iPad 4x more powerful than iPhone 3G

pocketgamer.co.uk has revealed:

'In terms of the silicon guts, analysis and x-rays of the custom Apple A4 show it's been fabbed by Samsung and comes with two layers of RAM, giving a total of 512 MB.

That's twice as much as an iPhone 3GS. Of course, that's to be expected as the screen resolution is more than four times.

In terms of performance, benchmarking the iPad's OpenGL ES performance suggests it has a capability of 1.83 million triangles per second.

That compares to 2.15 million/sec for the MacBook Air (which runs on a 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 2 GB of RAM) and 0.423 million/second for the iPhone 3G (ARM1176 clocked at 412 MHz with a PowerVR MBX Lite GPU).'

the question remains to be seen if the iPad will have a big impact on gaming?

I doubt it, but I guess we will see.

Apple needs to build a strong first party, and get strong 3rd party exclusives to be taken seriously.

There was some new RE4 screens posted by an apple guy (iRobot/iSlaves/Iphonies, I don't think they get a name yet :P), and it didn't look all that great, and that was 2005's RE4.

I have some friends athat are Apple fanboys (Iphonies), so we'll see. I doubt it though. I think it will be like the Ipod/Iphone in terms of relevance.

Here's what I'm looking forward too, and it makes full use of the new Ipad.

It'll be interesting to see how developers will use that hardware.

The ipad so far is looking great and is really starting to get the attention of consumers. I will wait and see what people really think of it before I go and decide to get it myself. The only draw back for me is that even though it is portable it still is quite big and I will have to carry it around like a laptop rather than something like the iphone.

Will it replace my laptop? No, hence, making it a very pointless gadget. RE4 on my Laptop outshines the one on Ipad, not to mention better control scheme on my laptop, and majority of the games on my laptop already pee all over Ipads announced titles. People only are a sucker to this because its an "I" Product.

For those that aren't wanting an Ipad, what do you think of this?

The iPad is weak compared to some of the tablet competition.

The MSI Tegra 2 tablet is many times more power and offers much more with a rumored price of below 500 USD.

No, it wasn't actually official. It was just a few Apple fans that were trying to find a name for themselves (Both were brand new posters, one is now banned, and the other just appeared here a week or so ago), and as you know, the fans can't name themselves. Sheep didn't name themselves, Lemmings, etc.

Worms is too complimentary when comparing to a name like Sheep, Cows, etc...and some others felt it should be barnyard animals, instead of an insect.

That thread was all over the place.

Anyways, a poll was made with only five options, pushing for what he wanted, but you know how SW works.:P

Either way, many in SW over the years said Apple fans don't get a name until the fan base grows in SW. Otherwise, we may as well name other things, like Arcade gamers, OnLive fanboys, etc. We should all wait until we have a product that makes a huge fanbase for us to deal with in SW.:P

But there was no offical agreement in SW, just a broken poll made by that new Apple poster honestly...who may be the other apple buy from last year that was banned for all I know. :P

if that were legit Id honestly buy an ipad. that looks amazingly nostalgasmic.

i seriously don't understand why people go for apple products when there are a lot of good alternatives and for cheaper. i won't deny that apple has made some great innovations over time but the ipad is not one of them. if they claim the ipad will revolutionize the laptop then why can it NOT do some of the basic things my laptop can do like using flash when web browsing or multitasking and this is all while being cheaper than the ipad.
