If it wasn't for Nintendo, we wouldn't have this amazing game. And that is something I definitely give them credit for. Other than that, we seem to have gotten the run of the mill stuff from Nintendo. Is there anything else they have done? I mean, the whole tablet thing flopped.
Are you for real? Run of the mill? Mario Maker-9; SSBU-9; Mario 3D world-9; NSMBU 8.5; Splatoon-8; Nintendo Land-8; Wonderful 101-8; Mario Kart-8; Monster hunter 3 Ultimate-8; Capt Toad Treasure tracker-8 I don't own one, and many of their games aren't of particular interest to me but if people can shit on Halo 5, Forza 6, for their scores then you need to recognize the amount of high scoring games on the WiiU. Run of the mill, it certainly is not.
Honestly, Bayonetta 2 is only significant to an extreme minority. Wii U's relevance is in games like Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World. Games enjoyed in mass by Nintendo fans as opposed to a niche series enjoyed by a select few.
If I were into watching cartoons on Saturday mornings I might be into those games. I'm not so I'm not. :)
Are there even cartoons on Saturday mornings anymore? Shit like Cartoon network killed the joy of waiting all week to wake up early, get a big bowl of a sugary cereal and watch cartoons until like noon.
Bayonetta 2 was a nice start for Nintendo to try and cater to an older demographic of gamers, but one game isn't enough. The Wii U should have at least 10 more Bayonetta level games at this point in time. I don't mean games that are just like Bayonetta in terms of gameplay, but in terms of having more mature content that appeals to gamers in the 18 - 35 yr range.

Not even Nintendo fans cared about W101. That game is beyond irrelevant.
10 million Wii U's sold and TW101 couldn't even break 500K units.
In terms of novels games for Nintendo consoles, Bayonetta 2 is in the company of Wonderful 101, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Maker, Splatoon and Lego City Undercover, among others.
One thing of significance about Nintendo's hardware itself is that it is the first console to have a tolerable web browser (with which the Gamepad is quite handy). Aside from that, the hardware has not been too revolutionary.

I asked this same question with my boys back the other day? Like what is the saturday morning block these days?

And that breaks my heart. :(
Sure, that argument is dumb, but the paintbrush argument that all Nintendo games are for kids is also as dumb. Are Nintendo games kid friendly? Sure, they are (and that's a good thing, by the way, I would say that having a video game that I can safely give a kid without having to worry about age appropriate content is a great thing). But are Nintendo's games just for kids? No they are not, and that argument might be the most asinine one around.
Fair enough, but if someone so much hints at the idea that they don't play Nintendo games because those games are kiddy, and yeah, **** you I'm using the word kiddy, it's like the cry baby session of all cry baby sessions. I value gameplay, ergo I don't give half a **** about the aesthetic decision, you really need to dig deep into creepo loli shit before I won't give an actual well playing game my time (lucky for me creepy shit never has good gameplay, so I'm off the hook there), but in the same context someone else likes other elements of video games. And Nintendo for better or worse makes kid friendly or cartoony styled franchises. Ergo the word kiddy more or less applies, you choose to let it be seen as a pejorative, it doesn't need to be that.
Regardless of that fact, as much as I can dig Nintendo on their best day, I can also easily see why I'd be more interested or invested in games with aesthetics that are aimed at my demographic more than kids.
Oh and some of the reactions are over dramatic, especially in response to shit like this
Umm, not really, There's nobody around when I'm playing so who would I be trying to impress? Nintendo's games just don't do it for me. It's not just that the themes are ALWAYS incredibly cutesy (Seriously, mix it up a little!), I can deal with that once in a while. But the gameplay is not as OMG as y'all make out.
It wasn't even try hard elitism, you're just sensitive, grow up.
What this has to do with Bayonetta is beyond me, that game is plenty immature in spirit, not in an offensive, very self aware, tongue n cheek sort of way. I usually find it funny that people find that cringe worthy, but will be the same brand low standard scum that gas up those shitty cutscenes made by Blizzard, or gas up a jrpg. Never mind something like God of War.
@jg4xchamp: Did they have an answer? I stand by what I said. The creation of 24 hour cartoon networks seem to have destroyed the things that were so special in our childhoods because they were sparse.

I find that those who share that kind of view tend to be a little insecure about themselves. You'd rather be seen as some edgy metal fan who puts on a facade of toughness than a guy who enjoys games on a down to earth level.
That, or you're just a lazy troll. *shrugs*

I was talking about how you come across on this forum (quoting me to say something so trite). It's perfectly fine to not like something, but looking down on them because they're kiddy seems like insecurity to me.
Nintendo has some other great hits such as Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros for Wii U, Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World, but the notion that the company is losing relevance is starting to show. Heck, it took 3 years for it to outsell the Dreamcast.
They can afford to be Nintendo until 2052, but it just seems pretty dumb to insist on running a decades-long deficit just because you're too proud of your home console. However, I imagine that Nintendo are a much better company than Sega so if they do drop out of the console market, we might just see the next Interceptor Entertainment*. (coughstreetsofragecough)
*to those unaware, the 2013 remake of Rise of the Triad started off as a fan project until the product was officially endorsed by 3D Realms under their Apogee name

Absolutely well said.
So once the new Nintendo console comes out do you guys think there will be a chance that Platinum could port the game over to the XB1/PS4. Because the way I see it Nintendo probably won't care about the game by then. If not then Platinum could add an extra level to the game and call it Bayonetta 2.5 to get past the exclusivity deal. Anyway it's the only game I'm interested in on the Wii U, but I don't want to buy a Wii U for just 1 game.
Nintendo owns the code in Bayonetta 2, so this is not likely to happen.

lol nah, we joked one of these days we need to wake up and sit through what kids be suffering through saturday mornings. But Saturday is my catch up on some sleep day.

The game was published and co-developed by Nintendo. If it weren't for them, the game wouldn't exist and the franchise would still be in limbo. There is no way they will stop caring about an IP they brought back from the dead. Nintendo is veryprotective of their brands.
Wish all you want, but the only way you'll ever play it is on a Nintendo console. And if you are that desperate to play it, you might as well go out and get a Wii U. Because I hear the game is more than worth it. Especially since it also comes with an updated version of the original as well.
Bayonetta 2 is a boring game that only interests sexually frustrated male teenagers, or whatever has the mind of one. So, no. Not even that.
WiiU is the only system worth owning. It is the other side that is run of the mill. In fact the ps3 and xbox360 were and still are better consoles than the ps4/x1. PS4/x1 are the most stripped down, casual centric consoles ever released.
LOL
