Is Killer Instinct the greatest fighting game ever made?

As a fighting game it was horrible. Worse than Mortal Kombat mechanically speaking, and MK was plenty bad in its own right.

It was such a great fighting game, with such deep yet easy to grasp mechanics, with such a compelling character roster, that sold so well that it took 17 years for a sequel to get green lit.

Excluding Smash Bros, Killer Instinct on the SNES was probably my favorite fighting game ever.

Pulling off those 8+ hit combos was so damn satisying. Not even gonna go into the Ultra combo

I may sound like a weaboo here, but the truth is that I have never enjoyed fighting games made by western developers.

I always loved it, definitely one of the best.  If I eventually pick up a 1 I'll likely grab the game. 

No, it was an average game back in the day and I expect it will be below average today. It was in the same league as Eternal Champions and Kasumi Ninja. Not anywhere near the level of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or Samurai Showdown.

laso if we are talking about oldies, mortal kombat was better, even bloody roar, but i did like killer instinct a lot too.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and 3rd Strike are and Street Fighter best fighting series around.

seriously it wasn't that good of a game to begine with, i don't get everyones hype for this game, all it was, was a rip off of mortal kombat, it's not a system seller.

The Greatest fighting game is Marvel vs Capcom 2, SNK vs Capcom 2, and Power stone 2 back on the dc days

Mortal Kombat is probably my favorite, but I recognize that Street Fighter is likely the best in the sense of tournaments and such.  KI aint even close.  Oh adn I loved Soul Calibur II!
