Is Gears of War Good Enough to Be Microsoft's Leading Exclusive Franchise?

Well Microsoft right now has the best Racer-Forza AAA every time FPS- Halo AAA every time TPS- Gears AAA every time As far as exclusives Microsoft has the best in the most major genres.rybe1025

Halo with 5 AAA's in a row - Forza with 3 AAA's in a row - and if ( I gotta say, it's a very tinyif :P ) Gears 3 scores AAA then MS with 360 has the only AAA franchise FPS, TPS & Racer on the market. :shock: :P

Other than RPG's / Action Adventures, ( EDIT: I should add.. Fable is a pretty good Action Advfranchise as well, all scoing AA ) that covers my favorite genres and I dare say, most other gamers as well. :D

that could be said for almost any leading franchise or high quality game, especially this year so that really isn't anything special. As a matter of fact having nearly no flaws in gameplay and graphics is a bare minimum before "I" will even consider any game to be high quality. (therefore many games rater AAA qaulity here and other places are only AA, A or lower for me)

Needless to say not many games have met my standards for high quality this gen, but gears or any other games meeting that bar doesn't mean they are special it just means they are proforming like they should, only after they meet this bar can the gameplay and mechanics prove them self to be AAA quality, but maybe that's just my opinion

My point is that i believe Gears will surpass Halo as the leading franchise for 360 just like Uncharted series are surpassing GoW on PS3. They became more popular, got better scores and will probably sell more.

OMG this leads to gears vs halo. a lot of gamers bought 360s siting one of them as the reasont to own one.

subjective. its certainly second major franchise and its over due a new installment. how well will gears 3 sell is

another question. they pissed off alot of gamers with gears 2, lag, glitches, region locks etc. i know alot of gear

players who have adopted a wait and see approach. having played the Beta id say its solid but i doubt we'll see

halo reach figures.

Hmm not really IMO. Not when you compare it to the sales of giants such as Mario, Halo, and so on. If Gears is all they are going to have next gen then you can count me out :P. Not a fan, but I do miss playing Halo.

Microsoft owns Halo and controls everything about the franchise. They don't own Gears though.

Um no Microsoft Owns Halo. the game was developed for Microsoft. so even if bungie made the first one, M$ can pass it on to a next studio like 343 studios because they own it. hence why 343 studios is working on the Halo HD remake.

Gears is the only 360 exclusive that is worth buying the system for. I'm a PS3/PC gamer...but I sure wish I had access to Gears.

I dont know how people like this game. Gears 2 is dead in online ( have yet to get into an online match ) and Gears 3 has one annoying feature where everyone end up in Last Stand and dont actually fully die once you use the whole clip on them... am i the only one who ends up having more downs than actual kills?.. The game is average at best even graphics arent mind blowing

Gears is the only 360 exclusive that is worth buying the system for. I'm a PS3/PC gamer...but I sure wish I had access to Gears.

Your not missing anything, i picked up a 360 myself 2 days ago and Gears is my very first game. its nothing special.. if only i can find Tales of Vesperia now thats a game i would love to play

Halo will always be Microsoft's leading franchise, much like Mario is Nintendo's. Whilst Sony has had particular 'mascots' throughout its years in gaming, it doesn't really have a flagship franchise.

Compared to Halo, yes for the people who don't like the gameplay of halo compared to other shooters. Halo Reach though has made great improvements in areas of an FPS that makes it more of a exciting experience, but stepped back with some game design issues like armor lock. I played the Gears 3 beta for some hours and it was fun. Definitely one of the most intense games you'll play on the Xbox 360. I don't know if the final product will be enough to put it at the top. I mean it's not like it really has a ton of competition (Halo, Forza, ???)

Both games are great, series is by far my favorite shooting series of all time. Is it good enough to be Microsoft's leading exclusive franchise? Why the hell not? Sales indicate yes, reviews indicated yes and the only people who think otherwise are people who simply dislike the series, which are a very vocal minority. Those who haven't played it or have but only for a couple minutes (because they don't own a 360 or didn't buy the game) can't really say anything bad about it because they haven't gaven it a chance. I disliked the MP until I became decent at it and the campaigns in both games are great.

If it's not your cup of tea that's fine but if you want to look at the sales and reviews they both indicate it can be Microsoft's leading exclusive franchise. Gears of war 2 STILL has a active multiplayer community, and you can STILL find people to play with in Gears of War 1. The gears 3 beta has been huge, the pre-orders are breaking records.
