It's an 07 release, been confirmed numerous times by gaming journalists and also Konami left hints on their website. Endfinal
I see some people like to live in a blind hope. I'm sorry man, but that just isn't going to happen. There is no way Kojima will have made a metal gear solid game in such a space of time; especially on the PS3. Â

At least I hope they show something at E3 this year. Â

Metal Gear Solid - 1998
Metal Gear Solid 2 - 2001
Metal Gear Solid 3 - 2004
If you do the math... the interval is 3 years.
2007 is 3 years after 2004.Â
That's what everything I've seen keeps saying.
Yet every time I hear it, the only thing I can think is "like hell..."

 Like what?Â
Like the interview with Kojima a month ago stating that everything is going to plan and the 2007 release date is still a go.
Now I'd like to ask you what signs tell you its not going to be released this year? Because all the other fanboys keep saying it's not?

I love Metal Gear Solid. :| It's probably my favourite series of all time, so why you feel the need to say i'm a fanboy is beyond me. I am simply realistic. Sony would have begun the hype-train if this game was launching within six months. There'd be screenshots. Anything at all. Like all the other metal gear solid releases, the anticipation leading up to launch would be huge.
Then there was leipzig, in which Kojima showed off a trailer. He said to the audience that he loved the convention, and would return the next year, hopefully with something playable. Leipzig is in august/september. You do not show off a playable build of your game at a convention if it's weeks away from release.Â

Uhhhh, actually not. I'm more happy with the recent releases and those coming this summer than my other consoles. The only game I have to look forward to on the 360 is really Mass Effect.

Actually you do.... or have you forgotten TGS. We won't see any more on the game until July. If you're a fan of the series, you know that details around each installment are always sparce.
Plus, I'm sure that the development company behind the game has a much better idea of it's development than a bunch of speculators on the internet.

I'm looking forward to Mass Effect, Fable 2, Halo 3, Too Human, Forza 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. :)Â

You do know that unlike the years that have passed, E3 is no longer in May this year. That answers your question why no news is being released now.Â

No. :| Just no. The hype-train leading up to Metal Gear Solid is immense. I remember PSM with the last one having the "count-down to metal gear solid 3" feature every month with a new screen, a year before release. And TGS is not an expo like Leipzig. Game consoles are left around for finished games to be played; like before the 360 launch where you could wander round playing kameo and PDZ. You do not have a playable build of a video game which is launching in a few weeks. You have the finished game. Common sense, man.

I'm well aware of that. I'd also like to know what planet you're on whereby E3 is the only medium in which you can release screens or information on your game. Â
Lets hope so, So many questions need to be answered in this next installment
Will Solid Snake and Raiden hook up?
Will the Solid Snake help save the world?
Will the Solid Snake pull the trigger and end his life?
I only wish the teaser trailers made any sense to answer all of our questions.

1. I didn't call you a fanboy, since you can clearly see I said OTHER fanboys.
2. Sony can't just GET screenshots out of nowhere, Kojima Productions has to give them some, so without anything, there can be no hype train.
3. You're basing the comment of showing a playable build specifically on your own opinion. The fact that there would be a playable build so late could increase the hype by thousands if the gameplay is fun in the demo because then the hype would generate high and fast and since the game is only coming out in a couple months, it could only continue to grow and more people would buy the game.

I'm on earth, how about you? Did you know that MGS big news always come out at E3, TGS, GDC, and another european games expo that is already dead? Or we're just talking about games in general not only MGS because as far as the topic goes... its MGS.

Indeed, let's hope. I love Metal Gear, and if it does indeed come out this year i'll be very, very pleasantly surprised. I am a realist however, and really cannot see it happening. After all, Lair, Motorstorm and Warhawk were all launch games right up until a week before their supposed release; look at how long it took for them to actually come out. And especially with Kojima, there's just no way he could have had enough time with the PS3 to make a game of his usual calibre.Â

Stop and consider what you're saying for a moment. Here is the scenario you're proposing:
"Ok we have a demo video and some new screens of the latest build, sir."
"Great, we'll show those off at E3...."
"Sir, there is no E3 this year."
"Oh ok. I guess we just WONT SHOW THEM OFF AT ALL, then...."

1. The hype train was created by the magazine, not by Kojima or his team.2. The MGS3 demo was first released at TGS, a few weeks before the games release.

Havent you noticed that it takes about 3 years for every mgs game to be made. also...how is it blind hope, it says in the trailers 2007 and everywhere else. Your the one whos just guessing by saying 2008Â

I rate your post a 5 out of 5 for making laugh.
I'm sure they will finish it and the game won't be rushed. If need be they will pay for more for employees to work longer or hire employees to work during the night shift.
