Is HALO the most popular game in the Universe?

Halo isn't popular in Japan. How is that a global scale? Even the sales of Halo don't top other game franchises like GTA, Mario, Pokemon, GT, etc.

Don't be sorry I'm not actually bothered, but I've never known a Zelda game cause as much mainstream hype as Halo. Or any other game for that matter, ever.

Probably not the most popular game/franchise.

However, with only three games Halo has definitely been pushed into the collective cultural mind of many, many countries.

Is it due to Halo being a good game, though? Absolutely not. I guarantee that if you had the advertising budget that Microsoft sunk into Halo you could make a game about squirrels digging water wells into a cultural movement.
