It's a niche console inside the US and UK, too. One good holiday season doesn't make something the norm. Especially given the fire sale on the thing when that sales bump occurred.

The only reason why the XBone has an existence at all is due to the toxic press and rhetoric that was prevalent in the US during the PS3 years. Some die-hards decided they were going to hate the Playstation and go with the XBox based on hipster-cool factor consumerism. For those people, Bill Gates could bend over on stage and let loose a shit with the consistency of tapioca at E3 calling it the new Xbox, and they would buy it.

Unfortunately, the Bone has about one more helping of that fanbase to bite into with the next Halo game and the ride is over. I honestly doubt they will have the same run this November and December in NPD that they enjoyed last year when they cut the price of their machine by $150 and bundled at least $120 more in software with the effing thing. They've been banging away all year at their shift light with the price drops and re-bundles trying to stay relevant. That motor does not have much mileage left in it.

Hahahahaha, man you are blind. Sony has barely any game that has a lot of hype surrounding it, and everyone is looking forward to. While Microsoft has Forza 6, Halo 5, and next Tomb Raider. Combine that with the backwards compatibility, and that they will cut the price down again for 50-100$, they will easily get those numbers. They have been doing better than previous year, each month, and that will suddenly stop.

Take a look at Q3/Q4 of 2015 all the way through to Q2 of 2016 maybe even Q3 2016.

The fact that it didn't have exclusives for so long and now their popping off should actually make you think otherwise than you are.

Perhaps the word irrelevant is a stretch? The GameCube wasn't irrelevant. It just wasn't necessarily relevant. Relevant platforms don't need to take $200-$300 nosedives before their first birthday. It's not a hard concept to understand. Lord knows, it's not a concept lost on the big publishers. We all know where Titanfall 2 is gonna drop.

I agree with you on the Xbox One dropping in price... It's actually a cheap move from MS.

They can start with a high price and then slowly drop it as sales start to hit a certain amount...say every 500K sales, they drop it a bit. But they'll stop eventually.... When they find the perfect spot where they can still satisfy their greed but still look rational in their price. Smart moves. Yes, indeed. Well at least they are starting to prove themselves with backwards compatibility with no additional cost, you just need Gold Subscription.

Seems that way. At this point, I'm not sure I would like things to change. The Xbox brand deserves to get more sales, but I really like how things are with the console. Its getting a ton on internet support and fan service that is awesome. Killer apps. amazing updates and features.... and awesome exclusives. It they got more popular, I'm afraid it would turn into another bro console. In a way, the XOne is the console version of the Vita... lol.

Are you alright buddy? the only reason the Xbox is doing as well as it is is because of bad sony press in the 360/PS3 era?? It is quite clear the reason why the xbox One is doing as bad as it has been has nothing to do with Sony. It is because of the bad press it earned during the the leaks about the console before E3 and then their E3 announcement prior to their 180. I mean, rightly deserved. it was a fucking disaster. But there are so many morons today that still look at the Xbox as that same machine and just love to talk shit. some actually think it is still a DRM machine.

I agree. It was such a colossal fuckup. Thank God for Phil Spencer... if he wasnt available to turn it around, i dont know who could. More apology should have been given. but at this point that is all they can do than what they already are. whether it was a flop at the beginning or not... or no matter the bad press it received, the fact is it is a great machine with great games and features. a console doesnt deserve bad press and lies being spun about it just because it had a bad start. or because not enough fucks were sorried after the fact. you came out saying in an earlier post, that in spite of it being a good machine, the only reason why it is selling at all is because of bad Sony press last gen. not only does that not make sense, but you are contradicting yourself.

A niche console? What exactly does that even mean, I'm sure it's some negative perception on the console. But I think a console that's selling more than it's previous counterpart at this same amount of time, selling over 10 million units in 2 years, having a great holiday of 1st and 3rd party games, having quite a few 1st party games as well as most 3rd party games in 2016 and now integration of Windows 10 into it's U.I. would be called a "niche" console.

I voted no simply because the XB1 is outselling the PS4 in South America. It also sells pretty good in Canada as well, along with Australia.

Xbox one is strong in Mexico, Brazil and Canada in addition to Xbox brand doing well in the U.K and U,.S..A The Xbox brand is mostly a niche brand in other regions. So Microsoft does have some countries were the Xbox brand is strong. Australia could have been a MS stronghold but the exchange rate is unfavourable.
