Is it really better to play RE4 with a wiimote than PS2 analog?

I played RE:UC and the aiming is really not easy to control, I mean, you really have to get used to it's aiming style. And after playing it for over half an hour, my arm would start to feel pain

So, is the aiming in RE4 still as frustrating as RE:UC?

Short answer: YES (yes to the question on the thread title)

Long answer: Oddly, RE4Wii's aiming is better then UC. UC is also a on-rail shooter which means theres obviously alot more shooting happening then in RE4Wii. With that said, RE4 Wii's aiming is perfect, once you get past the first minutes of adaptation you'l never want to go back, and you'l understand why it has some of the best controls ever in the genre.

Just out of curiosity, do you play UC with your arm stretched out? Its the only reason i see for feeling pain :?

Who plays Resident Evil 4 with the Dualshock 2 when you have access to the GC gamepad/Wavebird, Wiimote and mouse/keyboard?

And you don't need to hold your arm up to point the Wiimote at the screen.

It's really fun, but the game is made easier to adapt to the Wiimote. I flew threw the game on the Wii, granted it was my third run through of the game.

Wiimote aiming is more accurate, and it isn't tiring unless you're doing it weirdly.

It definitely controls more smoothly, almost to the point of making the game too easy.

Haven't tried the PS2 controls, but did have the GC and currently playing the Wii version. Honestly I don't think you'd be doing anything but stepping backwards if you chose to use the PS2 over the Wii.

It wasnt made easier to adapt the Wiimote, the Wiimote's superior aiming accuracy made it easier to shoot exactly where you wanted. Regardless, its still the best version RE4.

I'm almost positive I read that the game was made easier.

Its the same GC game (+ true widwscreen and PS2 extras). The added accuracy just made it easier to aim and shoot.

The Wii version is the definitive version of Resident Evil 4, too bad it's incredibly easy, I'm not sure if it's just the controls, they made it easier or both, but man, it's a cake walk.

Then play it on hard. Just because it is easier doesn't mean it isn't the best version. If you want difficult Resident Evil, play Zero or the GC Remake.

Going from PS2 RE4 to Wii RE4 is like playing a sniper on a console gamepad, and then switching to mouse & keyboard. The control accuracy is more than tripled.

Play it with the Gamecube controller, it's way more awesome.

They should have kept the laser sight on the Wii version, that crosshair looks so out of place.

In what way? It's pretty irrelevant, considering RE5 will be out in a few months. It's a fun game if you have a Wii, since let's be honest, the games on that are pretty bad. Most people have moved on though.

You can plug the GC controller in RE4Wii and play it with the laser sight exactly like the GC version.

Although i dont see why anyone would whant to do that

Actually, I've been considering it just to get used to using analog in that game for RE5...

But i probably don't have time to even go through that game again before RE5 comes out... too many other games to play...

Who plays RE4 with PS2 analog?

If you're going to play it with analog, maybe because you miss the laser or something, play it with the analog controller the game was originally designed for - the GC controller.

Many people use the GC controller to this day, they don't like the comically oversized Wii reticle.

Either way, I think you missed the boat on this game by about 3 or 4 years.

I haven't played RE4 on the PS2, but I have played the GCN and Wii versions. When playing the GCN version, I LOATHED the controls. Aiming was a bit of a hassle, especially when I couldn't move around a bit and I had to do so with an analog stick and a tiny laser sight that can be difficult to align with an enemy's face, Leon was incapable of doing something as simple as a sideways strafe movement, and he couldn't even walk around with a knife in his hand! I had to walk up normally first, wait for him to waste time bringing out the knife as some Ganado prepares to strike, and hope that I get the first hit in! Upon firing up the Wii version, though, my opinion changed a bit. Aiming was a LOT easier thanks to the Wiimote and the (oversized, admittedly) reticle that made distance shooting a breeze. Knife slashes were also much easier to pull off in the heat of battle against a big group of Ganados (albeit being weaker to compensate for the auto-aim). I was still somewhat irritated by the simple inability to strafe, but not nearly as much because I could pick off my enemies much more easily with the vastly improved aiming and didn't have to worry about dodging attacks as much. (In fact, because of the ease of pulling off headshots with the Wiimote, I would now run up to whoever was stunned and deliver a good kick to knock him/her and anyone else around down to the ground, and start hacking away with the knife! Much less ammo wasted that way.)

Correct ^^

and the wii version was deffinitely the best. I owned the PS2 version and completed the gamecube version. you get the best of both worlds with the added bonus of razor sharp controls and from what i could gather increased enemy numbers :)

deffinitely the definitive version ^^ + gamecube support for people who couldnt get round the size of the reticle :P

If you get the mouse control mod, it's best on PC. There's also a mod which significantly upgrades the textures, making it look far superior to the overrated Wii version.

RE4 on cube, buddy...better controls, IMO.

BTW, RE4 > ANY current gen game. Funny too, RE4 influenced most current gen titles...just look at the majority of 3rd person shooters, using its exact camera perspective. ;)
