Already 10 million units sold through and counting means, yes. This is what made the PS2 so memorable, the massive install base. Hence, game developers do not need to worry as much releasing a game on the PS4 because the number of potential consumers is huge.
If I had wanted to wait to play DR3 then I guess sure. But I didn't. I knew I was getting an X1 because I wanted to play DR3, titanfall, sunset overdrive, forza horizon 2, quantum Break, halo 5, new gears, Fable. Look at what a console has to offer now, and in the future. I know, now 2 games can be played on PC and in the future others may as well. Other Ps titles may be available on tablet and PC through psnow in the future. But when buying a console NOW, look at what can be played NOW

I don't think they will offer PS4 games on PS Now!
@lglz1337: if you did some research this choice could be verry simple for you!
i'll give you a hint +200 awards gaming
That he can play on a ps3 he may, like me and others, already own? And the multiplayer is free there? Great selling point.
Get a PC. Much better Gaming Device to Invest in.
Very costly for me if i go for a high end system, if i go mid range i'm afraid i may've to upgrade all over again after three years :( Consoles i can enjoy for minimum 7 years without any fear of upgrades. I can't afford a High end PC :)
The PC can be used for more than just gaming. But, if its consoles you are looking for, i'd say it all depends on personal preference.
PC sucks because you can't play PS4 exclusives on it. Do you really want to buy a gaming rig just to play Battlefield at a higher resolution? Or some stupid PC game like tree simulator? Or some nerd PC game like World of Warcraft? PC doesn't get any good exclusives anymore, this isn't the 1990s. Developers know that PC users will just pirate their games so all the best games come to consoles. PS4 has the best exclusives coming, so yes you should invest in a PS4.

PC has no good exclusives.

Sounds about right.
An investment would imply a profit in the future, be it financial or experiential. I would not give the advice of investing in either console at the moment. There value will drop along with the value of the games. It would be better to wait out the next couple years picking up games you were interested in the past. Once there is a wider library of games and the consoles are cheaper would be a better time to buy either.

only of you want to miss on great games and fill up the gaps with crappy games that look like they were designed for PS2.
It's like you guys aren't even trying.

Implying there aren't any crappy games on consoles.
As someone who has both, PS4 is a much better investment. PS+ is pretty cool, and Sony's upcoming first party exclusives (The Order, BloodBourne, and Uncharted 4) are more appealing than Microsoft's (Quantum Break, Halo 5, and Sunset Overdrive)
Glad i have my X1 and haven't regretted getting it once since launch. And if you don't have a PC to play games on in the first place, does it matter if a few title make it over to PC in the future from X1?
DR3, Forza 5, Titanfall, Project Spark, Halo MC Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Fantasia, Dance Central, Killer Instinct, Shape Up, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crackdown, Scalebound, Ryse, etc..... not to mention some great looking indies. All of which you can't play on the PS4. Plus all the great multiplats that are on ps4 as well.
WISER....but if you can live with the multi plats and overall library of this year, go for it. A lot of people on the other hand have been regretted it...for example @Blabadon
I mean, I haven't regretted it per se, most of it is that I'm just a whiny bitch. Like today I showed my PS4 off to a friend, he happened to have heard of Towerfall, and we played a shitload of Towerfall matches. It was totally awesome, especially since I could use my Vita as a controller.
It's just that there haven't been that many special games on it and I'm perfectly fine pointing that out. Like there's MGS Ground Zeroes which is fucking amazing, there's Contrast which I love, and then there's okay stuff like Rayman Legends (sobs), inFamous, Octodad, etc.
The only other compelling titles really are indies, and 99% of the time I prefer them on Vita. So the Vita and PS3 get lots of use, while the PS4 sits there as a nice looking Blu Ray player. I complain more than I should though; it's part of being a year one buyer.
I don't advise buying a PS4 yet. I have an Xbox One and a PS4. I use my One almost every single day, the PS4, maybe once a month. I know a lot of people say it's not worth owning either yet, and I kind of see there point. However, I haven't regretted either purchase. I know they'll be worth the money in the long run. It is probably a good idea to wait for price drops and bundles for both consoles though. As for PC gaming, I don't like it at all.

Exact opposite for me.
I own both and the PS4 gets use every week, the Xbone does not. I am a PS+ and Xbox Live subscriber. If you only have XBLG and not PS+, I could see that. I could imagine if someone had PS+ but not XBLG playing their PS4 more. I have both services.
PS+ gave me 14 games so far this year and XBLG gave me 5. That factors in big time. The PT PS4 exclusive Kojima demo was a nice bonus last week. I bought both at launch. Of course, I knew going into this it was launch year so I expected this. Truth be told my PS3/PC are getting more playtime than either.

dance central, shape up, ryse,
these are arguments against owning an xbox one
I have a PC and all systems and they are all good...if money was tight I would go for a PS4
Only invest in a Xbox One if you really want to play Halo.
Of, course, not yet. The Xbox One gets a remake at the end of this year, but you'll have to wait until Holiday 2015 to actually play a new Halo game.

Reason?
@SolidTy: I have both XBLG and PS plus as well. The thing is the PS4's free games have done nothing for me. Resogun was good, the rest literally haven't been for me. GwG however, gave me Max, and Guacamelee, 2 games I had an interest in playing. I also liked Crimson Dragon for a short time too believe it or not. The biggest problem with the PS4, at least in my opinion, is there is way too many puzzle games, and except a few exceptions, I don't like puzzle games. And that's mostly what they are giving on PS plus too. I'll agree completely though, that the P.T demo gave me a reason to play the PS4 again, and it was well worth it. But only for a night.
Well both PS4 & Xbone have a small but imo decent games library.. Personally am happy with my PS4 !!
The PS4 shouldn't even be a consideration until late 2015. Make your call then.
Will you pick up a PS4 eventually?
As of now no. I do like the looks of BloodBorn and No Mans Sky. The Xbox will eventually get No Mans Sky though. So at this time it will need to be a big pull for me.
It's already a fact that in May Sony applied for a new PS4 SKU and they're improving the Wi-Fi. It's also probable that it's going to get a larger HD, but we'll just have to wait and see on that one.
Wait till Q4 2014. I've got $500 set aside for a PS4 and Diablo 3: Ultimate edition is making me drool, but I'm going to wait.

You only need to get a good GPU and CPU initially. The rest, you can upgrade later for a very reasonable price. And you only need to upgrade once per console generation, honestly, so you wouldn't need a new GPU for about 5 years if you got a decent one now. It would cost about $1000 to get a decent machine that could outclass the consoles, and in about 5 years you could pay another $500 and be fine. $100 a year ain't so bad, but the initial investment is a bit rough, admittedly. You will save a fortune in software, though, so it pays for itself if you play a lot of games.
As has been mentioned earlier, the PC is the way to go. Don't go cheap, though. If you want your future upgrades to be cheap and easy, you need a nice CPU, motherboard, and power supply. A case with good air flow will also greatly improve the reliability of your PC. Expect to spend a little more than $1000 on your first build and $300 on upgrades every 5 years after that.
Considering a PS4 plus online fees over 5 years costs $650, the PC hardware still costs more over the course of a gen. If you play a lot of games, though, the PC gets much cheaper very quickly. If you are dead set on a console, I would strongly advise sticking with the last gen stuff until more quality games are released and new SKUs with bigger hard drives come out. 500 GB is not going to offer enough storage to hold an entire generation's library. It is only a matter of time before 1 TB models come out, and that will save you money and hassle by not having to install your own.
If you already have a PC and are looking at a console as an exclusives machine for the rest of the gen, then I'd say go WiiU>PS4>XB1.
If you're looking at a console as your primary gaming machine and want access to as many titles - exclusive or not - to play, either the XB1 or the PS4 makes a fine choice.
