No it isn't a FACT, but it is a fact it is the superior platform in terms of technical capabilities and amount of exclusives to choose from.

"Best" is pretty subjective.

Just like no one will be able to come up with a gameuniversally accepted as "best game ever", same thing happens with consoles.

Hmm, when it comes to overall usefulness, PC just has it at the top. When it comes to games though, its subjective.

1.Price-Not even close.

2.Hackers/cheaters/pirates

3.Confusing for people who havent learned about computers.

4.Constant upgrading.

Consoles are just so much easier for most fans, 300 dollars gives me a PS3, Blu Ray, Controller, and i hook it up into my big screen HD TV with surround sound.

I dont have to upgrade anything, i dont have to buy a controller, a vga cable, blu ray, etc etc.

And i prefer games like Infamous and Uncharted over Shogun, WoW, and Civilization.

A display solution is identical for console and PC. Either can use monitor or TV. No difference whatsoever, so eliminate that common cost from the argument.

for me, yes. but i know its not the best for everyone. but it should have a lot of pros over consoles for the majority of people due to the capabilities it brings to the table. modding makes games so much more enjoyable. STALKER, hl2, oblivion, fallout 3, crysis, etc. would not be the same without the ability to be modified and/or have each respective engine used for a mod. having a humongous sauron terrorize imperial city on oblivion is badass, dont lie.

It provides a better gaming experience then consoles to me, or your talking about things that may impede the gaming experience but not the actual experience itself?

Consoles are light years ahead of PC's. Consoles have much better graphics, better hardware, much better customisation abilities, many more mods and best of all? You have the ability to aim much more precisely with the controller.

Realistically you need to spend $1200+ for a nice TV. Technically you could get away with $400 or so, but that is a diminished experience.

On PC you can also spend more or less, but the high high end is ~$1000 (HPZR30W), and the typical cost is ~$300 for a nice monitor.

That PC is the best platform is not just a fact, it's an Empirical Law

"Empirical laws are typically conclusions based on repeated scientific experiments and simple observations, over many years, and which have become accepted universally within the gaming community."

My TV and surround sound is not an accesory of my gaming console, I would have it whether i had a console or not.

If i were to hook up my PC to my TV i would have to rearrange my room and buy the cable to connect them with, its not worth it for me.

One could only argue the price of a gaming rig. Other than that, yes, the PC beats consoles on every single department (personal preferences/subjective criteria aside ofc)

Point is when talking console, since we also include monitor cost in PC, we should include average TV cost in a console purchase.

its as much of a "fact" as it is a "fact" that HBO is the best TV channel.

Not for me it isn't. No matter how powerful they can make it I cannot stand playing with a keyboard and mouse. It feels so unatural and uncomfortable to me. I know people say it's more accurate though and I'm not going to disagree, it's just that I don't like it. I'll stick with consoles and keep my PC for games I can't play on my console. And graphics don't matter to me that much as long as the art style is good.

Point is when talking console, since we also include monitor cost in PC, we should include average TV cost in a console purchase.

haberman13

No, we don't include any display cost since they are THE SAME.

That is what I have been arguing - they aren't the same.

Avg PC: 250

Avg Console: 800

I've never seen a console go for 800 bucks.

Anyways, this is SW, and opinions can't be facts.

It is indeed the best in terms of hardware, but arguable in terms of games. It is my favorite system, but my top 2 games this gen are on PS3. Not to say that PC doesnt have amazing games :).
