Is there any concrete evidence that political correct forces have anything to do with the development of Fatal Kombat or is it just typical anti-leftist, anti-PC bashing by right-leaning or libertarian gamers? Where is the evidence?

Ask question but lace it with spurious comments as to make whoever answers it give it credence.

And that's why people don't like the fanatical left. Nicely done.

@uninspiredcup: Even though who you quoted is a Trump voter? He's just not jumping head first like you and the TC are doing.

If fanservice matters to you that much, Tecmo, Namco Bandai, and SNK have you covered.

If this is what the developers want to do then I personally don’t have an issue letting them do this. Hypothetically if there was a video game I liked with a character I liked that the devs changed to fit or cater to a political agenda then I would let them know privately that I would appreciate it if they changed it back. If the game goes against my ideals or beliefs then I wouldn’t buy the game and would just continue going about my own business.

There's a Skyrim mod for you. Character designs should evolve with time in fighting games, to give you a reason to buy the new one.

The designs were pretty bad in MK X in my opinion but now they're worse. All media has been affected and even commercials lol. What can you do? Simply vote with your wallet. For example, I hope ghostbusters is back on the right track...

Nah, we only have a few snippets of costumes. I doubt they'd care given that it's Mortal Kombat we're talking about here.

If a characters iconic, then yes. Ryu's simple white/red or Chun LI's blue dress act as a go-to for players of the series, and something intrinsically associated with it as much as the theme tunes. Not that I would really include much of the MK cast as Iconic beyond perhaps Raiden, Sub-Zero, Goro and Scorpio.

Indeed, if we're going to use to the argument "why do you need to enjoy woman titties", then we might as well use the argument "why does the game need blood and guts" as both are aesthetic indulgences. Apparently a pair of tits being more offensive than people getting mutilated.

Mortal Kombat is intrinsically exploitive. It's how it made it's name, the combat was absolute shit compared to it's Japanese peers. Seriously, anyone praising MK go on GOG or pick up the MK collection, see how janky that shit is.

Stuff like "I have a real woman yo" or "this is a non issue", titties actually are a huge appeal of fighting games. Look at the DLC sold for SFV or how Mai Shiranui (not the supposed male lead character) helped keep KOF relevant.

Instead of removing it, and make everyone looking, well... bland. The men should be sexualized as well to please the opposite end of the spectrum.

Part of the appeal of a game is the unadulterated fantasy element, treating a fighting game like it's a serous simulator that has no place for fun is... stupid?

I'm just quoting this because it is the best damn answer a thread like this could possible have. If people want "realistic" measures, settings, characters or whatever ... go play a Simulator ... or better yet. Go outside.

Call me kooky, but I have never cared if video game characters are half naked or not. That's probably because I go home to a real woman every day.

That character pic looks like a zombie or something anyway. WTF you wanna see a naked zombie for?

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the series. Here's what Jade (the character I posted) used to look like

Now tell me they're not pandering with the new design.

This reminds me of how upset people used to be when they had to start saying "native american" or how upset they were when blacks were finally allowed in white schools.

Times change. Perception changes. Corny costumes from the 90's seem sillier now.

IGN did a good service banning it from the comment sections. Gamespot needs to do the same.

It's akin to a racial slur at this point. Just a phrase used to replace having an argument or debate.

This being said, in a thread that ended up with argument and debate, replying to someone who literally made no argument beyond calling people names and stereotypes.

By this same token as well, where we trivialize racism, terms like "Sheep", "Hermit" and "Lem" are also akin to a racial slur.

Or even worse, combining Xbox, with bonehead, to create incredibly hurtful remarks towards Xbox fans.

Terrible, terrible stuff where all avenues of communication should immediately be shut down. It's like what happened to Rodney King, or OJ Simpson (innocent imo), but worse.

Hmm indeed. It's almost like you're trying to find ways to obstruct criticism. Though, there is something to be said for not using shortcut terms in important discussions. Still, saying something like 'authoritarian hypocrites who think random things are racism/sexism and try to solve these things by attacking the ability for people to express themselves, twisting facts, denying service to those with a different opinion, and by introducing far reaching forms of racism and sexism as their solution, involving prejudice against certain skin colors and genders, determining for minorities what they should desire and be offended about, and inventing a new language in the process that absolves certain forms of racism and sexism when convenient' is a bit of a mouthful.

Before you kill me, I think banning the term 'anti-SJW' would be just as weird. I think you are totally allowed to insinuate that anyone opposed to SJW-ism is a racist. We don't need to make it needlessly difficult to communicate criticism to either. I would want you and others to be able to easily criticize anti-SJW's or non-SJW's without worrying about being moderated (and hopefully at some point on the Political Board).

Users on sites like IGN are no longer safe to express their opinion without studying the map of a minefield -a list of terms no longer allowed- because it is now a politically colored list instead of one that is intuitive or based on generally agreed upon word crimes. I don't think that continuously banning people for using terms that are normally useful is a great idea, especially because it would allow local or personal opinions to be affecting the list of unmentionables, and affects the ability of users to discuss things. I would have quite some evil terms to add to that list to make things harder for others, too, to keep things 'fair'. We'd soon have a kind of Neogaf or Resetera totalitarianism, one that we'd all be unhappy with and that does not allow for actual differences of opinion on a bad day.

Not sure if you've actually read but I've replied and debated with several users never bringing the term up until it become the central topic. Not that I would actually feel bad about it or need to defend it, the point being, I've tried to articulate points than name calling.

Whereas you've quoting someone making no argument, vague stereotypes, completely advocating closing down arguments, using a term as a means to do it.

There's no debating allowed at resetera. The latest example was the dozens of users that were banned for "victim blaming" Jussie Smollett when they questioned his story early on. Now we know the whole thing was bogus and people were right to question things. Were there any apologies from the moderation team? Ha, no! Did anyone get their account access back? Nope again.

Wouldn't say that, I mean the fact we are freely sitting here arguing is testament to the power of the freedom William Wallace single handedly invented. Opposition is what makes it engaging regardless of who's correct. Wouldn't get this shit on Resetera, it's an echo-chamber under the guise of debate.

If it is used that way, I agree with you that it is a stupid use for it. I can understand the frustration. I feel frustrated when terms like sexist/racist/SJW/alt-rightist/Trump-supporter/incel/feminist are used as some kind of term to end discussion. I was just trying to formulate why I think banning the actual term(s) may be a bad idea that's all.

@uninspiredcup: Can't debate here either it seems. People just flame eachother or insane people like Bread try banning innocuous words.

That word is very much harmful. You know how its used, don't play ignorant.

BTW before you kill me, I think banning the term 'anti-SJW' would be just as weird. We don't need to make it needlessly difficult to communicate criticism to either. Users on sites like IGN are no longer safe to express their opinion without studying the map of a minefield, a list of terms no longer allowed, because it is now a politically colored list instead of one based on general bad things. This is how people continuously get banned from Warframe by calling Nezha endearingly a trap-frame, as they peculiarly misinterpret the term as some kind of hate crime.

I agree.

You wanna keep your slur because it makes it easier to shut down entire arguments and points of view.

I get it.

It's still wrong.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm not advocating for any blanket statements or labels. SJW is used and abused at this point, it serves little purpose.

Take it to resetera, weirdos.

Nope again.

I wonder how the questions were raised. Did they civilly question it or did they do it in a not so nice way?

@Bread_or_Decide: Lol, no its not harmful. Its an innocuous word that you take offense to due to your inability to handle being challenged on your beliefs and thought process. Likening it to a racial slurs that have decades of pain and oppression behind them only makes me think you're insane.

It's the new racial slur.

Play dumb all you want. You know how its used and where its always used.

It's not used to spark a healthy debate between individuals. It's mean to label, diffuse, and put down an entire group of people with the single act of saying a word.

@Bread_or_Decide: I've said my piece on the matter. If I wanted to wallow in self pitty while making false equivalencies I'd move to Portland.

All this over the term "sjw", wow.

Words are powerful. The way we use them matters. So yes, all this over the new racial slur.
