Hi, I came into some recent money lately and I've been debating on what to buy, so perhaps SW can help me out a bit. My roomate gave me a bunch of origional Xbox games like KOTOR, Morrowind, Halo ect....but I already have KOTOR and Morrowind on my PC, but if the 360 is BC with these then it's a plus in my book

Witcher 2

Halo Reach

Halo 3 (already own)

Splinter Cell Conviction

Fable 2 (already own)

Fable 3 (mabey)

Gears (already own)

Gears 2 (already own)

Gears 3

Alan Wake

Mass Effect 1 (mabey)

And uhh....that's all I can really think of. Now I'm not going to pay for XBL, it's not worth it to me. So does that render Halo and Gears pointless? Without XBL are they even worth owning? On top of this I'm not sure what other 360 exclusives (counting console exclusives) are out there. I honestly can't even think of any.

If I don't get a 360 I will probaby just buy a Smith and Wesson Sigma 9 handgun I was looking at, I can get it modified so it can shoot most types of handgun ammo, and it works well for concealed carry, which I do sometimes. No I'm not crazy, it's for my protection.

Also what multiplats do you recommend? I'm serioulsy debating this. The 360 looks like it has some games I might like, and me and my friend could do system link with it.

I don't know, I had a 360 first but mainly got it for Oblivion. After I logged over 100 hours into the thing it RROD on me, I had 3 of those happen to me. As well as scratched discs. But I hear the new Slims don't have too many problems anymore, and Witcher is pretty fun so I don't know.

And I have a bunch of old Xbox 1 games I can't sell or play, they just sit there. Even though I already have some of them for PC, I wonder how they are on the 360 slim.

Just depends what you're looking for. If you like Gears and Halo, then yes. There's also these things called "multiplats." You should give them a try sometime.

El_Garbanzo

Well I plan on getting a Wii U, I love Nintendo's games. I'm just worried that the 360 doesn't have enough games for me to justify the purchase of one. I'm not getting XBL, so I don't know if Gears and Halo or many other 360 games are even worth owning without online.

I have most multiplats on PS3, not sure if there are any that I would want on 360 at the moment. I don't care about "better mulitplatz" lens of truth crap, I know I won't tell a difference. Only that makes a multiplat better in my eyes really is exclusive content, or if it's a rare bayonetta type situation.

But I would love to play KOTOR on my HD tv, I find PC gaming to be uncomforatable and M/K suck IMO.

Yes I'm not stupid. But how do I know what multiplats to get then? Or what system for? Like I said exclusive content is really the only thing I care about, as long as it isn't a Bayonetta situation then I don't care.

I would have to think of any SP ones then.

I did it, but eneded up playing mostly old games on it. I am in your shoes and don't pay for online. my 360 (just like you games) mostly just sits here. Honestly if you are not going to also invest in Kinect then buying a new 360 is pretty worthless now.

MS doesn't seem interested in making any core games for the system outside of 1 more halo chirstmas holiday this year and 1 more gears game christmas holiday next year. If those two games aren't must haves for you then don't waste your money. Honest opinion.

Compare its competitors, the Xbox 360 has the largest gaming library since it gets all multiplaform games unlike the PlayStation 3 which misses out on PC(Microsoft Windows)/Xbox 360 sharing and the PC which usually misses out on PS3/Xbox 360 console sharing. Developers always make sure that their games end up on the Xbox 360 while the decision on porting it to the PlayStation 3, PC, or Wii is optional. To put simply, if you want the largest gaming library with the highest production value (non-indie games) Xbox 360 is the only system to go.

PS+ is actually cheaper than XBL, and XBL is a rental service as well.

Not sure why you brought up Plus into this, I didnt say anything about it. This has nothing to do with PS3 at all. I have extra money and trying to figure out what I want to do with it.

The 360 has some games for it, my friend has been telling me about others, but I'm trying to figure out which ones there are. Especially for SP, as I'm not going to pay for XBL and I don't know if Halo and Gears are worth owning without online.

If I don't get a 360 I'll just get the handgun I wanted, but my roomate doesn't like it. He says it makes him nervous. So I might get a 360.

Yeah why can't we pay to play online multiplayer, how dare Sony think we would actually want our online to be free give us an option to pay for PS+ to get good deals and freebies. On top of that Microsoft makes us pay to use free apps, they deserve my money way more than Sony.

You'd be better off putting that money towards a PC upgrade. Sell all your old Xbox/Xbox 360 games and use the trade in money to buy Steam gift cards that you could use for the summer sale. If you aren't a big fan of Halo/Gears there's really no point in owning a 360 if you have a good PC

That is another possibility, but I don't like M/K and PC gaming is uncomfortable to me. I know you can use a console controller on it, but it doesn't work on every game, and some games have input lag. I know how to get my PC games on my HD tv, that's not an issue for me. But it doesn't look as good as my console games do for some reason on my TV, perhaps my TV isn't set right?

I currnetly play Morrowind on my PC with graphic mods, they are awesome! I have Oblivion and Fallout for it too with mods, I love user generated content like that. It's really creative to make or find talented people that can make things. Really enriches the game, but a lot of mods are broken and don't work right.

And PC gaming is confusing sometimes, I can play Morrowind with a really good graphic mod that looks better than Vanilla Skyrim, but yet my PC can't run Skyrim! What the hell is up with that?

Mod I was talking about:

Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphic

Oh I forgot about those, I here super meat boy is fun. Someone told me though that you can't play some fo them if you don't have XBL, not sure if it's true though. But I want some retail games, both exclusive (including console exclusives too) or some multiplats (but I don't want to buy it for multiplats).

Which ones do you recommend for someone who isn't interested in XBL? Like what are good SP ones? And are Halo and Gears worth owning without online?

Lemmings pay $60/year for a service that is inferior to a free service (Steam). Can't get any dumber than that. At least while PSN is inferior feature wise (basically lack of cross game chat), playing online is exactly the same on P2P servers

So what kind of argument is it for you to say those gamers are poor because they don't want to pay to play thier games onlne? Hermits are in the same situation. If your argument was toward wii gamers then you might have an argument.

Only real advantage I see about XBL is it usually has faster updates, other than that it's basically the same. I think cross game chat is overrated, that's not a justification for $60 a year in my eyes, that's just an excuse people use to try and justify their purchase. Cross game chat is just a bonus gimmick.

Luckily for me you don't need to be a gold member to get the faster updates, so it's good for me.

Check out a program called XPadder. It allows you to custom map keys to buttons on a controller. You can make the right stick emulate WASD and the left stick emulate mouse movements. Then Q, E, R, Shift, etc can be mapped to the rest of the buttons. It's kind of a pain at first to map them but most games use the same keys so you'll get used to it. I use it for Skyrim sometimes and have all 8 directions used as hotkeys so I am not limited to only 2 like controllers have by default.

[QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]

As far as exclusives go I made a list of the titles I want/have over from my old 360 collection:

Witcher 2

The 360 looks like it has some games I might like, and me and my friend could do system link with it.

loosingENDS

Witcher 2

Halo Reach

Halo 3 (already own)

Splinter Cell Conviction

Fable 2 (already own)

Fable 3 (mabey)

Gears (already own)

Gears 2 (already own)

Gears 3

Alan Wake

Mass Effect 1 (mabey)

+

Lost Odyssey

Blue Dragon

Tales of Vesperia (English version exclusive)

Skyrim (PS3 looks blurry)

Kameo

Viva Pinata 2

Banjo 3

+ future games like

Halo 4

Crimson Dragon

Dust Elysian Tale

Fable Journey

Forza HOrizon

Gears Judgment

Deadlight

Nice list. You forgot a few like Trials HD and Evolution, Fez, L4D 1/2, Minecraft with multiplayer, Forza 4, PGR4, etc.

Not going to bother with L4D, it get's old fast and is far too short. It's too repititive with little varitey. And there is no point in owning it without XBL. Though I might try the PC version because there are mods for it, so you get more then just 5 boring campaigns that you can blow through in 30 minutes to an hour.

I was very dissapointed with L4D. Only played the 360 version, might be better on PC. Don't know.

and a ton of great xbla games

Oh I forgot about those, I here super meat boy is fun. Someone told me though that you can't play some fo them if you don't have XBL, not sure if it's true though. But I want some retail games, both exclusive (including console exclusives too) or some multiplats (but I don't want to buy it for multiplats).

Which ones do you recommend for someone who isn't interested in XBL? Like what are good SP ones? And are Halo and Gears worth owning without online?

uuh idk, tbh most of the best 360 games are mutiplayer centered games. left 4 dead, halo reach, gears 3, etc... viva pinata is great. alan wake was a good game to play through once, halo anniversary is still amazing, banjo kazooie is good, fable 1-3 are enjoyable, halo wars is fun. thats really all i can think of from retail games as far as downloadable go(not sure which ones are exclusive, just naming ones i bought and liked) super meat boy toy soldiers 1&2 bastion trials hd trials evo fez insanely twisted shadow planet shadow complex renegade ops braid geometry wars limbo peggle hydrophobia pacman CE DX splosion man perfect dark comic jumper im sure im forgetting some but thats off the top of my head

Is it worth buying a cheap system that will offer you more games than its competitors, better performance? Is it worth breathing air?

[QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]

[QUOTE="BPoole96"]You'd be better off putting that money towards a PC upgrade. Sell all your old Xbox/Xbox 360 games and use the trade in money to buy Steam gift cards that you could use for the summer sale. If you aren't a big fan of Halo/Gears there's really no point in owning a 360 if you have a good PCBPoole96

Check out a program called XPadder. It allows you to custom map keys to buttons on a controller. You can make the right stick emulate WASD and the left stick emulate mouse movements. Then Q, E, R, Shift, etc can be mapped to the rest of the buttons. It's kind of a pain at first to map them but most games use the same keys so you'll get used to it. I use it for Skyrim sometimes and have all 8 directions used as hotkeys so I am not limited to only 2 like controllers have by default.

I guess I can try it, just some games I noticed work better than others. I just wonder why Morrowind will run on my PC with graphic mods that look better than Skyrims, but yet my PC can't run Skyrim. It makes no sense to me, and Morrowind is a bigger world size with more NPC's so it makes even less sense.

[QUOTE="BPoole96"][QUOTE="JohnnyCageMK"] Cows are too poor for a real online service.ShadowMoses900

Lemmings pay $60/year for a service that is inferior to a free service (Steam). Can't get any dumber than that. At least while PSN is inferior feature wise (basically lack of cross game chat), playing online is exactly the same on P2P servers

Only real advantage I see about XBL is it usually has faster updates, other than that it's basically the same. I think cross game chat is overrated, that's not a justification for $60 a year in my eyes, that's just an excuse people use to try and justify their purchase. Cross game chat is just a bonus gimmick.

Luckily for me you don't need to be a gold member to get the faster updates, so it's good for me.

lol wut? cross game chat and being able to quickly form parties and hop in a game together is not a gimmick. its pretty much essential for people who mainly play multiplayer games with friends

Good list, I will try those out. Is that Perfect Dark Zero you listed? I never played it before, I have PD on N64 and wanted to try the sequel but never did. A lot of people told me it wasn't good, but people are wrong about a lot of games when they say that. And Vice Versa.

As to your comment about XBL and cross game chat, well if you enjoy it then it's good for you. For me personally it's a gimmick, it's not essential to my online gaming. And I have no problems joining parties on PSN with friends. Everything is the same to me basically, I see little difference in the services.

Yes I'm not stupid. But how do I know what multiplats to get then? Or what system for? Like I said exclusive content is really the only thing I care about, as long as it isn't a Bayonetta situation then I don't care.

I would have to think of any SP ones then.

I know you're not. But it looks like you've already answered your own question. Why make a thread about it? If its a legit topic, I would say there are some great XBLA titles out there.

Buying a console for the multiplats? That's like the definition of stupidShadowMoses900

So you don't play multiplats? Wow, you really are a pathetic fanboy. And exclusive-wise, yes...I enjoy Halo and Gears more than any PS3 exclusive I've played with the exception of Demon's Souls. I don't feel the need to be a dribbling idiot about it though.

90% of multiplats being noticeably better on 360. Updates taking alot less time to download. Better online service. 360 is just the better console overall.

I never said that. Did you try to frame me or something lol.

Better gaming performance. Come on Shadow, everyone can see that objectively the Xbox 360 is the best console this generation. It as:

  • The most retail games available
  • The most high scoring retail games available
  • The most downloadable games available
  • The most high scoring downloadable games available
  • Games run the best on it
  • It's the mostconvenient from a gamer's standpoint
  • The online service has the most features

Obviously as a multimedia device the PS3 is the best, but in terms of a pure gaming machine the 360 is better.

Ever play Kameo? GRAW? Metro 2033? At this point yes, imo. The library is there. But a Smith and Wesson Sigma 9 sounds really tempting, dude. Good luck in your choice. EDIT: Yes, Halo and Gears are much more than just an online fest. I dont pay for Gold either, and love those campaigns. The more games the better. That's why I own both PS3 and 360. Now my question is: should I get a Wii dirt cheap, or hold off for the Wii U?

Only thing you said that actually has merit is updates take less time, everything else is just bull.

90% of multiplats are identical and you can't tell the difference. I don't know why you think differently, you obviously haven't played very many PS3 multiplats before if you think that. XBL and PSN are the exact same when it comes to online gaming, there is no difference in any of that.

Have you ever even played a PS3 before?

I believe Skyrim is more CPU intensive so that might be bogging down your performance, Eespecially of you're not running a quad core
