Nintendo said we didn't want online...Xbox gave us Online...Xbox (even with rampant piracy of the games) barely outsold the GC.
Nintendo said HD isn't important...PS3 and the 360 give us HD and the Wii is selling like hotcakes.
Not saying that I agree with them, but its kinda weird how what they say SEEMS to work out.

XBL has 6+ million users...so now, in that aspect, they were dead wrong.
As for HD gaming...while i don't think it's needed, i think that it's welcome. The Wii is selling off of the launch still and is selling very well. The Xbox 360 is still selling well also though (outselling the Wii over christmas and the Wii was the newer console), so that would contradict that entire argument.
I don't think they were right.
[QUOTE="Shirley_Temple"]They sell because its a Nintendo system. Every day there's 10 topics from people asking about where the online games are, in the Wii forum.MajattWell they have stopped saying ppl don't want online, its just HD now.
I'm saying they haven't delivered the goods, and yet it doesn't matter because people will still buy it because its Nintendo, these consumers are people who have no idea of Nintendo's plans to offer online, hell some may even believe that the Wii is graphically as good as a 360 (if there are still people who think global warming isn't real, then people like that exist).

On the HD side, yes. HD may be the future, but the majority of US households do not own an HDTV. So marketing an HD game system doesn't yet have the mass appeal needed to justify the extra cost. That is why Nintendo went with a lower priced system without HD and insane hardware and is able to out-sell the competition, for now.Darth matt
Fairly good point. I think Nintendo knows that they shouldnt rush things and that they should contine trying to appeal to the kiddie + casual market. Heck they could come out with the "Wii 2". In 2 years and people would buy it.Â

Nintendo said we didn't want online...Xbox gave us Online...Xbox (even with rampant piracy of the games) barely outsold the GC.Nintendo sells because it's for kids. It's no different than the movie business, usually the films that are geared towards children make the most money. As long as there are children, Nintendo will continue to be successful.

So if I said Microsoft is right:
They brought us online and they beat Nintendo last gen and are beating Sony and Nintendo this gen and everybody's doing online now.
They brought us HD with Xbox and now Sony is doing HD now and 360 is outselling Sony and Nintendo this gen, so they were right.
See, I took two things out of context and then said Microsoft was right. Basically that's what you did.

Magical_GuySony did have online, stop trying to make it like they had no online just so you can act like online isn't needed, there were many games that had online abilities for the PS2. I never said sony didn't but how much did Sony push online? even the GC had an online game, but it doesn't seem like it ended up being a large factor. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop trying to words in my posts. I never said online wasn't needed, actually I wanted more of it.
Simply put, the Wii's lack of early online games is due to Nintendo's ignorance of online gaming on consoles. As for HD, they're not wrong there because most the people Nintendo are going after are not particularly interested and don't have the means to produce HD resolution on their TVs and the hardcore gaming audience will forgive them so long as Zelda, Mario, Metriod and others can run on 480p and offer a satisfying gaming experience, and they will.really good point, especially if there was some sort of first party push for online last gen. I figured their foray with the DS would've taught them a few lessons (like friend codes are a pain).

The Wii is selling nicely because:
Nintendo's decision on HD is irrelevant and thus has little to no effect on Wii sales.

No they don't, I haven't touched a nintendo system since they don't have online, they could have an online system like the PS2 and I wouldn't care.

You're only one person, the public at large apparantly disagrees with youAre you a person or a body of consumers? Or on Nintendo's payroll? Do YOU want online? Do YOU want HD? That's all I'm concerned with. Why are you different?AfterShafterYour bats**t crazy aren't you?...I like it. I want a unified cross the board network platform to allow interplay between multiplats and a 'global' (all countries, all systems) raking tables. I want friend codes to be a bad dream. I want a tv screen to take up my whole bedroom wall and a surround system that utilizes more speakers than a Harvard Business student can count. I want to be on Nintendo's payroll, they are making a crapload of money off everything from the DS to VC, so I can buy games for all the consoles. I want games that push so many polygons I question reality....but i'll settle for amazon having the Wii in stock so we outside the US can get some wii love too. oh and as much as I hate friend codes...I only want online so i don't have to leave home to play against the guys and to take part in the occasional tournament so I guess they aren't that bad.
