Is it safe to assume that Xbox will win North America next gen by a wide margin?

Nope, first we don't know the price and second the "no exclusives" for the first 2 years can be disastrous for early sales.

I think they could. Will they? Depends. They have the much better hardware, but now they need to show the games. They have to give people a reason to choose Xbox over PS5.

Look, Sony’s PS5 reveal this month was ok. But it wasn’t mind blowing or really all that impressive. They showed one good game. The rest were kid games or a DLC Spider Man game they are gonna try to sell as a full game experience.

The IP’s and games MS is rumored to be announce could shift things. I mean, Xbox is currently competitive in North America. Sony doesn’t have a big lead.

The casual market is where they could gain the advantage depending on pricing there are a lot of people who only play 2-3 games a year and most of those jumped over to ps4 this generation.

Don't they just have to imply how much better it looks and plays on the next gen systems?

I think the price of the Series S will be significantly cheaper than the PS5. Perhaps close to a hundred.

Xbox is more powerful,looks better(sw poll),games will look/run better(recent p.spencer interview,power advantage,see pro v x DF for proof that power matters).

Xbox has more game studios ,making more games with the likes of FH4,sea of thieves and the outer worlds beating Sony’s big game studios titles like TLou2,days gone and other big hitters like death stranding Already

Gamepass Is unrivalled and Xbox will struggle to have a launch library as bad as the ps5.....so where it really matters Xbox win

Anything is possible, but Sony has stronger first party studios overall and more brand loyalty. People like myself will not be buying anymore Xbox consoles because the games will be on PC (this is a good thing). So, it is no longer about selling consoles, but more about game sales and selling services. Personally, I only care that they make good games. I am happy paying for Xbox Game Pass and enjoying the games on PC.

This is what actually amazes me the most. Xbox this gen has paltry exclusives yet seems almost sell half of the PS4. Brand loyalty or caged ecosystem are amazing.

I do not think it's realistic for Xbox to do any scandalous movements in the next 2 years and with that out of the way, I can't see PS maintaining a lead.

This is more of a gutfeeling because I cannot see how 40-50m Xbox has a major base outside NA. Certainly not Asia but I have no solid proof.

What if MS positions the XsX as the most affordable workstation/gaming PC instead of a console? Bundling optional Adobe products and mouse & keyboard, and sell them not only to gamers but also to offices and art schools that need affordable PCs.

I can’t speak for others, but I’m picking Xbox again next gen. Sony doesn’t offer me the games or services I like.

The ps5 will become cheaper and so It will continue to sell more units.

if the series x is same price or lower than ps5 then they will be in a huge position to do something this gen.

more power for the same price or lower price? almost like the reverse of this gen.

however to capitalize on it. MS need support of a huge catalog of games. thats what made the 360 beat the ps3. it simply had more games. towards the end japanese studios like square enix etc... gave the ps3 a lot of exclusives which helped tilt the favor at the end.

so i think xbox should advertise game pass on every series X box. in big letters! "100's of games for 1 dollar" something like that. also pack in halo. advertise backwards compatibility on the back of the box.

The only way they would is if the XSX like $100 cheaper. If its noticeably cheaper and noticeably more powerful (a much better power gap than ps4 vs x1), then there's a chance of it dominating in NA, especially with game pass improving over the years. If its the same price, there is no chance of winning against a brand that "spams" 90+ meta score exclusive games on a yearly basis.

I really don’t care if they “win” or not. As long as they continue to make a product and games that I enjoy then they’ve won with me and that’s all that really matters.

They've got a lot of work to do in order to pull it off.

Lol sorry but a 15 to 17% gpu advantage isn't much better hardware, especially when the X1X had about a 44% advantage over the pro. If they couldn't win then how are they going to win with that advantage being cut in half?

Yup. It's a champion move for world wide attraction. Keep Game Pass cheap for a while too to have them hooked even more.

Microsoft has a lot going for them, yes. However, assuming they win NA from that is ridiculous. The best the brand has ever done was w/ the 360, and that was thanks to; 1) 1 year head start, 2) Being much cheaper, 3) Actually having games and better services.

And then there is this gen. Microsoft has both the most powerful console and consistently sells their base for cheaper than Sony. And yet, they're outsold, out-gamed, and out-performed by the weaker, more expensive brand.

Not initially. Xbox One was more expensive and weaker, dragged down by Kinect afaik. I think they immediately scrounged an SKU without the Kinect though. They heavily shot themselves at the foot initially. Highly doubt they'd do that: TV TV, no HALO gameplay reveal, no traditional used games or something. Yet maintained a little less than half of its base.
