I flat out dont get this project by nintendo, it makes absolutely no sense even if it appeals to a vast consumer group.

Why do you need to spend $250 on the wii plus the price of the game and balance board to do things like push ups, yoga, or hula hoop? You can buy a hula hoop for a dollar, you dont need anything for yoga or pushups unless you are a flamer and need one of those half inch thin mats for $5. Is it necessary to do these mundane things while watching a graphical image of a man or woman replicating your movements on screen? Is this fun? Why dont wii fit enthusiast go out and play soccer for once instead of moving around slightly leaning left and right?

I have to finish by saying that even the activities in wii fit seem very unathletic and will probably burn you like 20 calories unless youre doing it for 15 hours straight or something. I think this is seriously the dumbest, most pathetic and gimmicky game ever created.

What are your thoughts?

Nope, not really. I'm an avid Nintedo fan, and while the idea is kind of cool it's just not for me.

i guess it is an innovative thing but has no place in gaming and you can do pretty much everything on wiifit in real life for an extremely cheap value, seriously hula hooping is not fun when it costs over $300

Yeah kinda. It'll help me vary my workout, plus the yoga should help my flexibility. I'll pick it up as long as its reasonably priced.

So lemme get this straight...you're asking a HARDCORE GAMING crowd if they're excited for Wii Fit?

I mean, if this game was supposed to cater towards the hardcore gamer, don't'cha think it would actually play like, you know...a game?

I'm totally hyped for this game. I love how Nintendo is giving me an outlet to try something new and different. I own a Wii, DS, 360 and PC and my most anticpated titles are mainly Nintendo's. Its just so refreshing to see crazy stuff thrown out there. They get a lot of flak on system wars but they are really doing a great job with their Wii and DS.

im not asking if hardcore fans like it im asking everyone...and i made great points as to why this game is well not a game hahah...its just pointless for real people you dont need wii fit to do any of the "workouts" on the game its the biggest rip off in the history of the world haha (exaggeration a lil bit there)

You can also workout and be fit without weights or a gym; that doesn't stop people from paying for gym membership.

Getting into a workout routine is much easier when it's interactive, or when you have something to pass the time with. That's why treadmills are often placed in front of televisions, or why people bring iPods to the gym. Wii Fit just takes both of those, interactivity and something to watch/listen to, and slams them together.

I do work out regularly and I play rugby, I'm probably in way better shape than you are or ever have been. I just like the idea of being able to vary my workout (the sameweights, treadmill and bike get old fast)and I've been thinking of getting into yoga for a year or two now, this could be a good starter. Did you even read my post?

What watching a person on the screen doing pushups like you is fun? i can see the ipod on a treadmill and you cant lift weights without well paying for the weights or a gym membership then your pretty much forced to other workouts like running, or pushups or yoga and its really more fun to do yoga while watching tv then while watching your 3d figure do the same workout on tv

So you essentially said that innovative games don't have a place in the industry, well if the Wii and DS did not exist then the industry would be in a severe decline. Plus it is expected to cost $70.

i was including the price of the wii and yeah its innovative and i guess i couldve worded the "no place in gaming part" better but this isnt a game really, eye toy was a game cuz it had goals to accomplish and sometimes actually gave me a workout but wii fit is doing yoga or pushups while watching a person do the same thing

not really for gamers, but i still think it could be useful for workouts. It willsuggest a good routine, being like a trainer, hopefully with variable resistance. It would be a good thing for charting your progress in charts and such, with your workout probably altering as you achieve more.

This game could have the kind of appeal that dvd players had in the playstation 2. The ps2 was an expensive dvd player, but people knew it played games as well so they were happy to pay the extra cost. Mind you, a workout trainer is hardly as signficant as a dvd player add on was back when the ps2 was on the rise, but you catch my drift ;)

No, dude, the person on the screen and the music from the television is the interactive part; it sets the pace for the exercise that you're doing.

You're not just watching that guy do the pushups, you're doing the pushups in sinc with that guy. In essence, that guy doing pushups is the same thing as the arrows in DDR: you know what you're supposed to do, the visual cues just tell you when, how often, and for how long you're supposed to do it.

For the price of a Wii + WiiFit you could easily get a decent gym membership or at least buy some cheap infomercial exercise equipment.

Although theres bound to be someone who claims that WiiFit is for people who lack motivation to get out and exercise, but even then, the WiiFit isn't ganna drastically change an unhealthy lifestyle.

Have you ever done pushups? Not exactly the most exciting or rewarding thing out there. WiiFit is just another form of motivation, which is usually the biggest hurdle for people who want to get into shape. Like I said before I'm in great shape but there are still days where I cut my workout short because its boring as hell, WiiFit is something I can do to keep away the monotony. Plus I bet its a hell of a lot cheaper than Yoga lessons.

People go to the gym to jog, it's always boggled my mind when you can just run down the street.

So I don't see why people won't buy wii fit. :P

From the video I saw, it looks completely mundane. If I want toexercise, I'll go for a swim or do some sit-ups or something. If I want to exercise while playing a videogame, I'll play Wii Sports or Dancing Stage. I have no qualms with games being centred around odd peripherals and physical exercise, it's just that Wii Fit looks extremely dull. Nintendo can do much better than this.

Because when its -20 celcius (-30 with the windchill), the snows 2 feet deep and youcen get frostbite in 15-20 minutesgoing outside and jogging is not the best idea.

Is that sarcasm? I sure hope so, the thing is incredibly shallow and gimmicked.

No, its not. Comments by people in SW is exactly why more and more developers are ignoring hardcore gamers because they only want to same thing over and over again and refuse to accept something different.

If it manages to get people into meditation i wouldn't dare complain about this "game".
I am not that excited for it, haven't seen what it's about but i don't think it fits my ssttyyllee. (Thanks for censoring.)
For example when i would do pushups i don't want to do it in a rythm, i want them to vary slow/fast/holding/halfway/small hops/on fists/fingertips/fists together/moving to front and back when low/etc.

Ow, and a lot of people don't go run outside, or don't go to a gym, because they are ashamed.

isn't that good?

Koalakommander

I thought it was in the "Seriously underweight" category. But if that's a good thing, then I'm happy :D

[QUOTE="Nintendo_Man"]Yeah i am, it is going to be awesome and sell alot. Cows and lemmings just have to stop being fanboys and realise that this is going to be great and not just bash it because it is on the Wii. I can see a ton of people being owned in SW.Nintendo_Man

Is that sarcasm? I sure hope so, the thing is incredibly shallow and gimmicked.

No, its not. Comments by people in SW is exactly why more and more developers are ignoring hardcore gamers because they only want to same thing over and over again and refuse to accept something different.

Wait, so developers check system wars every now and again and change their tact based on the comments they see?

Jokes aside, since when did hardcore gamers hate innovation? It's one of the key drivers of the industry and has resulted in many important game staples. Any gamer can see that.

Some developers do actaully. It's a good way to do market research.

Well, maybe some people are excited for it because they lack the necessary number of friends/people they know to gather and play soccer, basketball, etc. Although even if that was true I still wouldn't see anything exciting about it.

[QUOTE="Foolz3h"]People go to the gym to jog, it's always boggled my mind when you can just run down the street.

So I don't see why people won't buy wii fit. :PPBSnipes
Because when its -20 celcius (-30 with the windchill), the snows 2 feet deep and youcen get frostbite in 15-20 minutesgoing outside and jogging is not the best idea.

So wear some clothes?
In extreme conditions I can understand it but otherwise meh.
