Oh yeah they completely f*cked her up. I used Jade as an example because she is a long running character and one of my personal favorites but Skarlet looks like actual pandering to a certain crowd in this one.

@NathanDrakeSwag: if by "pandering" you mean making her look more badass and less prostitute. I know they aren't mutually exclusive, necessarily, but it seems to me the issue being raised here is a lack of bewbage rather than a the model being sloppy, character-inconsistent, or even unattractive

Can you imagine every male character in MKX wearing nothing but a banana hammock and flip flops? And then in XI they wear normal combat attire, but 3/4s of the women on these boards go on a tirade about SJW pandering?
Remember, the game has two different timelines. Also, she looks pretty good. I have nothing to complain about.

yeah, that one is really messed up. The MK11 one looks nothing like MK9. They even have different faces.
I honestly don't care. If they choose to not make the female character's outfits very sexual then it doesn't bother me at all. All I care about is how good will the fighting mechanics in this version of MK is going to be and the Fatalities and so far the Fatalities looks freaking awesome.

This, so much this. As someone who has been playing games since the 80s, I don't like the ideology that has crept in to some game devs. Mk was about pushing boundaries and making a brutal game in the spirit of heavy metal/rock and roll.... but millennials didn't' carry the torch and dropped it somewhere after 2013, hence we have the creep of a cult called intersectionality that poisons everything it touches. You see this in movies and mainstream media now too. Waiting for people to stand up and push back.
You realize this design is also pandering, right? Just to horny teenagers. Horny Teenagers aren't really the baseline for gamers anymore.
Don't you know that pandering is only when companies cater to groups that you don't associate with. :)

It's a fighting game, not a porno.
If a characters iconic, then yes. Ryu's simple white/red or Chun LI's blue dress act as a go-to for players of the series, and something intrinsically associated with it as much as the theme tunes. Not that I would really include much of the MK cast as Iconic beyond perhaps Raiden, Sub-Zero, Goro and Scorpio.
Indeed, if we're going to use to the argument "why do you need to enjoy woman titties", then we might as well use the argument "why does the game need blood and guts" as both are aesthetic indulgences. Apparently a pair of tits being more offensive than people getting mutilated.
Mortal Kombat is intrinsically exploitive. It's how it made it's name, the combat was absolute shit compared to it's Japanese peers. Seriously, anyone praising MK go on GOG or pick up the MK collection, see how janky that shit is.
Stuff like "I have a real woman yo" or "this is a non issue", titties actually are a huge appeal of fighting games. Look at the DLC sold for SFV or how Mai Shiranui (not the supposed male lead character) helped keep KOF relevant.
Instead of removing it, and make everyone looking, well... bland. The men should be sexualized as well to please the opposite end of the spectrum.
Part of the appeal of a game is the unadulterated fantasy element, treating a fighting game like it's a serous simulator that has no place for fun is... stupid?
I do think game characters from the west overall have become less appealing. That lady in the OP doesn't look like someone I would even want to see with less clothes on, so good job I guess if the goal is to be unappealing. Otherwise it's not great character design, and bad character design will of course have a bit of an impact on sales, I'm sure. If they want to make that 'sacrifice' to make western gaming less appealing, then that's what they can do.
I thought the character designs were great in 9, and the changes made in X were pretty horrible. I don't care how much clothing characters have as long as they look cool. However, when they do shit like they did with Mileena's face in X, I get grumpy.
I don’t think it’s SJW in mortal Kombat I think art styles have just changed.
The problem is political agendas have become rampant in so many medias that we as consumers are in the defense. lol I still can’t believe what they did to wolfenstien.
@uninspiredcup: Nobody said boobies were offensive. No need to make stuff up. To compare breasts to blood and guts in a fighting game is a horrible comparison. Its a fighting game. Fighting is violent, not sexual.
I have nothing against the conservative designs honestly, Jade, Mileena, Tanya and Skarlet look great imo, Kitana doesn't look bad but she looks wierd, bah.
