I've had it for 5 years(not the slim one), played the best games, and now the PS3 era is here. I've played: Jak and Daxter series, MGS 2-3, DMC 1-3, Ratchet and Clank 1-4, God of War 1-2, Final Fantasy X(haven't finished FF12), and a lot of other good games. I can't think of any other good games that I should check out; is my PS2 now useless? I don't think I"ll really need it, God of War 2 was the last big game, and I just finished that. If I get like $50-$70 for my PS2+controllers+games, should I do that?

hell naw man, keep it. i've had mine for 7 years ever since launch and i still be playing it. i mean their are times where i would update my PC to play up to date games but when it comes down to the console where you can just pick up and play, i wouldnt sell it for the world. i mean damn, i still play my PS1 games from back in the day. other than that, if you sell everything your waisting a ton of money and some good memories of gaming.

So you want to trade in all that, a console, controllers, and a bunch of fun games for what, only enough to buy a new 360 game?
Hold onto it. It's worth it.

Trust me you haven't played the best yet. Ico, Shadow of Col, Okami, Rogue Galaxy, kingdom hearts1-2, Resident Evil 4,.....

There are sooo much more games out there for the ps2 taht it can easily last you another year or 2 in next gen era.

Seriously, Im keeping my ps2 and my games, why would i trade in the greatest console evr? (in terms of game library that at least)

I forgot to put Kingdom Hearts 1-2 and RE4, I beat both of those 2. I've had a blast with PS2, but I just can't think of anything else. I want Guitar Hero 2 for Xbox 360, that's what I"m thinking about right now.

I think the best thing about the PS2 is that you can say you've played all the best games but you've really only played a 1/4 of them.  There's still plenty of great games on the console that you can go back and play that you may have missed, not heard about, etc. So I'd definitely hold to your PS2

Most horrific, bad and at the same time funny trailer for a game, I have seen in a while :P

No. There are seriously thousnads of other games for you to play on your PS2. That plus you could just use it as a DVD player.

You are not abandoning the PS2 by getting the PS3. You can continue playing it so go for it. Go get the PS3.

Lesser known and small devs will still support PS2 so I would still keep it.

.hack//G.U. Vol 2 //Reminisce is coming out May 8th. You should go play  volume 1//rebirth and then get vol 2 in may if you like it. They are really good games, great story and its a really fun action rpg.

I just purchased my 4th PS2 today, with GoW2 of course, so no i dont think you should get rid as it still has some absolutely legendary games that i guarantee you'll want to go back and play some time in the future.

I've also still got my Nes, Snes, Megadrive (broke), PS1, N64, Cube, PS2, Xbox etc. and i'll never get rid of them. Unless they break and i'll buy another one if i can. :D

I never say goodbye to my systems once I purchase the successors; I still play my SNES, Dreamcast and Genesis to this day.  It's more like "be right back" for me.
