Is Halo still considered a "heavy weight" FPS franchise?

Halo is huge and probably always will be unless 5 is garbage. Doom is close to being as big as Halo but not sure if you guys consider it sci-fi , its on Mars but you fight demons from hell

I would say Mass Effect, WOW, Star Craft, Diablo all are bigger and in my opinion offer better cannon than Halo.

Aim down sights and sprinting are not controversial at all. This will be the third Halo game to have sprinting. Aim down sights is exactly the same as aim down scope. They have literally just added an animation. Why did they do it? I dunno, to appease COD babies probably, but it does not affect the mechanics of the game in any way whatsoever.

Not even close, Mass Effect ruined their canon with the Star Child circular BS logic, also the books are terrible.

Diablo 3 ruined their own lore when they killed off Cain, Star Craft and Wow have a good lore but Wow's books have been bad to decent, War Crimes was a terrible novel and was just used to lead into Warlords of Draenor;.

Starcraft, Diablo and Wow all follow a similar formula, giant evil entity is the biggest threat to the universe, Amon in Starcraft, Sargeras and the Old Gods in Wow, and Diablo and now Malthael

Starcraft 2 is now trying to make us think that Kerrigan is a good guy, despite the fact that she's killed millions of people, was freed from the zerg, voluntary went back to the zerg, killed millions of more people just to rescue her ex boyfriend and settle a grudge with someone. GG Blizzard.

Halo has had some stinkers in it's lore like Grasslands, but The Forerunner Trilogy, Cryptum, Primordium and Silentium are pretty much better than anything Mass Effect or Blizzard has to offer in terms of lore and story telling.

Mass Effect and Star Craft are definitely not bigger then Halo. The last Halo game sold like 10 million copies, StarCraft and Mass Effect reached like half of that.

They added it because I imagine it's a lot more satisfying to see your gun actually shoot instead of the gunless scope view before.

Sales wise, of course. Gonna move a good load of copies.

CoD games sell more - but, they are multiplat (Halo sells better than CoD on XBox platforms). As far as their respective "Universes", there is no question - Halo is far bigger: 8 games, over a dozen novels, 2 live action mini-series, 1 feature length anime, and an upcoming TV show produced by Stephen Speilberg, vs a universe that is comprised solely of video games.

Really? I thought H4 was, at least, as good as the others... They tweaked a few things that really worked I think. IMO anyway.

It's still a BIG franchise just like Mario and Uncharted. It will still sell 8-10 million copies over it's lifetime. Halo:MCC will sell over 8 million copies eventually as well.
