Even the 360 laughs at mobile gaming's lack of gaemz.

ChubbyGuy40
That's funny cause 360 would be making fun of its little brother the zune with the smallest mobile library. But that's alright 360 probably has a bad memory from brain damage from having the worst hardwqare failure rate of all time.

Nice they can look as good as dedicated portables. Now if they added controls I would consider switching. But only if they can top vita's controls.

Tablets are bringing back the golden days of gaming. Very small teams with low risk budgets, bags of imagination, an easy platform to develop for and hardware that demands streamlined mechanics. If anyone thinks Angry Birds is the be all and end all of the touch experience, then they might as well kill themselves for being so dumb and ignorant. Since getting an iPad 2 I've put off getting a 3DS or Vita, there's no point yet.

Its ok zune is merging with windows 8 then you got 3 different platforms that can ideally share all thier games competing with you.

My main complaint with tablet and touch games are the controls for some genres. Companies produce 3d fps and tps constantly but for me they control terribly and make playing the games a chore instead of fun. When I purchased max payne mobile i had to rely on the game aiming for me half the time. If not for that I would die constantly. I am just not a fan of emulating the twin stick controls on phones. I find it sloppy and inaccurate. And because there is no tactile response I had to constantly look at my controls.

Some games work great on phones however. Games designed for the device from the beginning are awesome. But for me some of my favorite genres simply dont work.

Yeah it's excellent. However The marketplace is atrocious, utterly the worst thing. I like that anything can be sold on it, at the same time it's a horrible sink hole - and many good games simply get buried under absolute tripe. Apple could learn something from Steam, or hell, have a proper categorisation and recommendation system (like Valve).skrat_01

Yea the App Store is by far the worst, and I have no hope that it will get better simply because there are so many apps on it (around 600 000 last I heard).

But most systems do that nowdays with mini's on psn, live, eshop. I'm sure touch only is ok for most types of games. But I still feel like I can do more with controls. Resistance on vita I can be running, looking switching weapons at the same time if I want to. Between that and covering up the screen with our thumbs its not for me.

Why don't people just use resources like Slidetoplay.com to find out whats out there? People come to Gamespot for the same reason. I know there's 20 bad games on the Appstore for every good one, but are some people so dumb they can't look outside it for inspiration on what to get?

I forgot about XBLA and PSN, need to be a little beefier though. I can't speak for smartphones or iPod's because I don't have/don't game on them, but my fingers never cover anything important on my iPad.

I bet that is a sweet screen to play on and aren't there games for it not available on phone?

Yeah but there's some games that are only optimized for iPhone/iPod and have to be zoomed in to play properly, making them jaggy fests. Not too many like that though.

I think that's the same approach people took when someone smarter (and no doubt more handsome) tried to convince them that the earth was actually round.

Well, the game he put a picture of is the best iOS game, and one of the best games to have been released on a mainstream platform in the last ten years, so I think he was arguing FOR iOS gaming, not against it.

I don't know his position with any certainty, but I do know it is most certainly not what I would consider one of the best games. :P

It's okay, though. There are a ton of high quality gaming titles available, it's hard to pick a few as the best.

Yeah, iOS has a surprising number of great games on offer, And come on, game Dev Story is so good. I have a cumulative 129 hours sunk into it, that's more than I ever gave most console games. :P

If that is someones preference no problem but I like my shooters and was showing how good they can look. I switched it to nova 3 with a better showing than rage.

So far I have bought all the kairosoft games (the android ones at least) and I would have to say, I've enjoyed them more than I do most pc/console games. Game dev is their best, but I really like epic astro and the soccer one.

Also nice to see someone who actually agrees with me about Game dev on this on this forum.

Dude, most people on here love Game Dev Story. It's everyone's darling as far as iOS gaming is concerned I need to buy the other Kairosoft games. I still haven't bought them, because I was so disappointed that they wouldn't localize the sequel to GDS :P

The problem is most financial anaylist think this is the wave of the future. That cheap hardware and cheap casual games is the only way to go for video game makers to make money, and if thats the case I will get a new hobby. The funny thing is apple doesnt even produce cheap hardware its just extremly underpowered for its price .
