Is Forza the best racing franchise in history?

It's definitely up there. The ATV offroad games are hard to beat though if we are speaking about pure fun, and that goes for both the single and multi player modes. Forza is not a 1st day buy for me, but I usually wind up with the games within a few weeks. However, if they released a new Offroad? 1st day midnight release... no question. Same goes for Mario Kart, but that doesn't count for this thread, so yeah.

Forza may be an awesome series, however to me, it isn't the best racing franchise. To me, that would go to Burnout, Mario kart (yes, it's a racer TC), and Motorstorm. However I'm not knocking Forza's success.

The game has weapons and powerups, so it can't be considered a pure racing game, it's split into 2 different genres.

I get it, it's you're favourite "racing" series, but you know for a fact that the MK games rely heavily on vehicular combat to beat your opponents to the finish line. But if we're going to let that slide then we can add the GTA series as a viable option because it has racing in it to even though it's split into many genres also.

As the OP already said that he's talking about more pure racing games, and we all know MK doesn't fit that bill. Games like Forza, Dirt, Grid, F1 etc are pure racing games.

I get it you're upset, maybe you should start your own thread and you can put any rules you like, have a nice day :)

Trust me, not mad, just amused to see how some people is so desperate trying to "claim" something while hiding from other games because they know Forza would most likely lose against both GT and MK...but oh well, just saying :)

You could turn off the items in Mario Kart in the menu and just race.

Since last gen, not the last couple of gens.

Foza motorsport came out in 2005 on the Og Xbox

@madsnakehhh: Well GT is Forza's console rival, but it's been on the decline for the past few games, but who knows they might find form when GT Sport releases. In my opinion Mario Kart can't hold a candle to the Forza series for pure racing, if vehicular combat is your thing then sure it beats Forza easily since it doesn't have that.

@GameboyTroy: You can, but the game loses it's shine. Mario Kart without powerups is just a run of the mill racing game, because their a big part of the game.

In my opinion yes, but it's factualy, and by far, the most polished and consistent franchise.
