Honest guys, these guys have got to be the slowest reviewers in the business. Anyone have a valid reason as to why they take so long to review games? Furthermore, there reviews consists of a singlepage and at most two. I just don't get it.

Easy, they wait until alllll the reviews are in, then take the average score, knock 1.5 points off of it and post it as theres. Then they throw in a couple praises and an abundance of negatives and BAM. You've got your GS review.
Either that, or they're just incredibly thorough with their reviews due to GS policy.
They aren't. Maybe they were just more excited and/or preferred to play through and then review other titles than the one you are probably referring to them as being slow for not having reviewed yet. Plus, why would they emphasize that review as a priority since all the fans for that console were supposedly leaving or hated GS reviews anyway, when you have a rush of holiday titles to review during the week, which include a couple blockbuster titles that come out a few days before Uncharted and there is no way of knowing if they were sent a press copy of the game beforehand.
If they were sent a press copy beforehand then the reviewer probably had to prioritize according to release dates of games they were reviewing and if the same reviewer had to review either Crysis, SMG, or Assassins Creed and then this game, I know I would be reviewing/playing through Uncharted afterany of those titles.

wow u summarize that great
gamespot is slow because they take their time. They are the best reviewers in the industry because of it. Earlier reviews tend to be more glowing, probably because they rush the review and give it the benefit of the doubt and are maybe guilty of giving in to the hype a bit. ie twilight princess.
There are some cases where the gs review is higher than on other sites

LMAO
Where the heck is the uncharted review? I just think they procrastinate until the very end and are late most of the time with there reviews. Very unprofessional!neversummer75
Uncharted is coming? I'll tell you right away, it's AA. Just look at the game's trailers. Not that great, but not that bad.
Their reviews come out latter because they have some of the strictest policies for reviewing games in the business
Many, many review sites will work with *unfinished* copies of games, which GS will not do. They review the *retail copy* that you will play when you buy the game, to ensure they're giving you an accurate picture of any issues that may exist, or content you might enjoy.
Gamespot is also *very big* on finishing games before reviewing them. You need only look at their Assassin's Creed review versus sites like IGN (read Penny-Arcade's comments on the issue first) to understand what happened. You can see the sites that didn't finish AC before reviewing it - the sites that rushed, and didn't take their time. They're the sites that scored it low.
As games get more "content filled" more "sandbox" and more "online MMO, explorative, co-op, multiplayer" it will take *longer* to give these types of games a fair review. They're not something you can sit down and play for eight hours straight, beat, and give an honest opinion on. And that's okay, I -want- the reviewer to take their time.
The only people who want reviews out weeks before a game comes out are foaming-at-the-mouth review-score junkie fanboys. For everyone else, patience is a virtue - I'd rather wait a week after a game comes out, get a variety of trusted reviews (read them), talk to people who are playing the game, et cetera, if it is a game I am uncertain about.subrosian
Wrong...people that want reviews before the game come out are people that don't want to waist good money on a game that isn't good. I for one have a lifedon't spend all my money on video games. I have a strict budget on what I spend on video games every year and will only buy games that deserve it. I depend on video game reviews as an indicator if a game is worth my hard earned money or not. Geta clue buddy!

I have more respect for GS than most reviewers out there because they actually take their time to complete the retail version of the game and experience everything it has to offer before posting their score.
That Penny Arcade article about Assasin's Creed really got me thinking about how reviewers tackle games.

Everyone hating on it, why dont you just leave? Do us all a favorSnowboarder99
I don't even own a PS3 and will not be buying the game. I just have an issue with Gamespot taking so long to review games. Plus I was getting on that other guys case because he was saying how good the game was going to be just based on the trailers of the game. Now thats just lame.

Yeah, that is lame. But Id rather have a review come later that is more thorough in their review then one that hasnt even played the whole game and everything there is to offer

Read much, or any of what I wrote? If you're on such a strict budget then I'd suggest you learn the virtue of patience. There's no value in a rushed review of some "pre-release" beta copy of a game. Gamespot offers you a complete review, based on having spent a great deal of time with the title. That's worth more to you than review sites *cough* IGN *cough* that give out great scores to mediocre games, or bash games they've only played for a few hours.
Easy, they wait until alllll the reviews are in, then take the average score, knock 1.5 points off of it and post it as theres.
