I am a hardcore pc gamer, and for my birthday as a present to me im going to upgrade my Pc(Nvidia 590 biach) and mabye get a hand held... is a #ds worth it if not whats a good alternative?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Not yet, but around november it will be.
I bought one early because I didn't have a ds, and am playing a bunch of ds games I missed out on. So I would say if you don't have a ds, then the 3ds is worth it now :P
I think its stupid, but if you are going to get one wait till the holidays. More blockbuster titles coming out then, and I'm sure some retailers will offer some extra goodies or 3DS bundles to help sweeten the deal by then.
No, the system is a joke.
All the games on it are a joke; none of the games are difficult at all.
It's a system which has games that you can't lose playing on.
If I had to rank it from 1-5 it would be the rank-Casual.

I want a system with games that are HARD. Game not made for 10 year olds A challenge that I can enjoy.

I don't know if they'll be hard, I left my delorian at home. And if you haven't noticed not many games are challenging this gen without being cheap.
Someone hasn't beaten Master Quest. :PBut are they difficult?

Who are you and what have you done to Coolyfett? :PBuy the 3DS as soon as you can so that you can experience 3D, with NO GLASSES. So many great games are available. Its a really great investment.

Great handheld. Fun games.
Games are somewhat expensive, but many places (like Amazon) have sales and promotions (buy one get one 50% off, buy two get one free, $20 cash back pre-order bonuses, etc.) on 3DS games, so that should help. Also Amazon has a $25 credit back on 3DS right now.
There are a lot of cheap little games on the eShop like Cave Story, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Plants vs Zombies, Bejewled Twist, Mighty Flip Champs, a couple of virtual console games (Kirby, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX). You also have the 3D Classics remakes: Excitebike and Xevious.
Also, it does allow you to play the vast DS library, which has tons of amazing games (hopefully in genres you like, or otherwise you might not care).

Great investment......??The 3DS graphics are not better than the PS2 games.
3D, with NO GLASSES....??3D gives headaches and it is dangerous for the children.

So Graphics determine the quality of a system? Excellent logic, bro.3D effect should not be given to children under the age of 6 because their eyes are still developing. I have literally no idea why you even mentioned that...
Only few gamers get headaches, if you get a headache, consult a doctor or don't use it, no one is forcing you too. And don't give me, "THATS THE REASON WHY I BOUGHT IT" because we all know you bought it for the games.
EDIT: I wonder when people make that claim that it causes eye strain or headaches. I think they are afraid to even try it. :P
EDIT AGAIN: I know your a Vita fan, but theres really no reason for you to mindlessly bash the 3DS.
I think for those who don't own a ds a 3ds is more than worth it, but for those like me that own any kind of previous launched ds system waiting until the holydays would be a good choice seeing that by then there will be a lot more 3ds titles but i don't know if the 3d effects are good and if someone here already experienced it i would like to know if it plays out fine. Depending on your taste waiting for ps vita is always an option too.

Lol, Resident Evil: Revelations destroys any PS2 game. :lol:but MGS3 is coming out in HD foor ps3 an 360Not yet, but around november it will be.

DS had a terrible start to, the 3DS will definitely catch on fast. I think the price tag is a bit to much, they should lower it 50$, especially when the Vita comes out. Just wait till the 3DS gets some bigger titles like Mario kart, Super mario brothers, smash brothers and pokemon. Zelda Ocarina of time is already out and Star fox 3DS is right around the corner.
Give it awhile, it's launch line up was terrible but it will pick up fast. I'm picking up a 3DS soon, mostly because I just want to go through Ocarina of time again and play some old DS titles I never got to play.
Did you ever have a DS?
If not, get one now, if yes I would wait a little till the games come out for 3DS.

That quote is over-used and totally wrong. It is not 3D, it's depth. And it's dumb. And it kills the battery.

You want a system with games that are hard? I take it you don't own a 360 or ps3 then. Games in general these days are pretty easy.

the 3ds can also do pop out 3d very wellyes many times brother billy has been watching me play from 90 degree angle and would plenty of times ask me why link was standing on touch screen.
[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]but MGS3 is coming out in HD foor ps3 an 360 He said he is a PC gamer, might not have one of those. And MGS3D could possibly be the weakest link of the 3DS holiday lineup. Not yet, but around november it will be.

Sadly the popout doesn't really work with my eyes. They're like 'hun, you don't think we don't know that there aint no real link popping through the glass' and I just reply with a sad silence.I'm sorry I just, I'm just trying to figure out why you held the shift key for the 3 and not the ds. Just give me a moment to get past that because its bugging me.
Ok, I'm good.
I don't think so yet. I think it will at some point, but the best game it has atm is a remake, so I would wait unless you haven't played the any for of OoT. If you haven't played OoT, its worth it.
3ds is worth every penny it plays all ds , and has a virtual console service with 2 3d oldies -as in 3d versions of old games added to vc so far ,
and tey are excite bike and xevious , also now have netflix and nintendo video channel , available , so ya , dont let these guys who like vita! which willl b nothing more then a ds with fancy graphics without these features of course lol

after all the years of the PSP being bashed by DS fans..It's our turn. so I guess you can say the cards have turned at this moment.
with a 250$ price tag for the Vita and all the good games already announced, I'd say it's looking less and less appealing to buy a 3DS. And even after the holidays, there won't be a ton of games for the 3DS.
But it also comes down to personal taste in video games that also makes the decision on which game system to get. So really, to answer the TC question "Is the 3ds worth it?" I don't know, what kind of games do you like? And do you see yourself playing console quality games on the go? or more of the casual games? look at the game lineup for both systems and make your choice
