Is Microsoft aware of the negative buzz around X720 ?

Rumors of an under-powered console graphically in favor of Kinect 2.0 seems to have generated a lot of negative buzz for MS lately with media outlets and hardcore gamers.

But does MS care, or in touch with what consumers want like they did back in 2006?

I remember Sony used to be the old & out of touch corporate that don't seem to get out of its own way with statements like "PS3 will instill discipline" and "people will buy it even if it has no games" etc.. comments. But somehow they seem to have gotten their act together if the rumors of the PS4's superior hardware design relative to X720 is true.

Having said that, and if the rumors were to be taken seriously, What would you advise a company like MS for next gen?

I feel the only advice I could give is to monitor closely what happened to Nintendo, they lost the loyalty credit they had with hardcore gamers last gen with the Wii in favor of casuals.

Which served them well until the casual fad novelty ran out, and now neither casuals nor hardcore gamers seem to be as interested in their new under-powered console as they did with the Wii.

Kinectbox or nogamesbox.

I might get it for a blu ray player though.

Statistically, in the U.S. the aptly named new Xbox, the Xbox 720, is searched for considerably more than the PS4.

In the last 11 months, searches for information on the new Xbox has overwhelmed searches for PS4 or Playstation 4. Looking closely at how both future consoles stand in the eyes of the world, now remember, (The PS4 is essentially Japanese, Asian, while the Xbox is American), the anticipated American muscle machine crunches the import

If we narrow our search to the U.S. population, the gap widens even more.

I know what youre thinking. We did some additional research into Googles track record and found that consistently, Google Trends accurately predicted the winner of competing devices. Our most notable find was Googles prediction that Blu-Ray Movies would win and beat HD-Movies. That graph depicted below shows how the Xbox 720 (In Red) is separating itself more and more as time goes on. We suggest you take a look at Google Trends and compare Xbox 720 and PS4, and select the Forecastfeature. The results, if you dont believe us by now, will shock you.

The only negativity is coming from the Sony drones. I doubt MS is too worried about a company thats on it's last legs. All these rumours are BS anyway. Anyone who knows the actual final specs will be under very strict NDA's.

To be honest, I'm hoping that B3yond, GoW: Ascension, and The Last of Us flops. It's so depressing to go on youtube and watch PS3 gamers play their great games while we 360 boys have no good exclusives left.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.  I still vividly remember them feeding the "buzz" at the beginning of last gen with crap like "BluRay will be $1000" and probably feeding that BS article about how Cell was broken to The Enquirer.

People underestimate the internet time and time again and I'm not even sure how they do it.  All of the rumors and speculation seem to line up and paint the same picture of what is to come.  It's not about the "Sony drones" as some put it going out there and waging Jihad on the next XBox console.  That's a reality that all their friends have come to terms with long before anything happened.  It's when you have the XBox die-hards starting to talk about this stuff that you need to start worrying.  Your friends WILL listen to you on matters of XBox.  That is what social media and internet is all about.  Right now, the picture isn't looking pretty for XBox720.  It would be one thing if the tech specs weren't uber wunderbahr, but in conjunction with this "noise" about DRM it is starting to be pretty brutal.  

Of course, the one thing none of us are really mentioning is "How does Microsoft think about this stuff?"  You know they've heard it.  It's their job to hear it.  You can't do a Google search for 720 or PS4 without coming across it.  Perhaps they are waiting for their "Riiiidge Raaaaaacer" moment or the "$599" moment at Sony's event on the 20th to start combating the rumor mill for maximum effect.  It's a gamble, though.  If that moment doesn't come, the internet will be blanketed in PS4 hype before they ever got a chance to make a move.  If you don't believe the internet has any effect on consoles, you honestly need to take a second look at how the PS3 was being systematically dismantled up until 2007 by it to know you are wrong.
