Is NIntendo still the best game developer in the industry?

I'm surprised how anyone could put up Capcom. Don't take it the wrong way, they make some great games, but they make some bad, bad games.

Companies like Blizzard and Valve consistantly put out games that are Game of the Year nominies.

I'd put Blizzard above everyone else, closely followed by Valve and Nintendo.

Umm... No... If the PS2 didn't pound the Gamecube and the PS1 didn't pound the N64 then you might have been onto something. Nintendo hasn't been on the top for decades and I doubt they ever wiill. I just don't know which.

Nintendo as a dev, not nintendo as a console maker, but you do make a point. How many devs could keep a console alive with almost no good third party suport? as for the wii and not having a GOTY, SMG is now the highest rated game of all time. I think it has a shot

I don't think there's any question. They have more high-quality titles than anyone else, by far. No one even comes near them in that respect, and every single year, they seem to have a GOTY contender. If they win this year with SMG, that will be 3 since '01 (starting with Prime, and last year, TP got more GOTY's than any other game even though it did't get it here).

There are some other great devs that put out a couple of great games every once in a while, such as Valve. But Nintendo will put out dozens of AAA titles in the amount of time that it takes many devs to come up with one.

To each their own. Blizzard may take a long time to make games, but the ones they do are soo amazing and soo deep that it's almost impossible to scold them. Same goes with Valve.

Crysis seems to be the shoe-in for this year based on te reviews I've read for each. SMG really has the least chance of most out of the three. Crysis is considered the most next-gen game thus far. SMG really can't contend with that. I'm just being a realist not a Sheep like you evidently are.

Sony won the last 2 gens not because of Nintendo development. 3rd party support and bad hardware decicions. Nintendo had 3 game of the years last generation. How many did sony have? Oh nevermind./

Everyone seems to be using the phrase "rehash" when it comes to Nintendo games. Yet the quality of the game is completely disreguarded.

Nintendo cant really be compared as a dev, they are much to large, I saw a couple comments about Bioware being one of the best but when you look at the two side-by-side Nintendo has released more 1st party titles this year then Bioware has in their existence.

well the fact is that if you go looks at Game rankings SMG is the highest rated game ever, numero uno, and you can say only GS scores count but they dont mean that much when it comes to GOTY, because it is a collective decision of the editors not just the opinion of one editor. (halo got a 9.7 and still wasnt GOTY)

At any rate MaSatOG was a fully SEGA developed game and Fire Emblem... well that got well and truly gamespotted

They do some average games (and the occational bad game), but IMO when you take out the average/bad stuff there are more quality games than any other dev. But I'm still shunning Mario and Sonic because it was developed by sega.

Radient dawn is a great game for hardcore FE fans. And Mario and Sonic is made by Sega.
