Ok I'm really confused as to whether fanboys think the wii's motion sensing controls are bad. MOst of the time its the usual. Its a gimic it makes gameplay worse etc. But when a game comes along like SSBB which will not use motion sensing controls then they say the game is automatically going to fail cos it doesn't use motion sensing. Seriously fanboys make your mind up!monkeysrfat
Just like any new hardware, if it's not properly used, it turns out bad. But when properly used, it turns out amazing. The DS had this problem, too. Hopefully the Wii's growing pains will not last as long.
I really dont like this whole motion sensing control things. I will actually buy a Wii if is more of the old school style.ni6htmare01its not as bad as it seems. when games use both wiimote and numbchuck games feel like old school controls to me. but just like any new controller it takes time to gets used to the new placed buttons..
Depends on the game. RE4: Wii edition works great because it gives you more accuracy when you play = making it easier to pop off zombie heads.
Some games suffer though. One, in my opinon, is Splinter Cell Double Agent. It suffered from horrible motion sensing controls, but it could have been better, with a bit more timer spent.
Plus, no the motion sensing controls dont get old. - Do you get tired of using a tradtional controller? no.
Same goes for the Wii. Its fun, and it does not feel like its getting old.

Funny thing is that the DS is finally breaking out of that problem. The touch screen was under-utilized in just about every game I've seen up until they showed off Zelda and Ninja Gaiden, two games whose control schemes have been said to be improved from their button-pressing counterparts.

Exactly. Some of the few games to really, REALLY utilize the touch screen were Nintendogs, EBA, and MP Hunters. Some of the turn-based strategy games like AoE and AWDS played better with the stylus, but could've been played with the normal controls, too. Almost all of the others only used the second screen as a map, and/or used traditional controls instead of touchscreen controls.

Play RE4 for the Wii.
I did. The addition of the motion control was not enough to overcome the realization that I was playing the same game I did two years ago.
But was that experience improved?
Most seem to think so. The ones who don't are busy worshipping Eurogamer.

Well, a big reason why I didn't buy RE4 for my GameCube OR my PS2 was because I absolutely detested the controls. The Wii kicked the game up for me from "unplayable" to "zomgholywowamazing"

On the Wii, it's fantastic!
Glad I didn't buy it before.

Interesting. I fell in love with the control scheme in RE4 and actually brought the series new life in my opinion. I think the Wii's motion control can bring new innovation to games, but I'm not exactly sure that should by default come at the expense of other improvements in other facets.
It depends on personal preference. Do you want the immersion of motion sensing, or the precision of regular controllers? Some games need motion sensing, like Wii Sports, Wario ware, cooking mama, ect, because the motion sensetive controllers are what make it fun. But a Game like Rainbow six, or others, you need regular controls.

I didn't play the earlier RE games for their control schemes, and RE4 for the GCN and PS2, IMO, were only slightly better.
I dunno, I guess I'm alone in my preferences. IMO, controls have to come first. They are my main point of interaction with the game. They have to be seamless and transparent, otherwise the flaws will be continually intruding in on the experience and ripping me from the game and ruining the immersion. RE4 may have been a quantum leap ahead of the previous RE games, but it was still lacking IMO because its control scheme was still very flawed.
