You're going to see the same change in clarity either way. If your question is whether or not HD makes a significant difference, the answer is yes, if you're asking whether or not it's worth the investment, I'd say that if you have the consoles and you have the means, by all means, go out and get an HDTV.
There's a big difference, those who say there is no difference have never played on an HDTV. jd7-03Theres not that big of a differnece... and I play gears on 106" screen in 720p with 5.1 surround sound... It's not like with video games you get the snow or ghosts you get with TV... it's better.. but.. it's not nearly the difference people around here scream it is...

I went from an SDTV to an HDTV with my 360, and yes there is a large large difference. Don't know how else I can prove it.
well i think after playing for two hours on either, you wont care even if it is a big tv or a small tv. You get so dragged in that u forget bout graphics.....but when u do notice, it shows...for example i bought my hdtv bought 4 months ago and i was playing all my 360 games but they were not the best looking, but then i just bought Rainbow six vegas and WOW just WOW....i think it depends on teh game too..
I've been playing along this gen on an SDTV, it looks really great tho' there is always something better, HD... yeah HD, it sounds nice but is it really the big deal? I would like a FAIR comparison to see if it really worth the money, cuz I won't be able to buy an HDTV in my current situation, can u guys find a fair comparison?, I wanna know cuz I'm bound to start saving for one if the difference is that big...-KinGz-

when you see the true HD..you cant go back to standard anymore but most of that crap they show you in the stores like best buy and stuff arnt actual HD. they are using HDTV's but most of them dont have the HD cables showing you how clearly its supposed to be. anyways, HD makes a big difference and looks really amazing. you'll notice more crisp and clearer picture.
Well I'll post some HD pics. Here's the first one, its a picture from LOST, episode a few weeks back, I'm standing 5 feet away from my 37" LCD TV, this looks amazing to me, sitting back a bit further is even better (need to be there to really see it). Factor in the pq along with 5.1 surround sound, and yea HDTV kicks the crap out of standard def.

I've got an HD Tv, but not botherd to hook anything too nice up to it yet... it's really new. I think if you can do it go ahead, but if you can't do HD, it's not the end of the world...
Â
Actually the smaller the screen size the better games look IMO... perhaps that was just with SD though. Â
HD....it owns!

You know part of the reason it looks so nice is becase of the unnatural contrast ratio you provide by turning off all outside light sources...

Hight Contrast Ratios == Greatness. Â

Actually I have the lights on in my basement, mostly the camera settings. Do you want me to shine a spot light on it? It looks very very good with the lights on, and guess what, they are![QUOTE="GundamGuy0"][QUOTE="jd7-03"]HD....it owns!

No you don't have to do that. We get the picture. Do you have a SD signal comparasion? i'd like to know what my HDTV can do alos... (I Wish school was out and I was at home so I could mess with it)

I'll try to take some in a few minutes, think I have an episode recorded on VHS somewhere. It's a big diffirence, but it's still overratde. and it will remain that way until HD TV's cost as much as an SDTV. HD is nice, but it's simply not worth the price.goblaaExactly.
Games were fun before HD. and a good movie is still a good movie, regardless whether it's on VHS, DVD, or Blu-Ray. Better resolution can't save a movie from a horrible plot and bad acting, just as HD can't make a game with redundant gameplay and little to no plot worth playing.
I care more about 16:9 than I do about the HD resolutions themselves.Quack_AttackI can agree with that. Although I'm playing in 1080p now so, to me, HD in games is not overrated. It makes a world of difference when playing games which require precise vision for better aim. I can see the enemy far earlier in HD than in SD, just one small example. But I do like widescreen more than HD itself. I always have been more about true vision across widescreen but now that I have that and HD I am as happy as an oxen in winter.

But I think in 2 years for PS3 or next year for Xbox360 is when a HDTV will be neded. The difference is huge. Look at GOW on a 720P TV and then on a sdTV. To be honest I do not have either a HDTV or either Xbox360 or PS3 but my friends do. Only one has an HDTV but I think he paid too much. the prices are dropping every 4 months, and they are getting better and better. The best set up will be PS3 in 3-4 years with an HDTV which will accept HDMI 1.3 which as a greater color depth

Yep, I play on a SDTV. I have a HDTV downstairs and the urge to play in high definition is gone.thirstychainsaw
Ofcourse HDTV looks nice but I dont see the big deal and it doesn't change the game for me really.
I mean as far as graphics and the look and all the Wii proved most people don't care about that but fanboys will tell you otherwiseÂ
Horray for John Locke! :DWell I'll post some HD pics. What size is your TV, and how far back do you sit from it? If you sit close and it is big then HDTV is definatly called for. See I have a 120" Projection system, and yes HD sources look far superior to the SD sources you can tell bigtime, however if you have a 20" and bought a 20" HDTV it would look better but only if you sat right infront of the TV. Yeah more resolution always looks better, no mater what you have, but it really isn't necissary unless you have a large tv, and sit close to it. 32"+ HDTV really helps 32"- it doesn't help as much.

I can not even watch my standard tv anymore. Everything is just so crisp and clear on HD.
