I certainly find Brawl a button masher. I recently played it and was very dissapointed. Melee and the 1st SS were great games, you actually needed to think where IMO Brawl is a button masher.

Maybe its beacause i played it with the Wii remote (Might be better with GC remote) or that they just lost what made the previous games so... Amazing

Anyways though say your opinion on BRAWL not the other smash games :D

a beginner has no chance against an experienced player if items are turned off

nope i think it is a twitch fighter much like street fighter but does not require such a level of skill as street fighter. button mashers of fighting are tekken and dead or a live. in my opinion.

the grand daddy of all fighters is the virtual fighter series!

It definantly is better with classic remote. Even then though I find it a button masher but not as much as other button mashing games.

its not.. since each person only has about 8 differnt moves, you have to be stupid to not know what attack youre going to do when youre pressing buttons.

You like Melee but you didn't like Brawl?

Eh...

Their practically played the same way. The only way you could be disapointed is if you expected Brawl to play EXACTLY like Melee. In which case you would have been whining that Brawl was to much like Melee.

Brawl is not a button masher. You ca not win a match by mashing buttons. In fact I haven't played a fighting game in my life where you could win by button mashing unless you were playing against someone else who button mashes.

As for Brawl over all quality, I think it's a great game. A tad over rated(naturally), but I really don't think it really deserves half the backlash it's recieving.

If you are button mashing in Brawl you are doing something very wrong.

EDIT: In fact, if you are button mashing, chances are you suck. And you sucking might explain why you hate the game. In fact, people hating on the game because they suck at it would explain a lot.

Define "button masher" please...

Do you mean that you can mindlessly jam on the stick and buttons and be successful?

I don't think so... you would end up running off the stage and killing yourself over and over....

And recovery? fuggedaboutit

Every fighting game is a button masher in the right (or wrong?) hands. I've seen people playing Brawl descend into flagrant abuse of characters over + B and rapid A attacks quite frequently. I've also seen people playing more tactically, using the characters moves more efficiently and effectively.

what i mean is that you play to get close to the oponent then you mash the attack button and special attack in a somewhat random order. It would probably be more fun with a better controler...

yes it is, repeadidly pressing buttons very quickly with little combos (down B...up B)
and a nub can just own with final smash

but how does that make it a bad game?
personally I believe it is the online

It is.

Try it with a Gamecube controller. Anything else does not make a good first impression.

No. Brawl put a bigger emphasis on maneuverability than the conventional fighter which is takes place in a small fighting area.

You need to jump, use recoverey moves, time you distance etc.

Of course not. Button mashing will get you destroyed against anyone who's played the game for any decent length of time.

As with all modern fighting games (and probably all fighting games in general) both the strategy of learning the moves and just mashing buttons can make you a winner. If Brawl was built less around mayhem (more like an actual fighter) and more about strategy I think it would have been a much better game that would have improved upon Melee instead of just remixing it for a second iteration.

People that say the N64 Version of Smash is better then Brawl have no concept of what makes a good fighting game.

How one can like Melee but not like Brawl is just a an example of a paradox.

its a fact, use bowsers shell smash, and kirbys lil rock smash and its instant win every single damn time, I've played the game enough to know its a button masher through and through of course you can sit and learn the moves and do them in perfect order, but when your fighting againest the game and you doing perfect smashes left and right and your defeated by a simple bowser shell move then the game is a button masher.

infact I take that back its not a button masher do the same move every time that being the characters downward or upwards slam move and you will win all teh time.

I believe that was Blackbond who did that who has no official side.

They don't need to, because it already quite obvious you won't progress far with such style of playing.

Yes and no. My connection has an odd habit of expecting a cooldown before it clears out. Ask CJ and Blaze about yesterday: Laggy as hell the first match but cleared up afterwards. It's weird. :/

Kirby is one of my mains. And that Down B move is completely uselesss when your oponent figures you out. You've either been playing with a nub, a Level 5 computer, or someone who keeps pwning you with Kirby.

furthest thing from a button masher possible

JB730

That's like saying a beginner has no chance against an expert if he can't use a rocket launcher....If your so pro make those claims without any "ifs" or "buts"

Yes Brawl is definetly a sort of button masher, you obviously won't become the best player ever but I think to the general user it most definetly is.

If youre a totally noob, new , casual (play 1 hour for fun ) or you havent played a fighting game before , most likely youll found it a button-masher. Probably ALL fighters would be button-masher in this case.

If you have played SSB before , you like it much and play it often , you play it hardcore, you are pro gamer and go to tournaments , you got a general idea how fighters work from other fighting games , you practise with the same character in order to advance your skill etc , then there ISNT such thing as button-masher. Not for SSBM or TEKKEN or ANY fighting game. Its all about ...you!!

SSBB can be a button masher for noobs, but experts like me know how to get around all the spammers
