[QUOTE="12345yon"]yea its true, they wait to release FF something, but GEOW 2 have a moddified version of the unreal engine, that was mod when UT08 come, they wait to a new engine

Why they didnt release Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros, Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Kart Wii, they could have release them on GC right? but they didnt, or are you saying that the wii doesnt have the graphics? obviously they wait the next console because they maaaybe tought that the new console would be better

Zhengi

So you agree that hardcore games take time to make... right? Otherwise, I'm not really getting your argument.

Even if your theory is correct, it doesn't refute the fact that it takes time to make hardcore games. It's been a year since the earliest release in that line up. Are you really expecting the same team to release another game within a year? That doesn't make sense.

obviously it takes time to take harcore games, you dont wanna see another Lair game, im saying that devs wait the best time to release something they consider "hardcore"

are we gonna go around in circles?

the Wii sells almost as much software as the 360 every month, a fact that goes against your idea that people arent using the Wii, and to counter that you show me an article that is opinion-based with the only facts being that Wii sales are phenominal.

im still waiting for your proof, no opinions please...

[QUOTE="shadyd1717"]

[QUOTE="DaBrainz"]Casual has been the way foward since the PS1 days. Nintendo is just making a point of admitting it.DaBrainz

PS2 became popular with GTA3, MGS2, Tekken etc. so you're wrong, they didnt make PSportsgame with no difficulty level so little jimmy can have fun with aunt margaret.

Wrong PS2 built on the success of PS1.

PS1 became popular by having games with CGI cutscenes and diluted gameplay, along side all the shovelware.

And GTA is casual and Tekken is a button masher(except for maybe the real arcade versions).

I'm glad to see some posters know what they are talking about here.

Nintendo and Sony has targetted the casual market for a while now. Sony did with the PS1/PS2, and Nintendo has with their handhelds. It's only now that the Wii is it that it's starting to become main stream. As long as they continue to release games from my favorite franchises though I could care less how big casual games become.

[rant warning]

I think Nintendo will kick off something major. I started off gaming on Mario and Duck Hunt. I don't think theres anything bad about that. There was no Metal Gear back then. As a 5 year old, if the first games I picked up were ultra hardcore, I probably wouldn't even be a gamer today.

All those 5 year old boys eventually grew up and needed more than stuff like Mario and Sonic (although there is nothing wrong with a well done casual game). Luckilly the industry "matured" into what a "mature" 5 year old boy turns into: easily wowed by half naked women and violence. But thats getting very old. Sadly, very few games matured past that point, but really your typical PS1 era gamer doesn't ask for or require anything more than that. Similar to how I grew up on mario and sonic so I don't consider casual games to be bad or a waste of time, the ps1-era gamer grew up on "maturity = violence" and doesn't see anything wrong with all the drivel being released on the PS3/360. I think Nintendo can fix that.

They Sega and NES basically appealed to boys. There were girls games but they were few and far between. With the Wii, its introducing women and broader and older demographic to gaming. In a few years when developers realize that new segment is maturing, maybe we'll actually get titles that are a different type of mature. Half-naked women and over the top violence probably won't appeal to women or older people. When developers start to realize that, maybe they'll actually make mature games that are M for reasons outside of profanity and gore (which is actually pretty immature).

When I started gaming, the industry was like an 8 year old. The appeal of most titles were cartoony characters and bright colors. Around PS1 era i'll say it turned 14 and overall (there are always the rare title that shows real depth and in all honesty is a game that probably wouldn't even appeal to someone under the age of 17) the industry hasn't matured any in in 2 console generations.

its just that "your experience is just that... your experience. dont speak for other people cause you would be wrong" sounds better than "i didnt realize you represent all the casuals and hardcore gamers...."

IMO what Nintendo is doing, catering to only the casual market will run gaming into the ground. If Sony and MS pick up this buisness model next gen than I see PC gaming exploading due to many people who will look for not "hardcore" but games that they loved during the previous eras of gaming. No one in their right mind can call PS2 a hardcore console becouse it had everything why Nintendo is not trying to emulate that success I have no idea.rzepak
how many casual games have nintendo created for the wii? people keep saying nintendo only making casual games, yet they havent provided these casual games, they speak of.

it kinda is honestly and im okay with it for the most part because i really am liking the casual games but i will be angry if they stop making the hardcore games all together
