1. Everyone praises Steam, but you know that you don't really own those games. If you can't sell it then you don't own it. If and when the servers go out, you can't play the games you supposedly own. Steam is like a virus. 2. DRM is getting more and more annoying and invasive. 3. You are never completely sure if a game will even run. Looking at minimum spec you see "Windows XP" and "Windows Vista" specs. But will it run under Windows 7? Spend $40 on a game, not even guaranteed to run on your OS, or even PREVENTED from running by the DRM. At least I can return my game if I don't like it. Can you return PC games if you don't like them? 4. I don't see how PC gaming is even viable without using cracks, or downloading a clean copy of the game from torrents to avoid having rootkits installed or having your DVD player locked, or having always-on internet DRM. 5. The way developers treat PC gamers is abominable. They literally treat you like garbage. The pirates get a more playable game than the legitimate customers. 6. More and more exclusives that you can't play on PC. Halo. Gears. Uncharted. MGS. Infamous. Meanwhile more of more "PC games" coming to console. Witcher 2. Deus Ex. Torchlight. 7. Developers purposely nerfing PC games to make them "equal" to consoles. For example CoD type games setting 12vs12 player limits on PC when it can handle alot more. 8. Inequality. Some people have better hardware and can kill you faster because of it. Console is a more egalitarian way, everybody is using the same hardware, has the same framerates, if they kill you they were simply better. 9. Hodge podge of standards. Direct X, Glide, Shader 1.0/2.0, ATi, NVidia, new cards and new standards coming out, Sandy Bridge, Piledriver, AMD vs Intel, at least I know for a fact that when I pop in the disk, it's gonna run. 10. Seperation of work/play. I like the fact that on my PC I don't have gaming crap all over the place. Everything is neat and organized, and I don't need a bulky deskptop to do my work, can use a tiny netbook or something to get my work done, and just play on 360. Every 5-10 years buy a new console for $300, it doesn't get any easier than that. I was a PC gamer since the Commodore 64. But since 2008 I saw the writing on the wall. While PC is a powerful platform, developers are making it garbage to try to protect their profits. They are deliberately screwing over PC users, adding more and more invasive DRM even down to the hardware level. Purely for gaming, console is the way to go. Flamesuit onZombieKiller7
1. u cant sell pc games to most people anyway...does that mean that i dont own any of my hard copies? and plus...when has xbl or psn ever had a sale even half as good as steam weekend deals? then theres summer and holiday sales...yeah...steam is evil...
2. the only company that ive witnessed bad drm with is ubisoft...i litterally cant play the new prince of persia game(got it from steam...but its ubisofts servers that are messed up) but thats one bad game out of the 1000+ ive owned over the years
3. i, for one, am completely confident in my pc's ability to run a game...it can max most...and if not...its pretty d*** close to maxing it...thats just knowledge and experience and not buying a bargain netbook with an integrated intel gpu with 1 gig of ram...btw...i havnt seen a game that wont run on win7 that would run on win vista or xp...
4. ummm...supporting piracy to spite developers are we? like i said the only developer ive had problems with drm is ubisoft...and thats just one game...always on internet...yeah...steam is horrible...its always messed up...bnet servers always go down when im playing sc2(note sarcasm) doesnt seem like much of a problem to me...if u cant figure out how to have a steady internet connection thats on u
5. what the h*** are u talking about? im just totally confused...since when does a cracked version of a game work better than the retail or steam version...especially with the constant updates u can get with steam...at least then i dont have to wait the month it takes for someone to crack the dx11 update for shogun2...
6. of all of those exclusives...the only one i really wanted to play was mgs...i have a ps3...im covered...also look at all the exclusives consoles cant play shogun 2, sc2, crysis(the original one), wow, league of legends, stalker, not to mention all the indie games and thousands of other games ive forgotten...ooo and al the free to play games which some are better than actual big name games like...cod...
7. most pc gamers dont like cod after the whole mw2 no dedicated server fiasco...and yes ur right...some games are gettin nerfed...but u know what else...we also get the gems like the witcher 2 which makes up for da2 sucking and bf3 is gonna make up for all of the cod games after cod4...so yeah...no to mention weve always had quake live and unreal tournament and day of defeat and counter strike...
8. ure actually correct about somethin...my performance is limited by my hardware...my modem, switch, and router are all fast enough that my isp wont max them...not to mention that i went ahead and spent the little extra money thats required to get good frames in almost every game on the market...not to mention my games look and play better than anythin on consoles...even still i get lag spikes...whats more...i have server lists...i dont have to depend on psn or xbl to determine what server im goin to play on...that on we have dedicated servers...also...even with ur consoles having set performance...ive only played a few games on console where i dont get frame rate drops and stuttering on occassion and lag spikes online...so even with knowing exactly what the system will do...developers still dont get good performance out of them...maybe its cause they are using 8year old tech...
9. new standards that are not required to run a game...all u need is knowledge that can be obtained thru about 10 minutes worth of research...not my fault ur too lazy for that...also...almost any decent rig made in the last....ooooo...6 or 7 years can run a game thats been ported from a console...and u dont need the latest and greatest to run a game...so yea theres a new generation of gpus and cpus since my computer was made...thats not gonna stop my computer from maxin sc2 or crysis 2...
10. im sorry what? since when do u need a bulky desktop to play video games? while yes they are infinitely better for it...im running all of my games on a laptop...also...i work on my laptop...and have my computer neat and organized and dont have gaming stuff all over the place...there is a reason that programs ask where u would like them installed...also...ive been gaming since ive had a commodore 64 and an atari and an 8088...and ur right developers are trying to protect their profits and alot of their energy is goin toward consoles...so when a developer like blizzard or dice or cdproject or someone makes a game for pc...its bigger and better...also...any game ported to pc from a console...for the most part...is better on pc...and the drm doesnt bug me...at least i have the best looking and performing version on of the game on the market and i can play from anywhere...i dont need to drag a tv around...also i love my mouse and keyboard...so yeah i spent a little more on my system than i would have if i had gotten a console...and tv...and stand for all of it...but mind u not much more...especially not for the performance gap we have...also...i love my ps3...only thing i would trade it for...a ps3 with backwards compatibility...but i hardly play my ps3...i use it mostly for a bluray player...and even if i had an xbox or wii...i wouldnt play them nearly as much as my ps3...dont like the exclusives for them...while to each their own...i love my alienware...best buy ive had in a long time...much better deal than my xps i had when i went to college...also...since i work with computers all the time...i need somethin with...well...more power than a netbook...lolz...gotta love nearly desktop performance in a laptop...
