It is not on the top of my list, but it IS on my list, I liked the first one, diddnt play the expansions, and altho the story sounds "meh" Im gonna buy it
Hellyeah! If all you played was the expansion pack or the original FEAR on Easy/Normal I can see why you'd be sayin 'Meh...'. I was the same way until I went for the 'Fearsome' achivement (finish game on highest difficulty) and the AI was absolutely amazing - I would encounter a squad and thought Id cleared em out and then BAM!- shot from the two who doubled back around me and came up from behind. Yeah the graphics are dated (almost 4 yr old game) but it still had cool effects like the vision obstructing smoke after an intense firefight.
I'll wait and see how improved the game is before I run out and purchase it. The original had some of the best AI in recent memory and if Monolith manages to improve on it significantly then I'll probably pick it up.
In order for it to really be good, I think it needs to a) mix up the enemies b) mix up the levels c) improve the music... FEAR had the worst "atmospheric" music I think I've ever heard. It's 50 percent to blame for the game boring me out so much( on my second play through. the first time was pretty beast)

I saw a preview on xplay last week - they showed footage with a level involving a mech that the player could capture and pilot. The player/mech pretty much decimated everything and anyone in radius of the mech. They confirmed its not office park/warehouse levels this time.
I kinda liked the atmospheric music, reminded me a lot of Aphex Twin Sel Amb Works 2. I left it on, and I usually kill the music in most games.
FEAR is one of my fave FPS's of all time, so I'm looking forward to FEAR 2. If it changes up the enemies/level types(Oh cool another office building), adds more scares, and actually has your character talk, then it'll be golden from the looks of it.
