the FPS multiplayer. They'd see the difference between a FPS and a RTS they are complete idiots.darklord888
So you've asked an annonymous number of players that you've encountered on XBL if they've played Halo solely for its story? You must have access to an invisible ticker that says "This player buy Halo 3 for its multi/campaign."
Let me correct you: You have no way to distiguise either, you pulled that number straight from your behind. And you got nerve to bash ANY game for its story when your sporting a Command and Conquer Franchise in your UI, everything your saying can actually apply to it aswell, ironic.

So no one bought Halo for its single player when it launched? With nothing but speculation, we all knew that Halo would be this blockbuster when onling gaming for consoles virtually didn't exist and LAN gaming was impractical for the console crowd. If we have that kind of foresight then why do such horrible games sell so well.

In other words, they oversimplified the interface, so you can't micro manage like you can in most PC rts games?Vandalvideo
Why would simplification turn out to be a negative suddenly? 'Micromanagement' worked well in Tiberium Wars.
The way I see it with Keyboard is you have 88-105 keys, which in my mind posses too many oppertunitys for redundant keystrokes, which if you configure the layout yourself or simplify to your liking you could eliminate those mistakes.

In fact yeah it does say who has finished the single player or not and I said 50% of people I SEE online. I didn't say overall and I wasn't bashing Halo's story. It does have a weak story and I know C&C doesn't have a huge deep story. It isn't meant to it's meant to be cheesy(10 times that for red alert) with forced bad acting and over the top units and characters. Even so each C&C game has stronger characters than what Halo has without its books.darklord888
That doesn't mean anything..it just simply means "Who finished the campaign" Not who "bought Halo 3 for its story." So again, you have no way of knowing what intentions someone had of purchasing Halo. I highly doubt you've knowningly highlighted '50%' of the people you've encountered in Halo 3 based on data thats impossible to track. And, thanks for your opinion:)
Yeah no one bought Halo for the single player. That's what I said wasn't it? Honestly.
And if you read it properly you'd see I never said Halo had online. Multiplayer is split screen and system link as well which was Halo's strongest plus back then. Halo split screen was like SSBM, bigger even. Tons of people played Halo's multiplayer. Halo 2's online boosted it even bigger.darklord888
I'll just sum this up by saying: Link?

Oh I read it, but that doesn't do anything to help your argument..I'm still waiting on you to provide proof that says 'no one bought Halo for its single player'
You guys are arguing over nothing.
Halo had a decent story, not the greatest evar, nor the worst.
It became popular because its single player was a very accessible, run and gun shoot em up game, with some pretty cool weapons and variety, and a great vehicle in the warthog. It wasn't the best at any one item, it was just outstandingly good at combining a bunch of items into something quite fun.
And then co-op made it better, and legendary, and, and, and.....
None of which has anything to do with whether Halo Wars will be good and whether they can make a solid controller scheme for this particular game. I am willing to wait and see as I like the odd RTS and a few haven't been bad on the 360.

Seems like the people that actually have made games for both Console and PC disagree. That was hilarious, the guy who said it was important to be able to make 300 actions per minute. I doubt I could beat any 10+ actions per minute Korean starcraft gamer, professional or otherwise...let alone some 300 action jedi master :)
Nevertheless, the hermits miss the point on this time and time again,
1. a tiny wee pitifully small % of gamers play at that level. A game does not need to be designed to allow uber nerds sitting in front of their PCs making a zillion moves over 4 days and then dying of exhaustion...to be good.
2. console RTS can be just as enjoyable. We aren't losing anything. We are gaining what we otherwise would not have. We aren't competing against professional Korean players. We are playing against other console players with the same limitations.
3. We get it. KB/mouse is better for RTS (at least those to date...and maybe for ever). So what? I don't PC game. Period. Ergo, I am just fine with console RTS games. The more the merrier. The better and better the interfaces get the happier I am.
4. We don't care if it will never be as good as KB/M.
