I think we need to establish what is actually going on here.
Playstation fanboys are, quite simply, triggered by seeing Xbox get positive attention. Or more importantly, any attention at all. It angers them viscerally to see PlayStation not being the center of attention. That's all there is to it.
They hate even more, that we are not in 2014 anymore, and we are not discussing Don Matrick TV TV Sports, Kinect, Ryse, Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive. Or even 2017.
I mean, Xbox isnt even allowed to do marketing campaigns for their own games anymore. Microsoft buying Ads = astroturfing and "inorganic" growth. It doesnt matter that Playstation outspent Microsoft on advertising 3 to 1 last year during the launch window of these consoles.
As GeneralMLD said on Twitter (who used to be a poster here), Playstation fanboys are not used to seeing objectively popular Zeitgeist dominating games mass marketed, that they cant play. They have not been used to that for a very VERY long time. The last time they felt this was during the 360 era, and this activates their PS3 PTSD.
Quite frankly, Playstation fanboys are anxious that the zeitgeist is shifting. But also anxious about the fact that Gamepass giving you access to hundreds of games and day 1 releases for only $9.99/mth and if you’re new you can even get 3 months right now for only $1!
