The Metal Gear Series should NOT continue IMO. MGS4 wrapped things up and delivered a great end to the series. What would MGS5 have? "Snake, somehow a new threat has been unearthed, far more terrifying than Liquid or Solidus... and he's called... TROUSER SNAKE!!!"
Great series are great until they start getting milked. Metal Gear is my favourite series of all time but I think Hideo should move on to something else. In so many interviews he goes on about wanting to move on from MGS and how he has new and innovative ideas for games, so he should make them!
No, MGS is my favourite gaming series ever, its so unique and got one of the best stories ever can't wait to get playing the HD collection.
I hope it never ends even though MGS4 wrapped it up, more MGS would be good for me and i'll never tire of it :)
I mean this Hideo guy keeps hyping up this franchise as if it were the end all be all game of any genre, it is good for what it is but it's not as great as people make it out to be. So is everyone over this franchise yet?

I've been over the franchise since that bait n switch crap he pulled in MGS2.
Not in the least sick of it, but I do wish he would move on, or at the least, give it a break for some time. Thing is, mgs is like his kid; It's hard to just leave it, and couple that with the demanding fans...It'll be around for some time. With these interviews about the topic of him leaving the series to his co-workers, and even in the making of mgs4 dvd, he wants to move on, but its not quite ready to be fully handled by his staff.
I don't blame him for not moving on. I do wish he would get a good editor for his writing to cut the fat out of his stories though. He(or his staff) doesn't hype his series to be this great, untouchable thing either...His fans do.

He could make another pre-quel like MGS3 or Peace Walker, it doesn't has to be a direct sequel to MGS4. Big Boss has another clone beside Solid Snake and Liquid called Solidus Snake, the adoptive father of Raiden.
I am always excited when I hear news about MGS so no, the series is fantastic and I don't mind more.
on the other hand I'd love to see Kojima create another unisverse as good as MGS and become another series that I'd love to play.
so if Kojima could work on two projects, one being MGS and another is a totally new game simultaneously that would be awesome.
MGS4 died with mgs4, future games in the franchise are not consider METAL GEAR SOLID GAMES for me.Solid_TangoSure it died with MGS4 then it was revived with Peace Walker. MGS3>Peace Walker> MGS1>MGS2>MGS4=Portable Ops. Back on topic I wouldn't mind seeing a few more titles as long as they aren't like MGS4 featuringthe Boss, Big Boss and Solid's early days with Fox Hound.
I don't really know at this point. IF they make another MGS, I want another MGS3. I really don't want another MGS4. The story got waaay of the rails and the cut scenes were way too long in 4.
The most over-rated series in the history of gaming. I hate the camera (granted they fixed it in MGS4 (BUT SINCE THAT WAS THE WORST GAME IN THE SERIES THAT MEANS NOTHING).
The story is stupid and so are the characters aside from snake himself.
The whole smoking thing is retarded. Smoking has never been cool and is stupid in itself. Why do Japanese devs try and make it look cool?
The combat was always meh! I understand the game is meant to be stealth based but snake is the biggest wimp I ever met. How can I think he is cool if he gets beat up so easy.
The handheld games are not even average.
The whole series as a whole is crap. But like Nintendo fanboys.......A Kojima fanboy can't see the flaws in the game. I remember a quote from Kojima when he said "I am very impressed with Splinter Cell. They do things like the optical cable (looking under doors), where we have tried that for years and could not make it work. I really think they have made the perfect stealth game" Even when he says someone came in and schooled him, the fanboys will still bring up story or characters or something else to try and convince you or themselves that it is actually a good game. It isn't a bad game. It is just over-rated.
I'd rather have another Zone of the Enders title, 2 was such a great game and improvement of ZoE 1, which i found boring. To stay on topic, no I'm not tired of MGS, they can make as many as they want, If the game interest me I'll play it if not then oh well, I've got plenty of other games to play.
MGS is a great franchies and there aren't that many stealth games out there so no I'm not tierd but really hope that MGS5 is Snakes last game were we play as him
No I'm not tired of MGS and I never understand why ppl not interested in a franchise has to create/discuss about it instead of focusing on games they like
The games are spectacular. I didn't love MGS4 because the story was a mess but the first three were fantastic! So I'm not tired of the franchise, I just want to see less MGS4 and more MGS2 or MGS3 in the next game.
As many other people have said, the (correction, it's not MGS, but MG) Metal Gear franchise has been one of my all-time favorite game franchises, but Rising looks to strip the franchise of its core gameplay, replacing it with hack n' slash combat and more action than stealth. So, if this direction somehow proceeds smoothly, it'll kill anymore chances of seeing hardcore stealth gameplay in this franchise or even in many other games.
Splinter Cell titles have been great in the past, but now have dumbed down gameplay that will only appeal to the most "casual stealth" fans out there. And let's be hones with ourselves. Not many people like stealth, which is a nice genre, so it's kind of an oxymoron to state that there is such an audience out there. If anything, it's all about the combat rather than the stealth.
Ubisoft must admit that it was way more interested in showing off how fast-paced and way more action-oriented Conviction was than primarily about the stealth gameplay itself. Likewise, Kojima Productions demonstrated MGSR with its damage system rather than its stealth. This is NOT looking good for the stealth genre at all.
Yeah Im done with MGS, I was planning on revisiting the earlier games in the upcoming collection but the lack of Snake Vs Monkey mode has rubbed me the wrong way. I am ready to move on to Kojima's next masterpiece franchise, I just hope he is too.
I would like to voice my opinion in this thread again, first of there is no denying that the MGS series is considered one of the best in gaming, also when MGS was first released on PS it was a major hit and Kojima stated in one of the interviews that there was no intentions on making another game but the series continued.
The story was surrounding Solid Snake and an organization called " The patriots " as we drove in deeper we started to get hints as to know who this organization is first with MGS3 and with Portable Ops and finally in MGS4 everything was unraveled and all the questions have been answered.
The question is where dos the series go from there ? the story of the MGS universe is revealed, the shocking moments while playing MGS2 were explained in MGS4.
If Konami are to continue the series I guess going back to the early days of Solid Snake/ Big Boss or a new MGS with new characters and events.
I don't think people want to sit through all those ridiculous cut scenes.Miketheman83
5 million people disagree.
I wouldn't say tired, just when I thought that MGS4 was the last of the series they released Peace Walker and the upcoming Rising which led me to believe that MGS4 was the last the game of the chronological order. Thus, there would be other Metal Gear games that takes place in somewhere between the other games(similar to that would be the God of War series). In this case ,it somewhat frustrates me.
I don't see how anyone could be more tired of Metal Gear than any other multi decade old game franchise.vashkeyIt's the same thing to me, just in different locals. Plus I'm ready to see what else Kojima can do. He's so immersed in MG that I'm starting to doubt he can do anything else.
I would like for the story to end and for Kojima to move on to a new IP, but I am not tired of MGS. I just changed my Amazon pre-order for the HD Collection to the Limited Edition HD Colleciton. I'll also be getting a $5 pre-order bonus off the pre-order of Rising.
I want more MGS but I also dont want the story to get dragged on. I dont know how that can work though.

no, its still one of the best franchises out there, innovating with every game that came out.
