X1 slim will come out eventually, wondering if its possible for them to update the graphics so they atleast be on par with PS4. I don't see why they couldn't, I mean all multi plats run on the X1 fat even if they are in 720 or 900 or whatever.

do you mean upgrade the hardware?
The answer would be no
No, it would cause a rift in the consumer market and there would be insane outrage. If there is a 9th generation of consoles I think it's pretty safe to say that the next Xbox is going to be much more powerful than anything Sony creates for the 9th generation. Not this 40% gap we're seeing now with the PS4/XB1, like a 100%-150% disparity to compensate for the 8th gen.

Sorry, it is possible, just improbable
shrinking the CPU and GPU means that they become faster by default. Now the problem is that if devs use that additional power then the older consoles wouldn't be able to run the new games since on consoles, games are optimized for every component of the system, so devs would have to change their approach to make it scalable like on PC. But scalability means that they can't fully optimize for every component of the system, thus end up wasting resources.
This is an issue that I don't think it'd be worth the time, money and effort to pull it off. Of-course there's Nintendo and their douchebaggery with the new 3ds xl since they have no competition.

ah, thank you for that perfect answer without any nastiness or sarcasm.
@nyadc: That's exactly what I believe will happen as well. MS is seeing a direct correlation between power and sales. I expect them to completely overreact to that trend, as they've been known to do in the past.

Pretty much however powerful a console is at the beginning of a gen it will remain that way throughout even if there are improvements and revisions. The New 3DS is the only console I can think of that actually moved to a stronger hardware model in the middle of a generation, kind of weird and a bad move I think, I know it pissed me off.

I mean it makes sense.

That isnt even correct, When they shrink the die using same hardware specs means less power is consumed which in turns lowers the heat output. has nothing to do with performance increasing. Now if they increase the clock rates then yes,

lol
The cloud makes up for power difference.
lol
Dat lemming desperation.
i actually have a ps4 now. but nice job being an asshole.
I don't think the fat Xbone would be able to play the games made for the slim Xbone though. Look at the New 3DS as an example.
And unless Microsoft offered you to trade your fat for a slim (which would cost them millions and millions) that would enrage a lot of their consumers and fans.

This is the only gen or at least within the 4+ where the most powerful console is actually winning in sales.
No it would kill the current Xbox One
imagine retail stores having to do like Xbox One games and Xbox One XL or whatever they would have to carry 2 diff games in the store and devs would have to now do games on 2 diff xbox ones and they would complain as well
an plus the ppl with the first xbox one would just quit an go get a ps4 or something where they dont get scrwed like they had did
Nope stuck in 720-900p for the next 4-5 years.
The irony of this is 7XXp games make up less than 5 percent of the Xbox One library, 900p games make up less than 10% and 1080p games make up the remaining roughly 86%.
in other words the only games that run in 1080p on X1 are last gen titles like Destiny and indies. Five more years of 900p gaming, gonna be fun!

You really enjoy to spout stupid things, don't you?
As a reminder, you probably should avoid quoting suspect material. At worst, we might have to hand out warnings.

what was stupid about what i said?
if Microsoft upgraded there would be two diff xbox one skews for devs and consumers and merchants thats all factual, and it would disgruntle the early adopters to the system thats just a fact.

Never knew there were several different versions of games for PC considering all the different hardware
Didn't someone make a thread a while back about non-launch consoles doing 4K output or were supposed to or something?
It could be done. Laptops do it all the time with minor refreshes to CPU and GPUs. I would bet there would be class-action lawsuits all over the place if MS went through with it.

id prolly just never buy another microsoft system like thats really scummy i mean ppl bought htat assuming it was the next gen system and like after 2 years they gimp it or somethings thats not legit it in the console business even the wiiU has gone 3+ years already

Everything you said was stupid, hardware specs aren't changing just how its arranged and shrunk. Shrinking the die saves material, saves power consumption which in turns produces less heat. Everything you stated is hyperbole, How many 360 versions were there? along with how many die shrinks? All played the same version of the game, only issue encountered was harddrive requirements which could be bypassed. Same goes with the PS3.

Pretty much. This is about on par with the XO catching up to the PS4 by years end.
No way... the last thing MS needs is to piss off the hardcore Xbox fans who already bought XB1. Won't happen.
