GS did give it RPG of the year. So take it for what it's worth.

Famitsu gave it RPG of the year when it first came out here in Tokyo.

There really isn't a game like it. Half dating sim, half rpg.

Oh sorry! My mistake! Yeah, I don't expect most people from the West to like dating games, I don't like them either but Persona 3 does it really well.

Short answer? Yes Long answer? Hell Yes! I've spent about 50 hours on it but I'm going to start over here in a bit when I'm not totally immersed in GTAIV. Oh where does the time go...

Persona 3 is cool... and yeah, it somehow manages to pull off the half dating sim/half rpg 'thing' without being silly...

I own it and I think it's great. It does have a big japanese feel to it. It being a jrpg and all.. It's a long game too, I'm about 40 hours in and looking at the games calendar I'm apparently far from being done. Thats Atlus for ya. :)

It is a great game, but I imagine it's not for everyone. I've logged over 100 hours on this game and am starting to get close to the end. I suppose you COULD rush through the game, but that would basically mean giving up on half of what the game has to offer.

If you play and enjoy JRPG's then yes, it is a game you will most likely enjoy.

Its a truely unique game combining the aspects of normal day life and school life with aspects of a dark an twisted netherworld of sorts with completely unique takes on the genre.

You could say its managed to land itself in a niche of its own, but the story of the game, character development and ideas in the game are truely awesome.

If you think the FF games on PS2 are good then this pretty much story wise lays them in there graves.

Its got sim elements mate, but they don't overkill it, they aren't tedious and they are generally over pretty quickly.

Yeah, I didn't like most other dating sim elements in some games I've played but P3 does it extremely well. Social networking in P3 is probably the best I've experienced.

I wouldn't exactly call sim-date elements "The Sims" elements. Japanese Sim Date games in no way resemble The Sims.

Leveling up takes THAT long my friend.

I have FES reserved, but I have a buddy that can get me a copy of Persona 3 now for $60. Is it worth it to own both?

If FES has everything and then some, why not wait? Am I missing something?

simple reason, they made it for JRPS fans and not the general public, and with anthing if you make it for the fans it will turn out great.

It's the best jrpg last year. Only flaw is their is only 1 dungeon, Once you leave dungeon you cannot return until the next day. you can only control the main character, difficult is insane, or unfair. If you like megaten game then yes, you'll like this game. Megaten games are not for casual jrpg players. I am disappointed that persona 3 isn't good as persona 2(story-wise atleast).

No, its not worth to own both. Persona 3 fes is the full version of the game + with an 30 hours of more story added to the game, plus with other features and more personas. I bought persona 3 when it first released now im getting persona 3 fes.

Fun game, cute characters, great plot

The thing is it gets really repetitive. I got 40 hours in and just didn't feel like doing the same old thing anymore. Go to school, go to activities, go to tartarus...........blah blah blah. Got to boring:( Maybe I'll go back to playing it some day beacuse I really liked the story, but for now my ps3 is keeping plant occupied!

It's really good. I don't like that whole relationship part, but the fact that the game rewards you for actually working through them makes it kinda worthawhile.

Thats because the mass majority of the world didnt get their hands on Persona 3 yet. At this point, it's super rare and from what ive seen has recieved critical accclaim.

You can go with your reader votes, ill go with metacritic where Persona 3's metacritic scored a [87] in comparison to Fable's [85].

It's Shin Megami Tensei game created by Atlus's "A Team", do you really need to ask that question?
