Is Bethesda best publisher this gen?

Hello friends,

Well we all love to hate bethesda. but people confuse bethesda as developer and publisher. as developer they are really bad since long time and have not develop any good game before.

but as publisher they are rocking and on roll.

They publish Doom, Doom Eternal and Prey. some of best FPS this gen.

They cancelled old Prey 2 that was far cry in space and give Prey to arkane who create excellent immersive sim.

They cancelled old Doom 4 which was suppose to be call of doom with iron sight and regen health and reboot the series as a result we gotten masterpieces like Doom and Eternal.

They also published Dishonored 1 and 2. while I liked Dishonored 1 alot. didnot liked 2 much but i can appreciate its great level design.

Bethesda are only publisher today who support old school FPS and old school immersive sim.

so friends, is bethesda best publisher this gen? lets discuss.

@ghosts4ever: Games are too samey. Mindless blast em ups....fun for a while but no variation, no originality, no replay value, no innovations.

@uninspiredcup: I wonder what is worse: every day being the same because we live in lockdown or every single Ghosts thread on system wars being the same.

Props to Bethesda for The Evil within 2 and Prey. Two of the most underrated games of the gen.

Shadow Warrior 1 and 2 are great games

Serious Sam 3 BFE is good.

Other good games like Talos principle and Katana Zero. Upcoming games like Carrion look great. (The Thing inspired)

Devolver are one of a kind publishers and are always bringing new ips to the table and exciting ideas. I love their style of embracing games that are gritty, dark humoured and offbeat, they take risks and do not play it safe and I applaud them for that.

I always thought serious sam 3 was terrible. in brown desert bunch of waves just running at you. very boring.

others feel like mobile games. hotline miami is indie mobile game.

Fallout 76 exists. So does Wolfenstein new blood.

That's the thing, Bethesda has both incredible Highs (Doom, Prey, Evil Within) and some really bad lows (Fallout 76, New Blood)

And then some really average releases (Wolfenstein)

I agree that's a valid criticism of SS3 I can accept its not for everyone. The ebb and flow of pushing back the waves running at you is what makes it fun. But....

Hotline Miami is one of the greatest games of the generation. Fresh, innovative, plays well and a killer style and soundtrack. You only like FPS style games though so I don't think you have the experience or taste to fully appreciate it. Nothing wrong with indie games but I hate mobile games.

What brings you to the conclusion that HM is a mobile game? What are you reasons for this?

No that title belongs to MS as they published the Forza games

As a publisher they are fine, as a developer they are gutter trash.

maybe for wolfenstein 2 and rage 2, maybe doom 2016 too, but it's objectively not for dishonored 2 and prey. word on the street is doom eternal brings new stuff to the table too but can't confirm haven't played it yet

also if arkanes death loop turn out to be SP immersive sim and not some coop/MP game. and If ghostwire tokyo turn out interesting. then be in.

Bethesda only major publisher who publish creative SP titles. EA went full MP and think SP gaming is dead and rehashing BF over and over again. Activision rehashing COD only. Ubisoft rehashing same generic open world formula thus rehashing far cry and assassins creed every year yearly.

in comparision bethesda have much variety of all major publisher.

I kinda get your argument but I just can't take it seriously myself because Bethesda has been shitty in many areas this gen.

On top of that they have published games like Spiderman and Bloodborne. This summer they will release TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima.

Sony wins this category imo.
