Is Far Cry 2 a flop?

I never checked any reviews, or sales. I bought it at launch, and played for a few days. Then switched to all the other games that released around it.

But, for the last few days, I've been playing it a ton. I really like.

I like Far Cry 2. I haven't played much of it, because Fallout 3, and Fable 2 have been taking up most of my time, but I'll be playing a lot of it soon.

The map editor is a blast to mess around with.

Far Cry2 may probably be the most hated game since runescape and before that: I think that a lot of people like me hate it because we bought it because of hype and the good scores it got. then yu fnd out your playing a repetitive and bad shooter ( well actually its more of a driving games since 96.5% of the time your playing your in a car thats excruciatingly slow and old, Far cry 2 has got the worst looking 3d cars ever.)

One of the the best games of 2008 IMO.

The open ended gameplay is second to none.

I dont know sales-wise but for me the game was a huge flop.

The gameplay was aweful and it had very VERY repetetive missions which where boring. Tried to force myself into playing it but the Good sound and lighting wasnt enough to keep me from trading it in. Btw FC2 was the first game this gen that ive traded. Absolutely horrible.

I dont recommend this game for anyone.

EDIT: The bad AI (that was hyped) and very poor driving mechanics ruined the open world.

Absolutely true.

The only thing this game lived up to was the visuals, everything else was absolutely awful. I can't believe this game got reviews over a 9 even an 8. Assassins Creed was crucified for repetitive play(Not on GS) how come this wasn't?mmirza23

With regards to the visuals, people where wondering is it would be Crysis (not Warhead).

It didn't but the worst was the respawning.

Great sales but the bad reviews and bad user comments have now astarted to take effect.markop2003

I had fun with it, haven't completely beaten it yet but it was alright, not worth paying full price like I did but you could certainly do alot worse in today's lineup of games. It can get rather boring and I've nodded off a few times while driving around the map (though when I do its late at night like 3 am ish and I've been up since like 11 am the day prior) and the respawning enemies and constant partols get old fast. However its good to pick up and play every now and then, but I certainly couldn't spend a long play session with it.

What I truly hate about it though, is the online play, which once again (for some reason developers find this to be an awesome idea) you get rewarded with better weapons the more you play online and build your rank. So if you are just trying to build some rank, don't expect to do it fast since the game has a terrible respawn system, which will drop you right next to the other team, all with fully upgraded weapons. Or you'll spawn in, run 10 yards and get blown up by someone with the fully upgraded grenade launcher who can sit in one spot in some maps and just fire off at random killing all kinds of people without even trying.

So all in all, the game is flawed but enjoyable, I just wish I waited about 2 weeks and got it nearly half price during the holidays.
