Is Gears of War Good Enough to Be Microsoft's Leading Exclusive Franchise?

Im sure this topic is not very original, but im just curious. Obviously 343 is whipping up a halo title one day, but other wise Microsoft has got Forza, Gears, and Fable. Imgonna make a safe and logical guess that of those, Gears is the leading franchise Microsoft has to its own.

With Gears 3 coming, and since u guys have played the beta, thats where my question lies. All in all Gears in the leading Microsoft exclusive franchise now but is that an insult, reason for xbox users to worry, or is it plainly just fine? For the most part, this question may come down to the question of whether or not u like Gears at all, but even for a person like me who liked the beta quite a bit I just dont see Gears as beinga franchise worth buying an xbox for like mass effect or halo were.

No. It has balance issues, the design isn't as good as Halo's is, and Epic isn't nearly as good as listening to their community as Bungie is.

Only reason I have a 360 is cuz of Gears.Next gen im getting a ps4 unless m$ can bring something else as epic as Gears.

It depends how the next Halo turns out, but it definitely has the potential to be. I think Gears 3 is going to be a huge hit critically and commercially.

I doubt it. Doesn't Microsoft have a deal with Epic for the first three games? If they do I'd be willing to bet Gears 4 will be multiplat.

No. Halo, for all the **** it gets is, whereas Gears is most certainly not.

M$ needs to bring more to the table than just halo and gears.Ill tell u one thing,i was so dissapointed when i found out that codename kingdoms is a kinect game.

if halo didnt carry over to the 360 then probably, but if halo WASNT on the 360 then it would be worse tbh

imho gears doesnt have enough to be the all around flagship game for the 360....i said the same about killzone on ps3 a few years back

I used to love Gears, but I don't think one big exclusive is enough. Plus, Gears is starting to feel stale. I went to replay Gears after playing Vanquish, and now Gears feels slow and clunky, and boring in comparison. I'll still get Gears 3, but it feels outdated now. It needs a makeover. I got my 360 for Gears and Mass Effect mainly, and now that ME is on Ps3, I definitely think a PS3 is enough for my console needs.Deathtransit

No. Unless Epic can get their act together and build the community team that Bungie has, they'll never get anywhere past engine makers. That's the one thing I love about Bungie, and that's that they listen to the community, to the people that give them their jobs. Something other companies could definitely benefit from.

Honnestly, who has a ps3 and a 360 and played longer a sony exclusive over gears... I played more of gears 1 and 2 than killzone and uncharted series combined. Of course Gears is the main Franchise with halo for microsoft.

Just played the Gears 3 Beta. Fun as hell IMO. Though I'm pretty rust. :lol:

It'sa possibility that Gears could take over Halo's role.

it is physically good enough even though Epic is pretty bad at managing the community and changes to the games after each installment. they don't like to listen to the fanbase at all and regard gears of war 1's multiplayer as an accident (that they seem to regret) despite the fact that most fans would consider it to have the best gameplay.

Actually, at this point I'd say that Uncharted and God of War are probably a bigger, too. I love Gears of War, but it doesn't get nearly as much love as those games do. MrSelf-Destruct

that could be said for almost any leading franchise or high quality game, especially this year so that really isn't anything special. As a matter of fact having nearly no flaws in gameplay and graphics is a bare minimum before "I" will even consider any game to be high quality. (therefore many games rater AAA qaulity here and other places are only AA, A or lower for me)

Needless to say not many games have met my standards for high quality this gen, but gears or any other games meeting that bar doesn't mean they are special it just means they are proforming like they should, only after they meet this bar can the gameplay and mechanics prove them self to be AAA quality, but maybe that's just my opinion

Well Microsoft right now has the best Racer-Forza AAA every time FPS- Halo AAA every time TPS- Gears AAA every time As far as exclusives Microsoft has the best in the most major genres.rybe1025

most consistant track record, but that's doesn't make them the best. I can use very simple logic to make my point, but I don't want to rub your opinion the wrong way.

let's just say there's more to being "the best" game then receing AAA scores.
