  1. Only fanboys care about graphics.
  2. The graphics aren't ugly, its a great looking game. I just doesn't look amazing like most game do now.
  3. The gameplay has never been bad in Halo, and Bunge changed a few things to balance it well.
  4. The game comes with all of the Halo 3 maps (downloadable only I think).
  5. It has Firefight, a survival mode for the Halo series.
  6. It comes with Halo: Reach Beta.
  7. The game itself is not an expansion anymore. In the last year, Bungie has added much more thing to the game where it is longer and is able to stand alone from the rest of the series.
  8. I don't see how its outdated.

Just remember, when Halo ODST acheives yet another trifecta (High Score, High Sales and Continued Replayability,) cows will start the 'be bu bu teh over rated' mantra again. Want to bet this game outsells all of Sony's supposed high quality library this year?

halo 3 was released in 07. odst in 09. odst will probably have slight improvements. also your paying about what like 20-30 for odst. the other 30-40 is for halo 3 multiplayer plus all map packs that were released. thats a good value for someone that doesnt have halo 3 or didnt buy any of the map packs. also the firefight mode in odst can be pretty entertaining from the looks of it. also for those interested in the future you will get a key or whatever for the halo reach multiplayer beta. which will help push sales. i bought 2 of the halo 3 map packs. but i dont own halo 3 anymore. but i think i will pick up odst so i can have the multi again + the new map pack i i didnt get + odst and firefight and then the beta invite. at the end of the day haters of halo will hate just like anything else for any other game.

i dont get it FPS are still copying the things Halo 3 did yet its outdated? Halo 3 ODST will bea great game, and looks like the Single player is going back to its roots, and is going to be alot more in depth. A new MP mode which i concede is a variation of horde mode looks like it will be fun, and fully believe Bungie will make sure to make it as unique as possible. Why are fanboys so blind, and delusional? wait dont answer that.

A beta is not a legitimate reason to buy a game.... Betas are for free....they are legitimate pre-order bonuses and legitimate select downloads to applicants, but this idea that a piece of software is worth more because it includes a beta is....wow. Only on Xbox.

But you can only get the beta if you buy ODST, which is a legitimate reason (in this case) to buy the game. So technically, its not free, not this time.

That included an access key to the Uncharted 2 beta on PRE-ORDER. The thing about pre-orders is that they involve a 5 dollar deposit and are completely refundable, meaning you can pay them five dollars, get the beta key, then cancel the pre-order. They're actually requiring you to buy the game in order to get the beta, which isn't a dishonest practice, it's actually cool, but please don't pretend it's the coolest "feature" ever. It shouldn't even be on that list.

People on SW are too caught up on graphics. Because Halo: ODST's visuals aren't a huge upgrade from Halo 3 (despite the fact that they still look quite good), people automatically assume that the game is going to be outdated. Flawed reasoning? Very much so. Unfortunately, I've yet to see that stop many folks around here from using it.

So the costs for getting a beta key are subtly increasing? That was the purpose of the "Only on Xbox" comment. Let me put it this way, you can be happy about purchasing your game and getting your beta key if you want one, but don't make it a point of contention when arguing the value of the game's purchase price. That kind of thing makes people look like a major sucker to me.

1- Graphics aren't impressive on a technical level, but the Halo artsty-le has always een good 2- There are TOO many games this gen that have dated gameplay for instance RE 5 and Killzone 2 did alot of things that had allready been done before. 3- Your judging the gameplay without ever picking the gamepad up and actually playing the game 4- An EXPANSIOn should never be 60 bucks, so while your reasons were pure garbage(congrats), the fact that the game is an expansion is why the game should not be 60 god damn dollars.

Yup, $60 for a future AAA game is hella much! New 5-6 hour single player campaign unique to the Halo games, co-op horde-like mode, all the Halo 3 maps, and more. If $60 is a lot for this, then you shouldn't be into this hobby to begin with, no offense. It's not a cheap hobby.

Oh boy...

Wrong.

Players were given access to the inFAMOUS demo when they pre-ordered the game. The Uncharted 2 beta key is included with copies of the game.

Notice how it says you receive the Uncharted 2 beta voucher when you purchase inFAMOUS.

I must say that overall ODST looks WAY more appealing to me then Halo 3, Im a sucker for Urban warfare :3 even if it is nothing gameplay changing.

I am a bit nervous about the "flashjumping" between characters in the game, I doubt I will like that part, but a more or less FreeRoaming Halo game, that is darker more moody and (seems to me) more thought out? Ill bite, and I really diddnt like Halo 2 or 3...

Are you making a point? Because I know if I don't buy ODST, and can't play the beta, firefight, or the campaign. The beta is a reason to purchase ODST. So what betas are free, this one technically isn't.

No, but you're making yourself a very easy customer. God, I wish I was Microsoft, reading this post. I'd be rubbing my hands together and scheming as to how to scam you out of more money. "LOL EXCLUSIVE PROMO ACCESS KEY FOR PICTURE SET ON HALO GLADIATORS AND EXCLUSIVE ACCESS BETA CALL FOR HALO CRABPUNCHER GAME SET WITH PURCHASE PRICE OF HALO RUGBY WARS!" I can just imagine you counting your dollars and cents. First, Halo Wars Collectors edition had some "exclusive" map packs, and Crackdown had an "exclusive" Halo 3 beta access and now Halo 3 ODST includes a beta access key to Halo: Reach. Tell me, which of these did you NOT buy?

i never bought halo wars. i bought crackdown and enjoyed both the game and the beta. cant wait for crackdown 2. i dont own odst yet but will for all the reasons i mentioned. also infamous includes uncharted 2 beta key and you have to buy infamous.

also ms is great at advertising and selling many of there games. you dont like it fine. but guess what this is a business and you want to sell products. if you dont likehow ms does business then dont buy any of there products and get over it. also your whole lil point about if ms read my comment is total bs. my money is mine and i can spend it the way i choose.

$60 for a game that looks better than it's predecessor

Has more content than lots of $60 games.

Has more content than it's predecessor including multiple map packs that all cost money.

Has a beta key for the next Halo game. **** all you want about it not being free, and nobody will actually care.

And to top it all off it will score AAA.

$60 for a game that's going to be better, and have more content than 95% of games out there? Sign me up.

Well, Bungie has stated before that Halo: ODST has evolved from their original "expansion" ideas and has grown into something much more than that. For all intents and purposes, Halo: ODST is more of a full-fledged interquel now.

So you think Halo ODST is outdated because of its graphics?

Nobody plays Halo for its graphics.

And as for the question, ODST is a full game, not an expansion as many say it is.

[QUOTE="Brownesque"][QUOTE="Avian005"] That included an access key to the Uncharted 2 beta on PRE-ORDER. It shouldn't even be on that list.Avian005

Wrong.

Players were given access to the inFAMOUS demo when they pre-ordered the game. The Uncharted 2 beta key is included with copies of the game.

Link

Notice how it says you receive the Uncharted 2 beta voucher when you purchase inFAMOUS.

i was thinking this nice find. i tried to look for it but couldnt find it thanks for helping my point.

My mistake. Only on failure consoles, then.

who cares its a perfectly legitmate reason to buy the game if your interested not only in odst and what it offers but what the future halo series will be like in halo reach and its multilplayer.

More like tell everyone which of those games was actually bad? I know it's hard especially since you haven't played them I'm sure.

That's the point. Not defending the OP, it's not very....persuasive? I mean, it basically says graphics are gross, therefore, outdated.

what makes a console a failure? just cause its not leading in sales who cares. it all depends on the consumers and how they feel about their purchase not a number and sales? you cant play sales. you dont make any profit off sales because you own a certain system unless you somehow work for that company. seriously wtf are complaining about.

i never bought halo wars. i bought crackdown and enjoyed both the game and the beta. cant wait for crackdown 2. i dont own odst yet but will for all the reasons i mentioned. also infamous includes uncharted 2 beta key and you have to buy infamous.

also ms is great at advertising and selling many of there games. you dont like it fine. but guess what this is a business and you want to sell products. if you dont likehow ms does business then dont buy any of there products and get over it. also your whole lil point about if ms read my comment is total bs. my money is mine and i can spend it the way i choose.

I'm impressed that you didn't buy Crackdown, what can I say. "also ms is great at advertising and selling many of there games." No, they're not. They're great at exploiting the name "Halo," as my examples and your response illustrate.

i did buy crackdown apparently you misread. your pretty good at that arent you? also is good at advertising. halo series has solds how many millions. gears of war series has sold how many millions? mass effect sold over a million. fable 2 over a million. im assuming viva pinata and banjo if not over a million were close. forza 2 has to be over a million or close. you just hate ms we get it.

TC rated Resistance 2 a 10/10, which is about on par with Halo 3 visually. If this weren't an Xbox 360 exclusive and/or Halo, then this thread wouldn't exist.

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]1- Graphics aren't impressive on a technical level, but the Halo artsty-le has always een good 2- There are TOO many games this gen that have dated gameplay for instance RE 5 and Killzone 2 did alot of things that had allready been done before. 3- Your judging the gameplay without ever picking the gamepad up and actually playing the game 4- An EXPANSIOn should never be 60 bucks, so while your reasons were pure garbage(congrats), the fact that the game is an expansion is why the game should not be 60 god damn dollars. The_Game21x

Well, Bungie has stated before that Halo: ODST has evolved from their original "expansion" ideas and has grown into something much more than that. For all intents and purposes, Halo: ODST is more of a full-fledged interquel now.

The multiplayer is entirely Halo 3 and nothing else after that its a campaign mode and fire fight. Time will tell how long the campaign will be, but all signs point to the game basically being an expansion still. It is still "Halo 3: ODST" it is still designed to expand the Halo 3 experience a bit more. Sure they have said that there have been some design changes as more time has passed, but i think alot of that is just PR BS to cover there own ass. So i still say the game being a 60 dollar expansion still ticks me off.....even if it does look like.......fun P.S. If you try to fix gramatical errors so help me :P

If people are willing to pay money for something, then that something has value to them. If someone, as a business, has to give your product away, that means that people don't want it. It's not a good sign when a business says "here, it's free, please, take it, we're begging you".

You don't understand the whole consumer aspect of things. I hate this justification.... If "they're a business, they want to suck your blood and take everything you own" is a legitimate justification for exploitation, "I'm a consumer and I want free stuff NAOOOOO" should be a legitimate justification for everything that I want.

If you ask me $60 bucks is too cheap... this game will likely be considerably better than most of the other $60 games released this year, so what's wrong with the asking price for ODST?

1- Its called business :| 2- Its a beta? buying the game is just one way to entre the beta, you can always sing up for the Halo Reach Beta and try to get in on luck. Halo 3: ODST just gets you a guaranteed beta spot if you want to reserve ODST. How is that forcing you to pay for the beta? there are other ways to get in, and this tactic has been done for awhile now if im not mistaken. The beta is more or less a nice bonus for people who felt like reserving Halo 3: ODST.

The expansion price is fair to me. I mean, expansions to WoW have been more expensive than the actual game itself. And the Guild Wars campaigns get more expensive with each one.

Likewise, stop telling me that it is a legitimate reason. Complaining for it will send a message to the producer, whereas bending over and taking it will send an entirely different message to the producer, as can clearly be demonstrated by the Halo 3 and Reach beta keys and the "exclusive" map pack. See Windows Live for details.

A business owner and a consumer who shares your viewpoint both go to court. The judge says to the business owner "why did you charge for your product?". The business owner replies "I want to make money, people don't have to buy my product, but I do my best to sell it". The judge would reply "well, you haven't broken any laws, you're free to go". - Now your consumer goes before the judge. The judge asks "why did you take a bunch of games, online services, and accessories without paying for them?". The consumer replies "because I wanted them, and I feel like they should be free because I want them!". The judge would reply "that's theft, enjoy your jail cell". - Business create products you want. That's their job. If they didn't make you want their products, they'd go out of business. However you're wanting them is not a justification for making them free. Your *demand* for those products in the face of a limited *supply* is, in fact, precisely why we charge. Price is a function which acts as a regulatory mechanism between supply and demand.

1 - I'm called a consumer. What's your point? 2 - that is something I did not know and alleviates some of my tension, it is indeed a nice bonus. Even so, it utterly obliterates "it has a beta key therefore" as a legitimate reason to buy the product.
