Is anyone else so sick of the type of games released these days?
Because there are getting less and less that I like. If it weren't for maybe half the games I listed I might have given up on gaming a long time ago.ShadowsDemon

You own a PC, so go play some PC games. There are tons that fit what you need.

I guess so, but I'm not a fan of arcade/indie titles. Nor do I like RTS.

So don't play them. I can see by your idea of what PC gaming has to offer that it's no wonder you think there are so few games available to you today.

You could play the STALKER series, or The Witcher series, Amnesia, The Legend of Grimrock, Mount & Blade Warband, Half Life and Portal series, L4D2, Neverwinter Nights 2, Deus Ex, etc
also, I'd suggest not maintaining the idea that you'll not enjoy any arcade/indie or RTS game. It's not as if they all play the same
There are so many shooters constantly coming out...so why can't there be similar types of games to these constantly coming out?ShadowsDemon
I don't know what to tell you. You're asking how come companies don't flood the market with games that don't sell as well as other games. You've answered your own question imo. Really, look around at gamers. They're why. When they were lapping up music games, publishers were flooding the market with like 20 titles a year. Publishers will make whatever people will buy. Consumers are totally in control. Shooters get the most games coming out because people buy them the most. It's not a company being vindictive or anything wrong, they're just focusing on making games that people actually want to buy. Plus, as I said before, niche games and non-shooter games still come out so it's not like these other genres have been abandoned. You just don't get as many of them as you do games in the #1 selling genre.

Amen! Sadly with development costs on the rise, we don't see many different titles, taking risks these days can be a huge blow and with todays generation and mentality...sticking to what works just makes sense, and since people keep coming back, they will keep making the same types of games. Just not enough of us for them to warrant such vast majority of immersion and depth, concerning both gameplay and story. Tired of games playing themselves.

That's a great observation there.

I have some of those titles. Just look at my sig. It's not just "original" titles that I want. I want games that involve you emotionally, cause you to think afterwards about the game, immerse you, etc, etc. I can tell ya now L4D2 doesn't have that.

If you just want an awesome game then play any of the ones I have listed.

Playing Radiant Historia right now and played Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors before this. I'll be getting Kid Icarus and The World Ends With You later. There are plenty of games that fit your description. You just have to look :)

I'd suggest picking up Lone Survivor, but, I guess you don't like indie/arcade games.

Hell, with that kind of attitude, no wonder you feel the way you do. Most of the best games I've played this gen have been those kind of titles. Sure...some of them are shorter than others, but $60 games with a 5 hour single player experience are being released all the time. Some sans multiplayer.

I'd argue that Trials Evolution is the best game to be released for the 360 this year. It's May. Come on now...

I dont understand why TC complains about COD and Battlefield yet says he plays them? It makes no sense. if I dont like it, I have nothing to do with it.

Because they might be good, but in the long run they don't have the gaming experience I want to have.

I would also not dismiss indie titles too quickly. I mean I feel the same way about a lot of indie titles; they just aren't for me, but there is at least something there for everyone.

The indie scene what is bringing us a lot of old school adventure titles. They aren't graphical showcases or anything, but they have puzzles, they have great writing in a lot of cases, and they're just quite enjoyable to play through.

Personally, when it comes to indie titles, I tend to stay away from most because I agree most just aren't all that special, but there is always one every now and again that'll pique my interest.

I wish Military FPS games would go away for a while; I'm so sick of COD, Battlefield and all the clones and rehashes of these games.

That is why I usually buy games innovative or new ip games, regardless of their reviews & scores, if we don't help companies who dare do something new, or at least make a game that is not COD but with mutant dogs, then we won't get what we want.

Sounds to me like you need to play less mainstream games, bro.

Might I recommend just about anything on the PC?

So long as you stick to exclusives on the ps3 and wii you should be good.

that said, there are some ps3 exclusives that fall into that unorginal category like resistance or uncharted.

It is probably tied to the decline of quality of the Japanese game industry when it comes to console games.

See in recent years we've been fed un-original, inane and pointless titles such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, Dead Island, etc. I'm not saying these are bad games. I'm just saying I'm sick of them.ShadowsDemon

There are more games not like the ones you mentioned than are like the ones you mentioned. Open your eyes up and look.

I am more sick of the whining over things that can be ignored. If people are sick and tired over certain types of games, they should not play them, nor care about them. Remove them from their minds as if they never existed. Whining will not help and makes gamers look like spoiled brats.

There are more, different types of games available nowadays than there ever was. You'd have to be literally blind, or dumb, not to see them. Or you just don't like gaming and should get another hobby.

Dead Island may not necessarily be original, but it's hardly a game that maintains the status quo. For all intents and purposes it sticks out from the rest of the market. jg4xchamp
It a shame that game was broken when it was originally released and made me went from enjoyment to hatred.

You need to change your focus. There's a huge amount of absorbing and engaging as well as original games out there, far more now then in the last decade. Be it on consoles, smartphones or the PC (which really is the hotbed for this kind of creativity), there's tons of stuff out there. Mainstream retail gaming can be dull like that, all you need to do is look away from it.
