A couple people mentioned it already but the absolute best plan if you're on a budget is to grab an LCD Comp monitor and the 360 VGA cable. Virtually every single monitor nowadays is "HD" and you can get some real, real cheap. There are also some really nice widescreen monitors that aren't too expensive either. If you decide to go this route I would recommend a widescreen because otherwise there will be black bars (depending on the game). Also, try to find one that supports "1:1" mode. Reason being is 360 widescreen displays at 16:9 but computer monitor widescreen is generaly 16:10. If the monitor does not support 1:1 then it will stretch the image and look a bit distorted. I currently play on the Gateway FPD2485W (about $650) but they also make a 22 inch version for around $300 that would be a great choice. There are also plenty of other brands and such. So some research and pick one up you'll love it. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

Also, the one thing nobody has mentioned about a benefit of HD is how much clearer the text is. Some games looks a ton better in HD while others look just fine in SD but the one thing that always looks so much better in HD is text...any kind of text in any game. After playing in HD for a long time you won't even be able to play in SD anymore because the text looks unreadable in comparison. Clear text is my fav part about HD. Â
There's no excuse except stupidity to be on a next gen console with a SD TV.
Get a PC monitor and VGA cables for christs sake. I bought a used 21" CRT monitor for $15. Buy some $40 VGA cables (I'm assuming you have a 360) and prettymuch any monitor and you'll have 720p HD for barely anything. It looks far far better than SD and crisper than even a normal HDTV.
HD is nice, but indeed overrated. Sure as hell not worth the thousands of dollars to get a decent one.OceanLeetAgreed. If you can afford HD, lucky you, but if you cannot, you are not missing out on heaps. A bit, but not heaps.

It's actually pretty simple.
You can play HD with monitors bigger than 40". And playing your gaming console with a monitor under 40", you won't notice an extremely huge difference, but the difference is noticable enough.
If you play your gaming console with monitors bigger than 40", then the differences really start to be noticed. I play on a 60", and if it was in SD, it would look rather crappy, but in HD, there is a HUGE difference.
Anyone that say's otherwise, is telling you crap.

I'm talking about a cheap alternative to buying an HDTV for the new consoles. And personally I'd rather be playing HD games crowded around a tiny HD screen than looking at a blown up horrible picture on a large SDTV.

I don't think that SDTV pictures are horrible neither do my friends. Please Log In to post.
