@storm_of_swords: " How can a movie be the game of the generation? "
Games today are judged more on story/character regardless of gameplay.
I doubt GOW is as bad as the Witcher 3. I wager its better.
All BS aside Pedro, you really need to play it.
If you like gameplay then you'll love GOD of War, I loved Horizon Zero Dawn because of it's fantastic game play mechanics...I can tell you now that God of War's gameplay is even better.
But if you don't like games that require skill then it may not be the game for you. I'm playing one level below God of War difficulty and I've been REKT more than a few times but the gameplay is so fun I just smile and think to myself, damn I gotta GET GUD.
Geeesh, you started off good with the recommendation but crashed and burn with the later. I will be playing sometime next week. Finishing Far Cry 5 first.
@Pedro: Whats your fav game of the gen so far?
I have games that I enjoyed no favorite. Favorite game seems rather juvenile to say the least.
There might be several others that I am missing.

Maybe you should stop watching it on Youtube and actually play the game instead of sounding like an idiot.

I heard the first few hours fit the movie game formula.
Nah, you heard wrong. You need to play the game instead of making an embarrassment of yourself on this forum.
Anyone that calls this a movie game is just dumb as hell. There's plenty of gameplay and strategy in it and the game can be brutally difficult on harder settings. The cinematics are only there to illicit and emotional response but they do not get in the way of the solid gameplay at all.

I would go with Juub's take on the game over yours anyday. If you were not such a corporate shill, your words would have had more meaning.

^ ^ Proceeds to say this with his head still stuck of Phil Spencer's butt. The irony lol.

Speak louder, I can barely hear you over your echos from inside Phil's butt.

Still talking about your secret love I see. LOL. You keep proving me right everyday. Aren't you tired of losing?

I don't know what kind of sick fetish you have but you're gonna have to come out for a breather at some point. I just can't hear you over the muffles and echoes ?

Says I have a sick fetish but keeps fantasizing about someones head in someone's butt. LMAO.

I'm just making an observation. It's getting really hard to hear you right now, I'm really straining my ears lol.

LOL. "I am going to play GOW." But still here arguing with me because I got you all riled up. LMAO. Run and hide now because you successfully made a fool of yourself.

LOL. Sunset was one of the lamest games I've ever played, but i'm not surprised you love it. Goes to show how much you love MS. Sunset overdrive... LOLLLLL
We finally get a thread about a game that ISN'T God of War, and that gets locked because of the whole blog thing. Yet, here we have another GoW thread.

I was thinking the same thing. If it is a game the mods do not like you cannot have more than one post about it, but if it is God of War it can take up the entire site. The hypocrisy of this place is unreal...
I love God of War as well, (gets sooo much better the deeper in you get) but you would think they would show a bit of consistency with this dying forum in hopes of keeping the last few of us they have left.
This generation has yet to end and it is too premature to proclaim God of War as the current game of the generation. Wait! There may be a contender soon or in the next few years.

Really I'm in several hours and it isn't getting any better yet. Still hate that tiny cursor, it just plain sucks.

Yet Sony fans are hyped for the next Insomniac open world game.

No thanks. I've played through other similar movie games like Uncharted and The Last of Us in the past because they were so critically acclaimed that I felt that I had to "play" (and I use this term loosely) them even though they bored and frustrated me when I could have instead been playing games with actual fun gameplay. I'm much happier since I decided that I didn't want to waste my time on movie games like that anymore no matter how critically acclaimed they are and I don't plan to go back.
But of course, I'm sure that you don't consider games like Uncharted and The Last of Us to be movie games either and if you don't consider those games to be movie games even though I know from experience that they are then I can't trust your opinion about God of War not being a movie game.

I'm probably about half way through now. It is very much a Gears of War game with improved graphics and a better story. The level design and corridor style levels feel GeOW to me though. Not really a comparison I wanted to make. (GOW is the better game obviously).
@storm_of_swords: GoW plays nothing like either of those games. And wtf are you watching a game on YouTube that you have no interest in, don't you have shit to do irl? No life.
@Pedro: Thanks for taking the time to make that list. Some deep cuts in there. Never heard of Nex Mechanima, think I'm gonna give it a go after GoW.
BOTW and Odyssey still outscored it
Try looking at user scores on MC vs review scores on MC......

If you liked Tomb Raider then you'd probably like the new God Of War since it's a much bigger and better version of that with a better world, combat, level design, pacing, and story. Which makes sense given that the director of God Of War was behind the 2013 reboot.

Your loss. You're selling yourself short by "playing" games on Youtube.

Nah, looking at user reviews is possible the worst way to gauge how good a game is. to many 1/10 or 10/10s
@boycie: There are user reviews in Metacritic that either give a game 0 or 10 for the simple intent of upping or downing the score, which defeats the purpose of a genuine aggregate. :P
It's a totally flawed metric.
Well, it's combat is clearly some of the best this gen (not as good as Bloodborne, but close) so it wins against TW3 on that front.

Its on my list of games to play but I have to finish the ones I am currently playing first. I just have to mentally prepare myself for the first section of the game.
@swaggedoutsquirtle: been playing Bloodborne again... I stopped maybe 30 hours in. I just got through the forbidden woods and nearly killed the thee ghosts of A.... God damn this game is so good... Definitely the best playstation exclusive game I've played this generation. Hoping GoW will be great too. I'm so afraid its gameplay won't hold up, but so far the day 1 folks are really happy.
@geraltofwar: I like Witcher. I dumped 60 hours into it before drifting away from it. I had a few nagging issues with it, but nothing that undercut its genius presentation and thoughtful approach to telling a mature narrative fit for a video game.
I just didn't like that after 60 hours I was spending half my time in menu management and half my time following a line to a quest. I got tired of the gameplay loop to be honest. Its not even a slight to the game. I just know when it's time to do something else and it was time.
I looked at the Witcher as a game that I fell out of sync with and kept the book open to pick up on another day I felt fresh for it. It's the same approach I took after putting 60 hours into Skyrim. Got bored... Played it on switch years later and couldn't get enough of it.

Yeah, you keep telling yourself that bud. Maybe one day you'll actually believe it.

No need to tell myself anything, countless 10/10 scores and 95 MC show that myself and the majority of gaming community consider it a very good and challenging game. ? You’re the dumbass trying to convince himself that a great game he’s never played is a “movie game” because he watched a playthrough on YouTube.
@quadknight: No point in responding to nya's nonsense.
? Damn, that’s another Nya alt?! Thanks for the warning lol. I’ll avoid the clown.
@TheEroica: Ya GOW combat can become repetitive if I’m being honest but like any game you just need a break than jump into it again. I haven’t been playing the main story just exploring and doing favors. I don’t think you will be disappointed if you pick it up.

I never said that I watched it on YouTube and I don't know where you and that other poster got that idea from. I have absolutely no interest in watching this or any other video game on YouTube or anywhere else. I don't want to watch games, I want to play games and that's one of the problems that I have with these movie "games".
