 Be easy on the cows, SP.
They think being able to slam into another car (or a wall) at 50mph+ and drive away unscathed is totally realistic.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Besides graphics, you can't really say which one is better if you haven't drove a car in real life.Which is why I can't answer the question
Me too. You can tell they have a real passion for cars and it's genuine. It really comes thru in the game. I don't think I could've said it better than you. And GT is more realistic than Forza. That's why car manufacturers use GranTurismo technology to showcase their actual cars and not Forzas.I love the GT series because it's simply the best. It doesn't apologize for being a sim-cade racer, it just gracefully dances along with unmatched graphics and a certain prideful dignity which seems to elude other games. There's always the sense that it's a substantial, well thought-out product, with boundless care and certainly a lot of time invested within it. There's also an absolutely captivating atmosphere to the menus; I don't know what it is, but it's always just perfect.
Though, I think the simplest way to say it is still the best: Everybody loves Kazunori Yamauchi. Particularly because he owns not one, but two Ford GTs. This franchise is the brainchild of a serious petrolhead, but it's actually been hugely successful. Those two traits tend to be at odds with one another, having a good backstory and doing well, and when they combine, something excellent has been done, by someone passionate about it.
Also, it reliably being late has an endearing quality to it: "Okay Kazunori, we need to launch it now!" "Awwwww, just five more months? Pleeeease?"
:DIn essence, I love how it just seems never to get old and there is always something to do, even if you get a little bored, no more than a weeks goes by and I have to play again.
That is why I love Gran Turismo more than any other racing series.

The teasing is done — Citroën just revealed their new concept car, unofficially called the "Citroen GT" and officially called "GTbyCITROËN," here at the Paris Auto Show and it's hot - it's also supposedly the first car "specifically designed to bring the virtual and real worlds together." What's that mean? Well, apparently visitors to the show can actually drive the car in a true to life simulator on the Citroën stand. But that's not the cool part. The cool part is that it's a joint venture between Citroën and Polyphony, the makers of Gran Turismo. And it sure looks it. Hit the jump for the press release.

At the Tokyo Auto Show, Nissan honcho Carlos Ghosn unveiled the GT-R. The car, which hits the US next Spring, features a multifunction dash display that was developed in conjunction with Gran Turismo Polyphony Digital. The display can monitor oil pressure, oil temp, engine coolant temp, transmission oil pressure, turbocharger boost pressure, throttle position, torque split, steering angle and lateral G-froce. The Polyphony Digital display can also log data that helps improve driving technique and can help with fuel economy. In other Polyphony Digital news, the GT-R has already popped up on Gran Turismo Prologue.
[QUOTE="PS_John"][QUOTE="McdonaIdsGuy"] Oh god.. now realistic = better car models, please give a break, TC is talking about the driving physics of the game which makes it more realistic, and you really need to stop your fakeboy thing ps_john aka PapaGlide aka CleanPlayer..McdonaIdsGuyHow can a game with worse graphics be more realistic lool?? And for your information I'm neither PapaGlide or CleanPlayer, If I used more than 1 account don't you think I would be banned by now?? Professional Drivers don't use Forza 2,yeah righttttt
Driver Jaime Melo sets the bar for the other two drivers to beat, while Mika Salo shows Johnny Mowlem the realism of Sebring in Forza Motorsport 2.
Ex-Ferrari F1 racing giant Mika Salo attempts to beat Jaime Melo's fastest time of 2:07. He does and sets a 2:03 record.
Jaime Melo tries to top Mika Salo's fastest lap while chief technician Rick Mayer (left), Salo and Johnny Mowlem look on.
Giuseppe Petrotta -- legendary designer of the Ferrari Enzo and 360 Modena -- takes a virtual Enzo out on the track at Sebring. And for the record, Petrotta is very proud of the way the Enzo handled when "Dietrich" tore the car in half at high speed.

I knew I read an article about some pro drivers using Forza2, but I was just too lazy to search for it.
Job well done, sir! :)

Except that a real driver in training wouldn't be using the X360 wheel. This looks more like a Forza PR photo shoot. Also I stated Manufacturers using Granturismo technology. Not just drivers. Show me one instance where a car manufacturer is using Forza in any of their products or to showcase any of their products. I might be wrong, so let's see what you got.[QUOTE="LosDaddie"][QUOTE="McdonaIdsGuy"]Professional Drivers don't use Forza 2,yeah righttttt :roll:EmperorSupreme

Fact is, he proved that pro racers also use Forza2 when cows claimed they did not.

Genius Don't worry i haveproof that those other accounts are yours. Ok in reply to the first post, not all the stuff about multiple accounts: I think its hard to judge from prolouge weather GT5 is better than forza in gameplay. Though even if GT5 is better 3 screens at once, even if it does need 3 360s, is awsome, and anyway 3 arcade 360s are not much more than a ps3 :P
I didn't mean graphics because as I said in my first post the visuals in GT5P are much better than in Forza 2. What I meant is physics model, drifting in GT5P is like drifting in Ridge Racer, it's very easy and unrealistic. When you hit a wall not only is there no damage but the car does not react to torque from hitting one side of the car or the other, it's like the hit detection is a huge sphere with no friction and no matter where you hit it just bounces off. You can also accelerate through corners where traction would surely be an issue.
Even compared to PGR4 it may be a bit more realistic in some ways (a bit slower), but in most others even PGR4 is more 1:1 (action reaction) than GT5P. Really disapointing for me, it's not so much that the physics are unrealisitc, it's that they are bad (not 1:1), and it takes me out of the experience constantly.

They use GT because no matter the circumstance, their cars will always be showcased in pristine shiny showroom floor manner. Just as you said, they are showcasing cars. It's a great advertisemnet feature. But how does that appeal to GAMERS who want a complete sim-racing experience to play? You guys (EmperorSupreme, Rikusakki, PS John) didn't even understand what TC meant by realism. He was talking about the racing game play, not aesthetics.
If you want the most realistic showroom modelling experience - GT
If you want the most realistic racing experience - Forza
If you want the most realistic racing experience - ForzaAdobeArtist
Forza might be more realistic than GT, but calling it "THE most realistic racing experience" is just pure nonsense

Are you serious? You honestly believe that Gran Turismo is more realistic because car companies use it to showcase their cars? :|
Well, allow me to introduce you to some fairly obvious concepts of marketing. Gran Turismo is quite possibly the most popular racing franchise in world. They've sold over 50 million copies of the game over the years. What does that translate to? A hell of a lot of free advertisements for automakers. If there's one thing I will always give Polyphony credit for, it's their unmatched ability to make cars look sexy. This is why Gran Turismo is used to display their cars. It's marketing. Nothing more. Nissan contracted Polyphony to design the interface for the GTR's multifunction display. Why? because of their skill designing good looking interfaces for all of their games. It has nothing to do with the realism of the game itself. In the driving sim community, PC sims like Rfactor and GTR Evolution are widely regarded as more realistic than anything on a console. But according to your logic, they aren't as realistic as GT because car companies aren't using them to showcase their products. Please.

Fair enough; if you want the more realistic racing experience on consoles (between GT and Forza which is the context of this thread, and how I meant my initial statement) - Forza

And you would think/hope that would've been plainly obvious.
Gotta shake your head at SW sometimes.
